Something I’ve been noticing a lot lately is that whenever an episode opens with the Griffins going to a public location, my first thought is, “the first line of dialogue is going to be Lois expressing a happy sigh and talking about how happy/excited she is to be at said location.” And 90% of the time, I’m right.
That's pretty normal. A family travels and it's like the woman feels happy, then talks about how happy she feels about arriving the place. Then afterwards, the children say something and then, the husband/father. 😅

Suzie being so consistently forgotten and left out is such a slap in the face because like. Bonnie was pregnant for YEARS. It was a running joke, and Suzie finally being born should have been the big pay off to it. But nah. She just gets born, gets like one episode and then is never seen again.

Family Guy feels like it wants to be an edgy, shock humour show while at the same time being afraid to actually offend anyone so they just resort to the same incest and infidelity jokes over and over again.
I'd say it's more likely that their shock humor died through overexposure and sheer laziness of going to the offensive gag well way too often. I mean, what's left to get offended about if your a FG fan? You're probably just so desensitized to it by now, it can't even be slightly awkward funny.
@@mechajay3358 It's more of a case of how many times can you do 9/11 or Hitler jokes and they're still fresh? Seems that they're at a point where they just throw in some sort of lame, overused shock joke as if to say "HEY! We're still the cool, edgy show we once were" while making jokes about flea markets and coffee bars. It's more of a case of their age showing and not being able to adapt. They had a solid run of edgy Gen-X Pop culture style humor when they started and up until a couple years into the cancellation, and a decent enough run of adult swim gamer/Millennial humor, now they have an aging fanbase that grew out of them. They can put as many Peter is a pedo gags in there and they're not going to land because we heard them enough times that they're not funny. Like a comedian that ONLY has one set of jokes he tells over and over. Predictable, and a shadow of a shadow of what was once funny.
Family Guy hasn't been funny in years. Honestly, the comedy for a long time has been hit or miss with mostly misses. Because many of their shocking jokes weren't funny they were just...well like watching a train wreck. There were so many ways to improve upon their jokes and have dark humor which was actually funny.

Chris being the biggest thing Lois ever had was actually really funny 😂 I like the way they wrote it to have her tell the truth in a way that sounded really messed up. Since I'm sure he's quite literally the biggest thing that she has ever had. The biggest baby she ever had
I think Chris' attraction to Lois gets swiped aside since American Dad did this joke even harder with Steve and Franny. Also the "Chris is a creep towards *everyone* excuse."

Chris did hooked up with Meg many times, he dated a Lois lookalike and he put up with that nasty neighbor as "a friend"... Chris being creepy is pretty much well established at this point (not saying it's good, though).

Stan's main trait throughout the series is him being extremely uptight and the whole incest thing build up on that - but "American Dad!" never normalizes it, they acknowledge how uncomfortable it is. The characters and series have an established and coherent lore, like Homer and "The Simpsons", for example. Peter and "FG" as a whole have zero moral compass at this point, they're nasty for the sake of being nasty.

This is what I want: Meg needs to move out & attend college. 1) it opens a new location & set of characters 2) it opens new stories, even something simple as hosting a dinner party at her place. It would also allow more stories with just her, Brian, Stewie & Chris. Like she takes her brothers to the campus library or a student movie event. 3) my personal idea is that Meg actually gets a really nice loft apartment. For years she’s been publishing her stories as horror novels & has been saving the money. Her grandfather published her novels, one because it made him money but more importantly it talked crap about Peter. So this would set up why we don’t see her at work but she’s able to take care of herself without Peter & Lois.
In theory I like it, but the writers have no clue how to write for anyone as the main character if it isn't Peter, or a Brian/Stewart episode. Heck, even Meg episodes always remove focus from her because of Peter, and bringing his friends into it.

Lately Family Guy has been consistently getting the biggest laughs out of me. Bob's Burgers declined after season 11 and is hit and miss. They switched from doing interesting and exciting plot lines to mundane plots with not much going on. The Simpsons has been incredibly hit and miss these past few years. You'll get a fantastic episode next to a terrible episode.
Chris doesn’t just have an oedipus thing with Lois, he also has an incest thing with Meg, that she reciprocates. Heavy teacher’s pet seems like it referenced both, even though heavy didn’t have him show attraction to Lois.
this is why i respect Bob's Burgers more. Adults act like adults and for once we have a cartoon dad who love all this children equally and parent them I also wish that family guy could spice things up like Meg finally does get a bf and he is around for a lot longer/if she finally moved out on her own and we got to see episodes of her living a new life. How does the family function without having her around? If just seems like its the same thing over and over and over
Remember Seahorse Seashell Party? Meg can’t leave her abusive family because without her to be a “lightning rod” they’d just tear each other apart. Really awful moral.
Honestly, what's the point of ending an episode with "it's all just a dream"? It's not like the events of the episode were going to have an affect later on in the series one way or another.
I'm honestly really tired of the incest jokes, the child p and child abuse jokes. They are so frequent now it feels like they are only relying on the shock to make jokes, and I preferred their reference humor. Maybe I just don't think the implications are funny.
With all the 'incest' jokes: Kind of makes you wonder if one of the writers has a 'fascination' with this, doesn't it? I mean, people have pointed out all the 'Pants Peeing' jokes in "Rick and Morty", first couple of times it funny, repeated attempts at the same joke (more or less) bring up questions.

