    nobody would have survived this brutal attack by thiem other than djokovic. man was spitting fire with each backhand .

      Nadal survived his one-handed backhand in QF US Open 2018. First set Thiem won 6-0. Probably the most physical game in lst decade.
      Full game is on YT.

    The problem was that Thiem was able to adapt to Nole's game at the end of the first set. In the next two sets, Novak could hardly find any winner. Throughout the latter part of the third set, Nole conserved his energy and slowed down the tempo which is an extremely crucial part to disrupt Thiem's confidence and rhythm. In the last two sets, Thiem was still going strong, but too many UEs had gone in to his head while Djoker just kept the ball in play. The worst performance in an AO final for Djoker, but it highlighted his tactical intelligence and mental toughness as he refused to go away and protect his perfect record in this stage of the tournament.

    En el inicio del partido Djokovic abrazó sonriente y afectuoso al niño , Thiem sin sonreír apoyó su brazo en el hombro del niño ,
    en la segunda vez hizo lo mismo, cuando la foto fue solo con Novak estiró su boca y apareció una rara sonrisa .
    No me gustó su conducta x eso disfruté que perdiera aunque su entrenador sea un compatriota.

    Thiem did not play with the same precision and aggression as he did against Nadal in this same tournament. He made very few unforced errors and hit some incredible shots with Nadal. He also had a lot of power on his shots, but it seemed like Thiem was a little intimidated by Djokavic. His play was more timid. Too bad because if he had played with the same zeal he did against Nadal, he probably would've won.

    • @viksinha5410
      @viksinha5410 Год назад +2

      His level dropped in the fourth set; part of it was Novak’s medical timeout and part of it was maybe his nerves. I wouldn’t say he choked but he definitely could have won.

    • @bonzwah1

      Physical wear and tear may have been in play. Prime thiem was probably the most physically intense player on tour at the time. But also, nadal’s heavy topspin balls are not as fast as djokovic’s relatively flatter strikes. Thiem is at his best when he is generating rather than redirecting. He prefers a slower pace of play that nadal gives compared to djokovic (on hard courts of course)

    • @e2go

      Yeah no, Nadal's topspin on this hard court just fell right into Thiem's hitting zone, he was able to just tee off. He did that occasionally in this match but the opportunities to do so were a lot less.
