Thank you all! I read each and every comment, and although I can't reply to everyone, just know I appreciate you watching :)
This truly was a disappointing season so far with family guy. With only a few good gags and barely a handful of good episodes, this is looking like a lackluster season. I appreciate your coverage as always Lydia and thank you for keeping us posted!❤
I would love to see a video about Stewie and Rupert's relationship
GREAT 👌 LYDIA LOVES TIMELINES FAMILY GUY SEASON 22 EPISODE 4 & 5 REVIEW 👌
2:03 this #plot point was #ALREADY done on #AmericanDad m.ruclips.net/user/shortsotYUN5gKg6Q
Family guy has new younger writers who don't care about continuity and have to explain the jokes that they don't fully get themselves. They're also dumbing it down for a younger audience. Also Brian wasn't even with the Griffins as a puppy! So the first shower scene gets me.. Peter found him homeless washing cars at stop lights and invited him in for dinner. Could you do a video on their original backstories? Or have you done one I already missed lol
Joe with Cleveland legs was the most humorous thing to come out of these episodes. But they were both alright.
The shot of Cleveland slowly being lowered out of the van, missing 2 legs and looking misrable, before cutting to Joe was freakin hilarious 😂
@@LydiaLovesTimelinesI guess you could say it was..... FREAKIN SWEEEEEEET!!!!!!
@@LydiaLovesTimelines 2:03 this #plot point was #ALREADY done on #AmericanDad m.ruclips.net/user/shortsotYUN5gKg6Q
Nah
I did enjoy Stewie and Brian acting like a baby and dog, those are some of their best plotlines. But I don't like when the continuity decides to have Brian join the family as a puppy. It just makes his relationship ties with the family even weirder, and takes away the sweetness of how he was given a chance at a good life through a kind gesture from Peter inviting him to dinner. Seems like they gave up on that original idea years ago.
2:03 this #plot point was #ALREADY done on #AmericanDad m.ruclips.net/user/shortsotYUN5gKg6Q
In think that they have just decided to age Brian down for that scene
Not only is it just mean to throw him out while he's wet and shivering, and a puppy, it's counterproductive because they had just cleaned him.
I want an origin story of Brian and him meeting Peter. So we can get an actual understanding of how they met. It can be a two part episode.
Well that’s Family Guy for us, inconsistant quality
Will it ever improve? At this point, don’t hold your breath.
2:03 this #plot point was #ALREADY done on #AmericanDad m.ruclips.net/user/shortsotYUN5gKg6Q
@@AndrewHager02I mean it’s been improving.
@@digimonlover1632 Maybe so, but who’s to say it’ll improve any further to the point where Seth MacFarlane actually *wants* to involve himself more in the production and writing of the show like he did before?
Simpsons did it, Simpsons did it.
I sometimes wish that they would do a story with just Cleveland and Joe, i think they're kind of underestimated as a pair, even though they been together since Season 1 i don't think the show actually explores much of their dynamic specifically.
They need to ask the fans what do the fans want to see? I feel like they don’t know what to do next
The Chris Daughtry cameo might be considered continuity because as a mom there was an episode where Lois said she enjoyed his music
I’m a mom, so I love this.
@@robtheoutsider yuuuup
Ah okay that makes sense. I think it just didn't work for me because he's not well known in the UK so I didn't understand what was going on haha
@@LydiaLovesTimelineshe’s a very famous singer in America/Canada. Shot to fame in 2006 ,his core fan base is women about 40 -60. Lois is a pretty accurate representation of his fans !
Yeah, it was funny as a call back to an episode way back. And the fact that they got him in on it , and it totally worked on Lois was great.
The shower episode was pretty contradictory because Peter got Brian when he was an adult dog
Yeah very true, but I've given up on Family Guy caring about continuity
@@LydiaLovesTimelines I get it . Even King of the Hill has a few continuity errors
I prefer the timeline where Brian is a puppy, not because he's cute or anything even though he is!
I like to think in the Stewie Griffin the Untold Timeline Bonnie fell victim to the Florida old folks home and that's how Joe got her legs.
In my opinion, the scene where Stewie goes underwater in the shower and pulls out Meg’s decade of hair while The Wreck of The Edmund Fitzgerald was playing was actually quite epic, and I think it’s a nice little tribute to Gordon Lightfoot since he passed away in early May 2023. Rest in Peace Gord
My mom said that the anniversary of the ship sinking recently because then I told her about the song about the wreckage was on family guy this newest season.
