Hoyt also had the honor of joining John Schneider and Tom Wopat in the film "Christmas Comes to Willow Creek." He's also worth seeing in "We're No Angels."
Of course,I never said that everybody else was horrible, and especially not Sorrell Brooke.I didn't realize watching as a kid how great and accomplished of an actor he was.
Would not surprise me if this song is written about Hampton, FL. If you've not watched the news lately, it's a small corrupt town with 400 something residents in it and they have 19 cops, almost 1 per 25 people and they wrote over 12,000 tickets last year. Hoyt supposedly lived in Jacksonville, not too far from there. Coincidence?
Hoyt was born in Duncan Oklahoma. Played football in Comanche. All these little Hick towns in oklahoma are the same. It took me 15 years living outside of Elmore City "home of Footloose" to stop being harrassed everytime I went to town. Love Hoyt Axton.
I missed this episode. I used to wince watching the Dukes. But decades later, I saw good writers and here's Hoyt. What a great storyteller. Consider the tripe that out there, it's sure hard to find wit, subtle (and not so) humor. I'm embarassed to admit it was a LOT better written and portrayed than current stuff - that I just don't have patience to try to find the good stuff. I wish I wasn't so picky.
Oh the good ol' days when one man and an acoustic guitar could have something to say musically. This show was dumber than a box of rocks, but it was worth watching for the musical talent..... and Miss Daisy😍
@landrykkb i'll look that one up....always loved waylon's comments before a commercial. camera would stop on duke boy's jumping a bridge, and waylon would say something like: " i don'tknow bout' yall, but i'm gonna duck into the barn coz' i don't have the nerve to see how this is going to end, folks".
How did I not know about this. Two of my favorites, Hoyt and Waylon.
Hoyt also had the honor of joining John Schneider and Tom Wopat in the film "Christmas Comes to Willow Creek."
He's also worth seeing in "We're No Angels."

They don’t make TV shows like they use to who else remember Friday nights in front of that big box TV
That could be the theme song for every rouge cop in a poor town down south.
Gone but never forgotten ....as long as they keep gremlins alive!
love his song
Is he going to sell that shaving machine like he did in Gremlins?
Varlet , I never heard that word before Websters second defination sure suits Boss Hog
I love Duke off hazzard. There country songs.
Oh the good ol' days when one man and an acoustic guitar could have something to say musically. This show was dumber than a box of rocks, but it was worth watching for the musical talent..... and Miss Daisy😍

@1skullduggery Waylon had,in fact,covered Hoyt's 'Never Been To Spain'.
I wonder what Dukes of Hazzard episode this is with Hoyt Axton as the special guest celebrity speed trap?
I'm a good Ole Rebel....
Classic Song by Hoyt YEEEE HOOOOOOO
The gear head in me has to ask-
Why was "Guild" blacked out on his guitar?
I want to go to the Boar's Nest and have a beer 🍺
@landrykkb i'll look that one up....always loved waylon's comments before a commercial. camera would stop on duke boy's jumping a bridge, and waylon would say something like: " i don'tknow bout' yall, but i'm gonna duck into the barn coz' i don't have the nerve to see how this is going to end, folks".
1:58 for a highschool drop out im doin fine im makin more than the president now
course hes honest, I love that part- pointed at boss hogg
Yeah Sorrell Booke's face is so expressive
@TheRonnie63 I agree with you, considering most people have never even heard of him when I mentioned his name.
@landrykkb yeah, i got carried away....the only big guest-star the island ever had was a big, giant fuzzy spider.
Gremlins...lol
He was in bonanza Dead and Gone
He was also in Bonanza
What year was that?
@bigwatto95 You'd almost swear he wrote this song with them in mind,or that's what I initially thought when I first heard and saw this.
This is Dukes Of Hazzard, right?
@1skullduggery Waylon often was the saving grace of the show,I thought.
The World needs more Dukes and Less Kardahsians
I know where this song came from Ludowici Georgia were I'm from and live
Course it is,I know several old timers who were Georgia Troopers and that's pretty true
whats this song called?
"I'm the cop in a little southern town"?
"Out of state cars".
Speed trap
@1skullduggery I wouldn't go that far because nothing was as hideous as Gilligan's Island.
he's an even better singer than ol' waylon...waylon's outlaw tunes are better though.
@landrykkb it's true; without waylon, the show would be worse than gilligan's island...lol.
When you're white, police corruption is just a jokey folk song.