I was surprised that Lydia hadn't brought it up, nor was it mentioned in the comments from what I've seen, but they made a point to reference the fact that Lois had a teaching position back in S6. While I find it a neat callback, I don't particularly see why they had to rehash an already used plot and make it so much weirder.
Quagmire's dream job wasn't a parody or what if, he stated he actually had it, which means its now cannon that he was a failed aerobics instructor in the 80s

As a nurse the whole trope of cpr equals kissing and romantic feelings needs to stop, it's annoying and i usually only see this in american shows so makes one wonder what they learn about cpr over there
Ok well first off this isn’t a wide spread American belief. People here don’t think it’s kissing. We get taught CPR (most of the time in high school, if not most learn at their job). Also I’ve never seen this message literally anywhere else, that’s in US media or from United States citizens. We aren’t all idiot troglodytes thank you very much.

There's the running joke that Meg Griffin's real father is "Stan Thompson". So looks like Louis had a few moments of unfaithfulness there. Granted it was seen as a gag joke however Meg wasn't listening to the conversation and had headphones on.
If I had a nickel for every Quagmire story involving John Davidson I’d have two nickels. It’s not a lot but it’s weird that it’s the actual flashback that exaggerated Davidson’s features and not the fictional thing

I don't even watch the full episodes anymore I just watch your vids cause I don't want to waste my time. Only time I watch Family guy anymore is when you recommend an episode itself.
The only reason I can think of as to why they went with the weird CPR story in Lifeguard Meg was to make fun of the age old gag where a guy fakes needing a rescue so he can receive “CPR” from the stereotypical hot lifeguard. I assume it’s using the elementary/primary school type of juvenile thought process of “oh my gosh, their mouths touched, they must be in love!” But here people are freaking out because it’s a father and daughter in the situation. I remember that type of humor in a lot of media aimed at kids growing up, usually where the punchline of the joke was either a huge age gap or making a cheap gay joke, but it’s weird to see in a show like Family Guy.
So… from what you describe as 2 of the episodes being dreams from an unconscious Peter I could see them as something of Peter’s psyche. For the cabbin episode. With Quagmire taking over the day to where Peter doesn’t see the bear show. Probably not the bear show itself self but probably the idea of Quagmire may one day steal his family and there’s no recovering from that. The Meg life guard episode. Where Meg calls out Peter’s BS of loving her. Somewhere in the back of his mind he gonna wake up and understand he hurt his daughter too many times and she won’t forgive him Lois giant poop? Eh maybe he just wanted Lois to be shamed for pooping like that and probably she nagged and humiliating him for the giant poops he’s made over the years. Who knows
At this point with the amount of „no no stuff“ that people draw and write about the griffins, I’m not surprised that they parodied that plot/ joke about it
I'd love more Bob's Burgers videos, it's been so long since you made one that I thought you went off it! I've also redefined my views on HD Simpsons now; ever since you gave me a few recommendations a while back I've decided to see the HD era from the start... but because I'm such a slow watcher I'm only 2 episodes in. It's not the show's fault, I'm like that with almost everything. It's all thanks to you I'm watching them at all (except for the Treehouse Of Horror because I watch them every year anyway) and I've discovered that the HD era isn't so bad after all. I think something about my aspergers syndrome stopped me from watching the HD era because it seemed too much of a change animation wise, but I've really enjoyed the first two episodes (plus your recommendations, obviously) and I've decided not to be so much of a Simpsons snob from now on. You convinced me when my own dad couldn't!

