Nice video, Bjørn. Thanks for all the tests you performed, very fun and informative, as always. I have this car on order but I'm still considering whether to flip it or not. @@mrcstb7479 True, but luckily in Europe we have en excellent motorway network that allows for 130 km/h as a general limit. Even more so, in Germany the 130 km/h is a recommendation but not a limit :-) By my experience the unlimited sections even the typical handworker vans are travelling at speeds of 150 km/h or even faster. Wondering which EVs they will pick over the next years… The right most lane is then almost completely occupied by trucks that occasionally even block the middle lane when overtaking, the so cold elefant rally :-) Given the many obstructions e.g. traffic jams and construction sites spanning often over 10+ kilometers with only 5 kms until the next one, unless choosing to fly, higher speed is the option to make up for the lost time and get to your destination in relatively cosniderable time. This becomes especially important if one has a fix appointment in an other city that is 4-500 kms away and even more so if the plan is to even get home on the same day. After all a hotel stay also increases the CO2 footprint, perhaps this is why it seems to be popular among EV drivers to sleep in the car :-) Of course even on the Autobahn it is not always possible to come forward really fast and to do so you need the good quality roads, good weather, dense traffic but these are the same in case of Bjørn’s tests too. But don’t get me wrong, I don’t want to propagate speeding and even less so reckless driving that I don’t do at all. I simply wished to give Bjørn a real world reference point for his comparrisons, that he can quote when he makes the 1000km challenges. This way he can keep pushing EV manufacturers to further extend the limits of technology, so that in a relatively short time, everybody can find an EV suiting his/her needs.
How is it possible to turn AC off and still have te climate control in Auto? In the car that I was test driving it wasn’t possible to put AC off with climate control in Auto.
We don't know if it would take 200 kW or not. Even on Ionity's 350 kW chargers, I was only getting 150 kW many times. And the 175 kW on ABB chargers are only for 800 V cars.
Am I the only one that is NOT happy with the charging speed and Battery capacity? LOW range, heavy? Slow charge? $ 82000 USD after all options? Come on man
I really like BMW interiors and driving feel. But this review makes me more confident in my decision to buy a Model 3 SR. Look at the figures: this car charges so fast and has such a big battery. But it uses SOO much energy, that the advantages of that just peel away. And for that you pay so much more. As always; great review! ☺️
Just checked out the BMW configurator. You can buy almost two SR+ for the price of the car Bjorn is testing. Which, purely based on the EV skills of the car seems like a very good deal!
@@lowelindroth7053 That's correct, just like a cheaper 320i has better range than an M8 Competition. Doesn't mean the 320i is better or that the M8 should be cheaper than the 320i. Range alone can't determine the price of a car.
The model 3 Standard will also charge with 140 kW average for 10 min on a V3 supercharger with preconditioned battery. I have logs to prove it. As for die i4 i am at least glad that BMW finally managed to bring it to the table. It will attract more buyers to the EV scene, that still believe service experience and sound proofing are most important. Yet for everyone else the Model 3 is leaps and bounds above this car and keeps improving.

True, but luckily in Europe we have en excellent motorway network that allows for 130 km/h as a general limit. Even more so, in Germany the 130 km/h is a recommendation but not a limit :-)
By my experience the unlimited sections even the typical handworker vans are travelling at speeds of 150 km/h or even faster. Wondering which EVs they will pick over the next years…
The right most lane is then almost completely occupied by trucks that occasionally even block the middle lane when overtaking, the so cold elefant rally :-)
Given the many obstructions e.g. traffic jams and construction sites spanning often over 10+ kilometers with only 5 kms until the next one, unless choosing to fly, higher speed is the option to make up for the lost time and get to your destination in relatively cosniderable time. This becomes especially important if one has a fix appointment in an other city that is 4-500 kms away and even more so if the plan is to even get home on the same day.
After all a hotel stay also increases the CO2 footprint, perhaps this is why it seems to be popular among EV drivers to sleep in the car :-)
Of course even on the Autobahn it is not always possible to come forward really fast and to do so you need the good quality roads, good weather, dense traffic but these are the same in case of Bjørn’s tests too.
In the car that I was test driving it wasn’t possible to put AC off with climate control in Auto.
я на поло проеду за 5 часов!
Like this car more and more.
@7:48: the charger seems to only provide a maximum of 175 kW. Do you deduct time for this (if the car maxes out while charging)?
We don't know if it would take 200 kW or not. Even on Ionity's 350 kW chargers, I was only getting 150 kW many times. And the 175 kW on ABB chargers are only for 800 V cars.
@@bjornnyland thank you!
All this customisations in the UI only try to fix a menu that is too deep imho
"Laik ah Baawssee!" 😂
Cupra Born next? :D
Love BMW🥰
Teslas look like budget electric cars when compared to the German counter parts!!!
Am I the only one that is NOT happy with the charging speed and Battery capacity? LOW range, heavy? Slow charge? $ 82000 USD after all options? Come on man
Hi Bjørn. So is the iX3 better?
Why do Tesla's seem to have a much lower energy use per km than other cars?
*Teslas
Because they know how to build good EVs.
Remember that's not the long range version of the i4 , it's the performance version.
@@jamviator Correct, the cheaper version of the i4 also has better range than the M50!
Yet for everyone else the Model 3 is leaps and bounds above this car and keeps improving.
damn is that a massive notch on the screen wtf ...it's good that most of the time u can't see it
You should do Oslo > Björnrike and then ski some :D
Why?
@@bjornnyland It's fun also could make great content driving on smaller roads in the woods. A bit boring to drive E6 - E4- E14 all the time
You missed the whole point with this test then.
@@bjornnyland Well it's still a range test and you could try do it in less than 10 hours since it's the same range. Don't have to be björnrike but would be nice to see how electric cars does in more rural areas.
Diesel and petrol are so expensive now here in sweden so I might need to sell my V60 and would love to see if it's even possible to drive more rural and still be able to have one.