The ship sunk November 10th.
@@FoxUnitNell yeah, it happened like 2 or 3 weeks before my Mom was born
id never heard the whole song , but i also thought this part was incredible. i forget the album with the pool baby, but it had that vibe at first with my lack of music knowledge lol
@@aristobrat4987 that would be Nirvana's Nevermind.
PLEASE make a Stevie and Rupert episode! That sounds awesome!
I didn’t think episode 5 was bad, when Peter kicked Lois under water and ridding away on the boat with both of them screaming was pretty funny.
Agreed
I agree 😊
Same
Actually, over the seasons, there have been quiet jokes that Lois really likes Chris Daughtry.
Most notably, when Chris dates Taylor Swift and they are looking at a facebook page where Swift made that hate song of Chris, Lois asks for them to click the next video, because it's Daughtry.
There are a few one off lines of other episodes where Lois will mention it off hand. I think maybe while talking to Bonnie, or perhaps a conversation with Donna (which Donna has no idea of who she is talking about).
Because of that, the moment they get Daughtry on the show for that gag actually had me laughing hard. A weird continuity to follow!
Honestly, I found both episodes to be pretty average though. The vacationing at the retirement center was pretty fun, but the shower part I zoned out on. Shark episode? Felt like 'lather, rinse, repeat' of other episodes they've done.
Lois loooooves Daughtry !
Hey, thanks for bringing this up. I don't remember those moments at all probably because I've never heard of him. But it's cool that they've kept up this piece of continuity at least l. As it is a part of Lois' character then I'll step back on that cameo criticism 🙂
Looks like Meg is taking some time off to heal from that pregnancy. 😅
I have to disagree about the B-plot of last week's episode. I thought the addition of Guy, The Quebecoise roommate, and Chris joining in on the fun playing the super chill RA were hilarious, so it wasn't just Brian and Stewie playing off each other the whole time. The Michael Douglass cutaway worked for me too because it was quick and concise, and didn't go into a long-winded explanation of why Catherine got up from the table in a huff. While The Shining joke was a funny note to go out on, the catalyst of it being Stewie accidentally leaving the mini fridge door partially open made ABSOLUTELY NO SENSE!
Partly a joke on the fact that mini fridges get too cold and freeze things when they shouldn’t.
As a mini fridge user i can confirm, ive hard like 3 and they all have done that
@@paulgallagher4 Me too. I keep mine on the lowest setting, but any fruits or veggies I put in there wind up freezer-burned in less than 12 hours (whether I put them in a container or not). It's the damnedest thing.
Probably the funniest episode of this season was episode 4! It could have easily turned into a hilarious parody Invasion of the Body Snatchers but they still did really good and the bed the end with Joe was hilarious! I'm glad we're getting more Joe gags where he's secretly plotting against the group!!
I was shocked when Lydia said she never heard of Chris Daughtry, that's Lois's favorite band ever! Deep in family guy lore lol
Yes to the Stewie/Rupert video idea, I’ve often wondered what the deal is with them! 😅
lol Lois is obsessed with Daughtry.
They’ve referenced him in multiple episodes.
One of her social medias is like hot Daughtry mom or something
Peter's legs and feet are, in fact, labeled for "Joey"
I like how Brian hating showers is apparently a thing even though he’s taken several showers before with no problem.
Baby It’s Cold Inside was fine in my opinion. I liked both plots, and the jokes. I feel like people just hate on the newer Family Guy episodes because it’s popular to or because “it’s not good anymore”.
Lois fighting that shark and Stewie being frozen were the funniest parts for me
People hate on the new episodes because they're extremely lazy and bad
Remember when Family Guy made good episodes? Neither do the writers. This is why people prefer The Simpsons.
The Simpsons is incredibly dull and dumb now. Family Guy's edgyness might not be your style but it's mine and that of others so don't comment if you hate it.
Let's not let Simpsons off of the hook. Minus well be called "The Lisa and Marge Show".
I hate family guy but I absolutely hate the Simpsons. Never watched it and never will
Treehouse of horror is the best they got. They have so many boring eposodes. Few are good, but you cant watch the new seasons. Just boring, nothig new, lame humor. The best show? American dad.
Family Guy really hasn’t been the same since Seth MacFarlane stopped becoming actively involved in the writing (which, btw, was over a decade ago)
I am so on board for a stewie and Rupert video! Also it’s funny seeing Family Guy deep in the ‘not funny anymore’ era the Simpsons had. I hope it has a comeback soon, too.