I remember season 4-6 making me laugh every single scene, with season 7 - 12 also being quite funny the vast majority of the time. But now it's gotten bad to a point that The Simpsons are now better which is a shock. Let's hope in 5-10 years Family Guy will get a glow-up.
i love the cabin episode but i wish Jr Roberta and Rallo had lines at least one line each i've been watching The Cleveland Show quite a bit this year and enjoying it a lot (enjoying it more than i did when i watched it back in like 2015 or 2016) i feel like if they didn't include Quagmire Joe and Bonnie they could've had Cleveland's kids speak (but that probably wouldn't happen if that was the case)
There was an incest joke that Family Guy has pretty much tried to bury. But it actually did confirm Chris and Lois had sex at least once. It was in the DVD special Stewie Griffin The Untold Story. Peter was being interviewed on a cancellation of the show. And Peter remarked about being given creative license and made mistakes like the incest episode. And in a clip of it, Chris walked into the living room where Lois was on the couch. They awkwardly stared at each other, and Chris stutters a bit before saying "Hi mom..." and she responded "Hi Chris..." and then looked at the floor. And then it cuts to Brian pounding his fist on the table and saying "WRONG! IT'S WRONG!". That bit was all over the internet, then suddenly gone. Pretty sure they did whatever possible to bury it. But the movie is actually listed as canon. Meaning that scene with Lois and Chris was canon.

As soon as I noticed Cleveland's family in the episode, I actively paid attention to see if they were given ANYTHING. And, not so surprisingly, they weren't. I think Jr. had one spoken line, but I feel like I'm being generous with that. And then Donna had one line, only to be shut down by Peter. Massive yikes. Skipped the anthology episode, I'm never too fond of them. As for Lifeguard Meg, I definitely agree with the A Plot just falling off after the incest joke. I was really happy to see Meg actually saving Peter's life, and I really really thought they were going to have another genuine father/daughter bonding episode where they learn to appreciate each other more. But no, it devolved into some weird, nonsensical plot to have conflict as stated. Then, with the B Plot- I liked the idea, but it soon became really boring. I especially found myself done with it after their long-winded joke about Chase bank. It seemed like it took up about 20% of the B plot's time.
I feel like "lazy" is the perfect way to talk about family guy. it's probably been about a decade now where they know people will watch no matter what so they just put out nonsense

This is what I want: Meg needs to move out & attend college.
1) it opens a new location & set of characters
2) it opens new stories, even something simple as hosting a dinner party at her place. It would also allow more stories with just her, Brian, Stewie & Chris. Like she takes her brothers to the campus library or a student movie event.
3) my personal idea is that Meg actually gets a really nice loft apartment. For years she’s been publishing her stories as horror novels & has been saving the money. Her grandfather published her novels, one because it made him money but more importantly it talked crap about Peter. So this would set up why we don’t see her at work but she’s able to take care of herself without Peter & Lois.
In theory I like it, but the writers have no clue how to write for anyone as the main character if it isn't Peter, or a Brian/Stewart episode. Heck, even Meg episodes always remove focus from her because of Peter, and bringing his friends into it.

I'd like to imagine Meg and Cleveland's step daughter Roberta ended up as roommates and attended the same college in this scenario. Anything to expand the show to its other side characters.

Lately Family Guy has been consistently getting the biggest laughs out of me. Bob's Burgers declined after season 11 and is hit and miss. They switched from doing interesting and exciting plot lines to mundane plots with not much going on. The Simpsons has been incredibly hit and miss these past few years. You'll get a fantastic episode next to a terrible episode.

Chris doesn’t just have an oedipus thing with Lois, he also has an incest thing with Meg, that she reciprocates. Heavy teacher’s pet seems like it referenced both, even though heavy didn’t have him show attraction to Lois.

I'm honestly really tired of the incest jokes, the child p and child abuse jokes. They are so frequent now it feels like they are only relying on the shock to make jokes, and I preferred their reference humor. Maybe I just don't think the implications are funny.

I was surprised that Lydia hadn't brought it up, nor was it mentioned in the comments from what I've seen, but they made a point to reference the fact that Lois had a teaching position back in S6. While I find it a neat callback, I don't particularly see why they had to rehash an already used plot and make it so much weirder.

As a nurse the whole trope of cpr equals kissing and romantic feelings needs to stop, it's annoying and i usually only see this in american shows so makes one wonder what they learn about cpr over there
Ok well first off this isn’t a wide spread American belief. People here don’t think it’s kissing. We get taught CPR (most of the time in high school, if not most learn at their job). Also I’ve never seen this message literally anywhere else, that’s in US media or from United States citizens. We aren’t all idiot troglodytes thank you very much.

There's the running joke that Meg Griffin's real father is "Stan Thompson". So looks like Louis had a few moments of unfaithfulness there. Granted it was seen as a gag joke however Meg wasn't listening to the conversation and had headphones on.

