    It is really unfortunate that we will probably never see this Thiem again. Sad what injuries can do to a great player.

    Dominic was a wonderful player but I don't think he will ever get back to his form.

    Rafa here was in much better form than AO 2022 and yet won AO 2022 and lost this.
    Such is life. With Novak not being there and Thiem out of form it was a boon for Rafa

      Novak was better in RG pretty much every year other than 2023, but he won it this year. You know why.

      @@NLLeFa Rafa's pretty much retiring from tennis. In AO 2022 Novak was stupidly banned by Australian government when he was there to play.

      @@user-cy6xl3vd3f I respect Novak and all his achievements and he has proved to be the best of all time. However, his level is far from his best, the only reason he still wins is due to insanely weak field, pretty much the worst tennis competition of all time. If Nadal is not playing, clay is all Djokovic, not to mention grass. Literally zero players can challenge him. Hard courts are fine, but still far from Federer/Nadal/Murray/Del Po / Wawrinka / Berdych / Tsonga times.

      @@NLLeFa I agree with the fact that it's a pretty weak era however it's hard to call it the weakest of all time when you see the physicality of these players and the pace they can play at. They mainly lack creativity, touch and especially mental toughness.
      Nonetheless we shouldn't ignore the fact that novak is still willing to improve his game. For example it's been proven that he gained 3kg in his upper body to favor an aggressive baseline game.

      tbh I think he has one plan till he retires and that will be the RG Slam. He wants this one. And for sure he will come back and is still not hurt it's just getting used to the training, the speed and the power he will need.

    It’s amazing to watch thiem beating nadal in 3 tie breakers in a single match. That’s a feat even GOAT like Djoker and Roger will be proud of.

    This match was decided by many little details, you also see Dominic being lucky with the net 3 times at crutial moments, amazing match!!!

    1:54:38 is a point Rafa wins 99.999% percent of the time, even against Novak and Roger. Rafa put his arms up after the point, kind of shrugging. Thiem played perfect tennis to win arguably the biggest point of the match.

    I genuinely only think the big 3 near their best are capable of beating Thiem at his peak.
    Although I don’t think we saw Thiem hit his full potential

    Can't quite understand in the slightest how is that they downplayed the handshake after the match. We all love seeing that, specially when both players get along well. It's a bit outrageous on me.

      It was all karma for Thiem after this. Djokovic asked him to help other players in his PTPA iniciative, this to give low ranked players some money to survive during the pLandemic.
      Thiem said he woundt give a dime because "probably they´re lazy and don't want to train, that's why they don't improve their ranking"

      @@NamTran-xc2ip rafa only lost to Federer once in 2017 but he is unlucky because he defeated Federer in 12,14 and lost in finals against nole and Wawrinka..nole played 10 matches with Nadal in Roland Garros but if they played the same number in Australia rafa could got atleast 3 wins

      @@Laland_1196 Nole is way more consistent on clay than Nadal outside of it. Djokovic has made 7 RG finals, 10+ semi finals. Nadal only has 5 finals and 5 sfs in Australia.
      The reason they don’t play often in Australia because Nadal is often not good enough to advance and meet Djokovic. Nadal has not taken a single set off Djokovic on hc for the last decade, so even if they did face there will be no chance for Nadal.

      @@NamTran-xc2ip I'm not saying Nadal win everytime against nole but if Nadal is not injured in his career he could meet nole many times and beat him atleast 3 ..The fact that Nadal didn't won a set against him is irregular meetings like 2015-16 Nadal out of form ,then faced in Australia open and atp cup which is Djokovic court ..but I'm sure if they met in American hardcourts rafa has the edge ..imagine rafa meeting Djokovic in Rogers cup 2019 and US Open that year ..