Hey lydia, please do a Rupert video! There's been too many times his relationship has been one sided with Stewie and only in one sequence did Rupert say "Hey it's not me it's Stewie!!"😂
This season has frustrated me a lot for some reason it feels like family guy episodes are being made just for the sake of it hopefully we see some awesome episodes coming up also congratulations on the book
Book?
Old World Harm genuinely felt like a classic-ish FG episode. Maybe a couple seasons into the rebirth at the latest. It was great to see Joe finally get one in and be sneakily aggressive instead of the pathetic character they turned him into. And I love how Stewie was allowed to be a baby and do baby-like things again with that shower bit, also letting Brian be a dog for an actual plot reason instead of a one off joke. Everything about that episode just felt like the show FG was meant to be. And props to Henry Winkler and James Hong for playing a couple residents of the retirement village and Ricard Kind as the Jetpack Lawyer. Even drew the character to look like him. The next episode I only caught some of and didn't bother to track back down to watch the whole episode. Glad I didn't. While episode 4 was what the show should be, episode 5 is what the show has become. Lazy habits when writing Lois and Peter's story is one thing and can be overlooked, Stewie's B plot was just crap.
2:10 if you look at who gets Peter’s legs it’s marked ‘Joey’ which could be the name Joe’s grandmother calls him since it’s revealed he wanted the legs.
Yes, i would love an Stewie and Rupert video
4:01 - 4:05, That and Brian as well as Stewie took a shower together in an early episode when they accidentally glued their hands together.
I like to see a Family Guy/American Dad timeline. Just to see all the times the shows crossed over each other from cameos and Easter Eggs. Cleaveland Show could count.
I’m pretty sure American Dad stopped reciprocating on the move to TBS.
@@DigiRangerScott American Dad still references Family Guy on TBS. In one ep, Stan does Peter's voice, and in a Where's Waldo book one is of Spooned St.
The Smiths have made cameos in recent Family Guy episodes, like when they were with all the other characters wanting to go camping with Peter and Meg, and the time Peter drafted Meg to American Dad.
I would have wanted to see a real American Dad episode where Meg does guest star.
Episodes Ranked:
5: Stache From the Past (Unfunny, boring, and forgettable)
4: Baby, It’s Cold Outside (A Plot: Cliche and mean)(B Plot: DREADFULLY DUMB!)
3: Fertilized Meg (Not terrible, but just very unmemorable)
2: Supermarket Pete (I had a lot of fun with this episide)
1: Old World Harm (I was cracking up! Absolutely hilarious!)
The fact u don't know who Daughtry is hurts so much! "Going home" "feels like tonight" "long gone" thay misic was my childhood
Had to pause the video because of the shock that you've never heard of Chris Daughtry (who should've won American Idol) and has a very successful band called Daughtry. Truly one of my favorite bands and he has one of the best voices out there. But if I had to sum up their music it's divorced dad rock, which I fuck with heavy.
American Idol isn't a thing over here, so this was literally the first I ever saw of him haha 🙂
@@LydiaLovesTimelines it’s okay lol I guess his music isn’t popular across the pond. Love your videos keep at it.
When it comes to modern Family Guy, your always gonna find a mixed bag with these episodes.
I cant believe they didnt bring back the backwards merman instead of the dolphin 😂😂😂
I love the way you say Stewie . Lmao “Schtewie”
😂
3:45 Are those Peter and Lois in the flashback? If yes we'll have a big plothole in the family guy lore (note: I haven't watched the episode yet)
8:02 I hear you say that and I laugh because a weak B plot seems so similar to that people never listens to the B side of the record, and the B side was usually the trash side of the record that some like Hank Williams' record "Lovesick Blues" was paired with a B side of an older song that Hank recorded "Never Again(Will I Knock On Your Door)" on M-G-M Records 10352… and Chubby Checkers "The Twist" on Parkway Records 811 had a B side of "Toot"(which I actually also like) was released in July 1960…
6:42 Dude...he's only the best singer of my WHOLE LIFE! I've loved him ever since I was a kid. His music is very sentimental, but also epic and boppable! I recommend Dearly Beloved, the self-titled album that came out in 2007, and Life After You for albums I'd recommend.