Robots don't breathe oxygen or anything so they can be in space. 👍
They're robots, they don't even need to breathe in an atmosphere, the lack of one wouldn't affect them much, if at all, the cold might though

The only reason I can think of as to why they went with the weird CPR story in Lifeguard Meg was to make fun of the age old gag where a guy fakes needing a rescue so he can receive “CPR” from the stereotypical hot lifeguard. I assume it’s using the elementary/primary school type of juvenile thought process of “oh my gosh, their mouths touched, they must be in love!” But here people are freaking out because it’s a father and daughter in the situation.
I remember that type of humor in a lot of media aimed at kids growing up, usually where the punchline of the joke was either a huge age gap or making a cheap gay joke, but it’s weird to see in a show like Family Guy.
So… from what you describe as 2 of the episodes being dreams from an unconscious Peter I could see them as something of Peter’s psyche.
For the cabbin episode. With Quagmire taking over the day to where Peter doesn’t see the bear show.
Probably not the bear show itself self but probably the idea of Quagmire may one day steal his family and there’s no recovering from that.
The Meg life guard episode. Where Meg calls out Peter’s BS of loving her. Somewhere in the back of his mind he gonna wake up and understand he hurt his daughter too many times and she won’t forgive him

I'd love more Bob's Burgers videos, it's been so long since you made one that I thought you went off it! I've also redefined my views on HD Simpsons now; ever since you gave me a few recommendations a while back I've decided to see the HD era from the start... but because I'm such a slow watcher I'm only 2 episodes in. It's not the show's fault, I'm like that with almost everything. It's all thanks to you I'm watching them at all (except for the Treehouse Of Horror because I watch them every year anyway) and I've discovered that the HD era isn't so bad after all. I think something about my aspergers syndrome stopped me from watching the HD era because it seemed too much of a change animation wise, but I've really enjoyed the first two episodes (plus your recommendations, obviously) and I've decided not to be so much of a Simpsons snob from now on. You convinced me when my own dad couldn't!

I remember season 4-6 making me laugh every single scene, with season 7 - 12 also being quite funny the vast majority of the time. But now it's gotten bad to a point that The Simpsons are now better which is a shock.

i love the cabin episode but i wish Jr Roberta and Rallo had lines at least one line each i've been watching The Cleveland Show quite a bit this year and enjoying it a lot (enjoying it more than i did when i watched it back in like 2015 or 2016) i feel like if they didn't include Quagmire Joe and Bonnie they could've had Cleveland's kids speak (but that probably wouldn't happen if that was the case)

There was an incest joke that Family Guy has pretty much tried to bury. But it actually did confirm Chris and Lois had sex at least once. It was in the DVD special Stewie Griffin The Untold Story. Peter was being interviewed on a cancellation of the show. And Peter remarked about being given creative license and made mistakes like the incest episode. And in a clip of it, Chris walked into the living room where Lois was on the couch. They awkwardly stared at each other, and Chris stutters a bit before saying "Hi mom..." and she responded "Hi Chris..." and then looked at the floor. And then it cuts to Brian pounding his fist on the table and saying "WRONG! IT'S WRONG!". That bit was all over the internet, then suddenly gone. Pretty sure they did whatever possible to bury it. But the movie is actually listed as canon. Meaning that scene with Lois and Chris was canon.

As soon as I noticed Cleveland's family in the episode, I actively paid attention to see if they were given ANYTHING. And, not so surprisingly, they weren't. I think Jr. had one spoken line, but I feel like I'm being generous with that. And then Donna had one line, only to be shut down by Peter.

Skipped the anthology episode, I'm never too fond of them.
As for Lifeguard Meg, I definitely agree with the A Plot just falling off after the incest joke. I was really happy to see Meg actually saving Peter's life, and I really really thought they were going to have another genuine father/daughter bonding episode where they learn to appreciate each other more. But no, it devolved into some weird, nonsensical plot to have conflict as stated.
Then, with the B Plot- I liked the idea, but it soon became really boring. I especially found myself done with it after their long-winded joke about Chase bank. It seemed like it took up about 20% of the B plot's time.
Interesting that they did a gag with Quagmire spying on Lois. Glad his pervert jokes haven’t been completely fizzled out since that’s his thing
I feel like "lazy" is the perfect way to talk about family guy. it's probably been about a decade now where they know people will watch no matter what so they just put out nonsense
When I saw the first segment of 'Take this Job and Love It' I just kept saying "American Dad did it better." "American Dad did it better." Then during the third segment I just kept on saying "Always Sunny did it better." "Always Sunny did it better." 🤣

I dont understand the "ew, meg gave peter mouth to mouth". 1: there was nothing awkward or romantic leading up to it and 2: theyre moving away from mouth to mouth EXCEPT for immediate family i.e. your dad. It just seemed like a lazy conflict or a lazy excuse to treat meg poorly again. P.S. shoutout Clark's Trading Post (bear place)
