Really seems like Thiem put everything he had into this match. He hasn’t been the same physically or mentally since. But, he won a major. Very few can say that in this era.

3:18:11 just realized how well this point was played from Thiem. He goes sooo far down to play the return, then slowly gain some territory while Zverev goes to the net, then turns defense into attack very aggressively, and wins the point in a powerful fashion. Strategically amazing.

idk if that's strategicall amazing, we all knew he was going to stand that far back and he just pounded the ball right at zverev when he blundered up to the net. Thiem did do well though to keep the ball flat and low so that Zverev had to volley upwards

Thiem thoroughly deserved to win a major by now. He's played Rafa in two French finals and was up 2-1 against Djokovic in Australia, not to mention he's beaten both of them at majors. Well deserved victory

Extremely well said most of the guys are against thiem and hate him and many tennis channels call themselves honest and critisize thiem like none. Federer won 14 slams without facing the big 2 does that mean he didn't deserve it and more over thiem was the only guy to have taken 2 sets to 1 lead against novak at ao final and pushed novak to the limits so he could have defeated novak at us open where novak is more vulnerable compared to ao. We all saw medvedev couldn't touch novak and won just 9 games so definitely thiem can beat anyone. He got nervous in this match cause he was the favourite to win it had novak been on the other thiem would have been an underdog and nerves wouldn't have played a great part and would have for sure played much better .

This might be Thiem's only slam, I don't see him reaching finals, on any surface, with his massive slump, neither Zverev, it would be the greatest upset, if he actually made the finals of the French, and took out Nadal!

Idk, that wasn't their best match for sure, but nobody can say that it wasn't a thriller and a great comeback.
Also, if Djokovic wasn't disqualified (which he totally deserved by the way, not because he injured the line judge, but because of recklessness) there's still a fair chance Thiem would have won. We can't declare every tournament invalid, just because the big 3 aren't in it. Wait until they retire.

Kinda funny looking back on this 2-3 years of men's tennis before the sinner and alcaraz takeover when we thought players like this and medvedev were the guys to lead tennis after the big 4. Watching this match I'm glad they aren't as the rallies are so much like they're feeling their opponent out, waiting for an error, only occasionally going for winners once the chance is there. Sinner and alcaraz go for shots all the time and are much quicker, and every second rally is epic