Also, hey, I've just learned about your channel a week ago, and love your style of reviewing, so if you could give this comment a heart, that'd be cool okaybye
Yeah I thought it was probably an international thing 🙂
Thanks so much for the kind words 😊
@LydiaLovesTimelines TBF, he's not even well-known here, at least compared to bands of the past like ACDC, Journey, Led Zeppelin and contemporaries like Nickelback (which Family Guy also made fun of too late to even be funny)
i liked that that another hanna-barbara animation reference appeared this season with the take-off running. i know technically a lot of animations used it but, i'm making a connection to the flintstones bowling scene.
At least there was one good episode out of the two. Actually, both plots sound really fun in their own ways! Also, I haven't watched Family Guy since 2020, but I hope they do more with Stewie and Rupert. In fact, they could have a Calvin and Hobbes dynamic.
I’m outside waiting for my mom to pick me up while watching your video
I'm sorry but they're both absolutely great episodes. Classic Family Guy! I'd even say episode 5 was a lot better than episode 4. A lot more edgy. Lois discovering SHE'S the strong guy in the relationship was very fun and the B plot was very dumb but nonetheless fun! I'd give episode 4 an 8/10 but episode 5 a 9.5/10, nothing less. One of the funniest Family Guy episodes in years.
The book looks so good, I totally want to buy it now! And I'd love to see a Stewie and Rupert video
Every time they have Lois and Peter fighting, I just assume one of them is going through a breakup/divorce and using their job as an outlet, especially with how often it happens…
Idk know if anyone else noticed but in the organ chart sight gag I guess Joey is supposed to be Joe!!! But why does Tony want Lois's beasts? (Intentionally misspelled) 😮😅😂
Have you thought about doing the American Dad/Scooby-Doo Halloween episode? It's a great homage to the Scooby series and it's tropes.
given that dolphins are bigger asshole than sharks. i think joke would work better if the shark that help her out the sea
7:39 I'd for one think BOTH South Park and The Simpsons did The Shining Parody better then what Family Guy tired and failed at
Stewie leaving the fridge open reminded me of when Spongebob got the suds.
OMG PLEASE DO A STEWIE AND RUPERT TIMELINE
So would you say that the second episode was a “jumping the shark” episode? 😂
More like beating up the shark
@@SparkzEnt a combination of “jumping the shark” and “beating a dead horse” if you will? 😂
More like jumping the shark, beaching the carnivorous fish and then using its filed corpse like a trampoline.
9:54 Lydia this is fucking AMAZING, I cannot wait to get one. This is like not even some ordinary stuff for a RUclipsr, just pure all around Creative minds. Brilliant
I love this comment, thank you so much 😊
We started this book journey almost 2 years ago, and I can't believe how close we are to the release date
Whelp, this proves that Stewie is slowly becoming Peter.
Griffin genes I guess
Im actually the opposite on this one, i liked the stewie brian story expect for the armie hammer and a couple other few years too late jokes. Meanwhile the peter and lois stuff was hard to even pay attention to, but that may be because i just expected their usual dynamic
Very well made video, better then the actual season.
2:11, the funny thing is, they even hinted at Joe getting Peter legs, just look at the board😅
And The Simpsons did the Shining reference before South Park. Urge To Kill Rising!!!
If you look carefully the episode actually exposes the plot twist early that Joe set the whole thing up.
Because when you rewatch the old people discussing which body parts will go to who, on the diagrahm it says "Joey" by Peter's legs
Stevie and Rupert is one of my favorite gags too
Yes plsssss for the Stewie and Rupert video. It’s such a fun bit.
I’d like to add the Daughtry cameo is a callback to when Lois said “Moms love Daughtry” or something along those lines
Chris Daughtry is from the band Daughtry.
"Very, very lazy." Described 99% of animated content in current year.
6:40 Chris Daughtry sung the song "Crashed". A Rockstar. But I haven't heard of any of his songs outside of Crashed.
I definitely need a stewie and Rupert video ❤
The "Organ Room" joke was hilarious!
6:57 I disagree. I like it when Peter and Lois are as toxic as possible to each other. Unlike the Simpsons which has the pretense of attempting to have morals and heart Family Guy is much more satirical and the characters being terrible people is sort of the joke of the show. Also Lois getting less and less patients for Peter's shenanigans makes sense for the character.
3:48 Didn't they find Brian on a driveway as a homeless person cleaning Peter's windshield while he was already an adult??
That part witch the mini fridge feel like the writers were trying to push a joke to a extreme, but didn’t pick a good joke.
