I love how you're straight to the point, no bullshit. Honest content with not a whole lot of editing and transitions or music. Great video Miles, have a good day.
Really well done video. One piece of advice though is, one of the first things you learn, when you're into EVs is that when you are DC Fast Charging, the charging speed slows down dramatically when you charge past about 80%. This is done to protect the battery as it approaches full charge. That's why companies quote charging speeds from 10-80% or 20-80%. Those times are usually about 20-35 minutes. The last 20% probably takes about the same time again. So, you would normally sit charging for an hour unless you really, really need that last 20%. As you said though, it is a huge advantage if you have a 240 volt outlet at home. Then you wake up every morning with a full "tank" and at a fraction of the cost of gasoline.
With the current state of charging technology, if someone lacks a means to charge at home _or_ at work, an EV shouldn't realistically be considered quite yet as a daily driver. DC chargers at this moment in time are mostly for road trips. Also avoid charging to 100% to save time if you're in a hurry. A more depleted battery typically charges faster.
Great video, EV charging definitely needs some planning. Charger at home is the way to go. The i4 comes with 2 years of free charging at Electrify America which is great for long distance driving. Some people prefer the rear wheel i4 derive 40.
12:55 My only pet peeves with EVs because how to pass the time. There's only so much games I can play, or videos to watch while i wait. Other than that I love what I see. Great review ❤
Public charging is probably a huge issue with EVs and prevent a lot of people from buying them if they don’t live in an individual house with a garage or private driveway. Question about the car have you driven the M440i and is the suspension setup similar
Excellent review, especially the part about living with an EV if you don't have access to home charging. On a different note could you review the Apple watch Ultra particularly how it fits into a workout routine as compared with Garmin or some other fitness watches?
The one thing that's really putting me off an EV are the daft charging stations where you have to register for different companies. Imagine if petrol stations did and how annoying it must be if you do not have or even want a smartphone. EV charging companies need to start working like a proper petrol station. So you can just pull up. Insert card and do your PIN. _Power up._ Then just drive off. No registrations needed. That aside. The i4 M50 is a beast of a car. I personally love the looks and it's usability. Though i don't like the price as I'm on a disability pension so there's no way I'd ever afford one. Good video by the way ;-))...
I liked the video. I was surprised that you didn't use the cars built in ability to find chargers for you. Didn't you get the EA 2 year free charging with this? Also have you looked into installing a charger at home. Driving out everyday with an 80% charge seems like the way to go.
Kind of annoyed I don’t get the longer format video to my recommended. The only reason I found it was I searched for this topic after watching your short.
Great review - check out the i4 edrive 40 which is RWD model w 335 HP and theoretical 301 Miles of range w/ 18” wheels; would love one of these as a daily once the prices are down a bit more
Hi Miles - great video! I think you said that DAPP doesn’t have auto lane change. It does, so I might have misheard. As people learn about the car, they’ll learn the most efficient charging settings. Also, I rarely drive more than 50 miles per day, so a 7 pm to 7 am charge gets me that 50 miles at only 6 cents per kWh.
This is a great review. I really enjoy your content. I think you leaned too heavily into the "m" badge. This was never intended to be a full blown m car. For the class it fits in I think it's a good alternative. This is akin to the m340/m440 not the m3/m4. Totally agree that the baby m cars shouldn't be called m though.!
Yeah, you definitely want to have a charger at home if you buy a full-electric EV. Without that, I don't think they are really viable unless you have access to the Tesla charging network.
My old man had one for 5 years, never got to drive it but I agree that it is fantastic. I'd definitely do some content on one if I can find an interesting example
@@CarswithMiles I can’t wait will my comment pop on the screen if so that’s crazy also ur new video about the bmw is so nice I like how u got the car and showed us the features I love ur videos and ur content and ur ideas keep up the good work
Its so freakn ridiculous you have to use an app to charge. EV Go LICKS NUTS. Why the FFFFFFFF can't they just make it like a gas pump so people can just slide a visa through. I love electric cars but drive a Volt because it can run on gas. The charging infrastructure is a joke everywhere. Even here in California, the state with the most EV's.

His channel is if MKBHD was into cars instead of tech! Amazing stuff!

I love the grill. I just don't know why it's caused so much negative chatter
Hey man, keep up the great vids! Love your vibe 😊

This content is absolutely A++. Nit even sure how I came across your channel but glad I did. Keep it up Miles. Love the content dude.

I have yet to drive the M440i. But I would imagine the suspension setup is slightly different for this car given the powertrain
i love your style of car review

There won't be any Apple reviews from me going forward but I appreciate the feedback!
That drop charging was not AC. That was the 80% SoC plateau. After that point, most cars drop charging rate appriciably.
Love your content

Awesome Review 🎉
Sticky summer tires on the 20" rims plus very silent drive might be why you hear rocks vs. Other EVs.
Thank you for sharing this!
My pleasure!

Mkbhd of cars 👌👌🔥🔥
what are your picks for cheapest project cars?
I have a hrv & idk what to do to it. Can you do a video on an hrv budget mod?
BMW forum people always protecting BMW, even they know the Charging Speed is a LIE.
Pretty sure the AC doesn't pull 20kW. It probably just happened to hit a lower point in the charging curve.
6:13 😂😂😂
Where did you end up putting your front plate?
What front plate 😄

what happened to the tow hook cover?
Fell off :(
My last two jobs, both employers have charging on site.
I got mine ordered for like 10 months already, estimate delivery only next year, ffs I cant wait anymore 😅
Ordered mine this July and it's already on its way to the east coast. I should take delivery in the next two weeks.
It’s worth the wait. You will LOVE it!
Unlike the real mkdhb, he actually knows about cars

Wow that´s the first time RUclips recommended one of the longer videos you make.

Today we know its not the real M Build...its like a M440i, not like an M4. But next year the real M will come...with nearly 800-900HP