I thought episode 4 was ok but some things felt recycled. Peter already had multiple jetpacks and American Dad already had an episode about organ thieves. Peter with the jet pack also felt too reminiscent of when he tried to catch the Roadrunner on the Cleveland Show. The Stewie taking a shower plot was ok but Peter and Lois giving Brian a bath when he was a puppy was distracting. Peter met Brian when he was an adult. Episode 5 was fantastic and one of my favorite Family Guy episodes of all time. All the gags made me laugh super hard. Peter's cannonball washing away the cruise ship, Stewie freezing, The shark swimming away and eating those random swimmers, etc. This was the funniest Stewie B plot in a hu-while.
*So I'm just assuming you just find the fifth episode boring, and I can totally understand that.*
*Also wait how do you know Rupert's winning the arguments over Stewie?*
Lois knows Karate and is better than her sensei. So it made sense she can beat up a shark lol
and really, dear? Chris Daughtry songs were fire asf back then.
Chris Daughtry isn't big in the UK, literally never heard of him 😭
If I were a writer for Family Guy I would probably abandon all shame and gun for an episode where it's revealed that the episodes that contain a lot of aggressive hostility actually take place in a parallel universe that is separate from the ones from that don't, making a point to close it on Stewie saying something like "But wait, how will we know what happens in the evil universe and what doesn't?" to which Brian tells him "It'll probably be something that we just figure out in hindsight.".
YES. PLEASE MAKE A STEWIE AND RUPERT VIDEO
And ngl I actually liked them both. I know the fighting is old but I really like the conclusion Lois came to in the end and I REALLY hope it's added into continuity (even though I know that's probably getting my hopes up)
The chinese balloon part was hilarious.
Watching these saves me from suffering on the bad episodes
You know what's my big problem with adult animation like Family Guy they go on for so long without many major changes to there characters or the world that I eventually stop caring about them.
Chris Daughtry is an amazing singer of a band named after him. 4th place on American Idol years ago and was on the Masked Singer. I highly recommend his music. He doesn't get enough credit. I can't believe he got a cameo. He has sung with Kelly Clarkson and Bon Jovi before.
Family guy really needs to replace some of there writers. I notice alot of the worst episodes come from a few of the same writers.
Also with Brian flashback, I think his mind made that up due to his fear if showers since up until now they were consistent with brian being found by peter when he was an adult.
I think both episodes are A Tier. The Stewie freezing himself ending doesn’t mean anything if it’s not canon.
Hey, not sure if you heard of this. But people have made rumors about a hack going on on RUclips, involving Family Guy.
They say that some inactive channels are uploading full Family Guy episodes, but slightly edited to distract the copyright bots. And these channels weren't originally intended to be Family Guy channels.
You might wanna consider making a video on it.
At this point with the 5th episode of the season, I want the Divorce season to happen PLEASE LOIS DIVORCE PETER!
The shining reference was hilarious lmao
Fun fact, if you didn’t know the leader of the old people Was Henry Winkler
People who watch family guy are uncultured
I love your videos Lydia keep up the great content. 🙂
To explain the Daughtry joke, Lois is a huge fan of his because she’s a mom. Apparently moms love Daughtry.
5:44 I kind of wish that the dolphin was Billy Finn As it would have been great to hear Ricky Gervis again plus we could have had an interaction like "Hey Lois Long-time no see you mistook me for a shark yeah i get that alot I'll just get you back to shore"
I think a stewie and Rupert video would be amazing
The "The Shining" joke landed for me simply because of the caption saying "University of College 1923". Great call back joke.
the joy it gives to hear someone say Québec correctly
I like the hint that the print of Peter has his legs marked for "Joey"
Lois loving daughtry has been a thing for awhile right?
Family guy has new younger writers who don't care about continuity. Brian wasn't even with the Griffins as a puppy! Peter found him homeless washing cars at stop lights and invited him for dinner.
How have you missed the running gag that Lois loves Chris Daughtry? They've done several Daughtry jokes over the years.
Wouldn’t joe need a new spine though
Family Guy is owned by Disney now, so this idiotic "girl power" story is par for the course.
They've made jokes before about Lois liking Daughtry's music because she's middle aged and that's what music middle aged moms think is cool 😂
*I'm a 41 yr old mom and I think he's lame as hell
I probably don't remember those because I've never heard of him, but it's cool that they've kept up this piece of continuity at least
I’ll keep an eye out for your book but right now money is tight
