Following step by step on my Astra F, almost identical except for 30 mill castle nut on wheel hub. Grub screw was a real PITA but otherwise going better than I thought.
I don't have a VXR and and I sold my ST recently but still enjoy your vids fixing standard UK cars. At some point you should get a cheap shitbox car that everyone has, like a Fiesta, and do some tutorial fixes on it a bit like "The Savage Garage". Also 6:40 violating yourself haha.
@@mastersmods health issues the past year meant I hardly drove and when I did it was short local journeys. MOT was due and couldn't justify the cost for it to sit there so moved it on.
@@mastersmods Yeh i'm in better health. Sold it back in January so not so bad now but gutted at the time with all the work I put into it. I've got a shitbox now to tinker with that's off the road as I don't need a daily car. Like watching yours coming along though as my mate had an astra vxr Nurburgring which was lovely.
Good video. Good tip about the gearbox filler plug. Also if you leave the gearbox filler plug open when you drain the gearbox it will drain quicker. You really should have removed the old grease and cleaned the inner CV joint. Grit and crap could have contaminated the old grease. How much oil did you put back in the chocolate box?
That is true mate yeah I should have cleaned it out, I wasn't thinking properly there! I did leave the plug undone but not off as I didn't want anything to potentially fall in. I out 2.6 back in as there's still around 200ml still in the box
I’m not sure why you unbolted the hub and drained the gearbox oil? Just undo the bottom ball joint and yank it out. You won’t loose oil from the gearbox they’re sealed.
Took me a while as I had no idea what I was doing. If you do and have enough access ie a ramp then I don't think it would take that long. 2 hours tops I'd say
@@justanotherfaceinthecrowd ha ha you've always had bag of shit cars 😜😂 yeah I'm okay mate. How you doing? You weren't doing great the last time I saw/spoke to you

Oh really? That's good 👌
All can be avoided by undoing 2 bolts on strut and it will pop out
Top video mate really enjoyed watching that fair play to ya will deffo refer to this video if I ever need to change mine lol
Ha ha cheers matey

I actually really want a mk6 fiesta st but atm I have my eyes on bigger things. How come you sold up?

@@neil_st6073 that's a shame mate. Are you goodnow?

What a pain in the arse 😂 need this doing on mine as well
You know summot mate, it's actually really easy to do just long winded 😂

If that's what you do and it works for you then great. This was just how I'd seen how to do it so that's what I did.
My thinking too! Drop bottom ball joint and track rod, hub nut you're pretty much there 🤔 gotta do mine soon 😂
Got this exact problem with mine at the minute lol
Annoying ain't it 😵
Iv todo this to mine tomorrow after work. just spotted mine was split in the same place. How long did it take you todo it? Start to finish

Was yours just leaking or was your steering feeling abit shakey or a vibration feel when accelerating slowly ?
@@darrenmicklewright2008 just leaking mate
If you Jack the car higher it doesn't leak anything when the shaft comes out
Oh really? That's fair enough. I would say I'll know for next time but hopefully I don't have to do it again 😂
@@mastersmods 😂😂😂😂
There is a driveshaft oil seal on there. It won’t leak any even if the car is level.
Alright mate, took me a while to click where I knew your face from.. used to work with you at AMS a long time ago.
Chris
Chris with the 206? Lmao
Ye haha, long time eh… I’ve got a bag of shit astra turbo too now 😆

@@justanotherfaceinthecrowd mate I think we all have that in one way or another 😂
Random question, but is it possible for the front end of the car to shake or swing from a bad CV joint
Driveshaft maybe but I doubt just a bad cv would but then again I'm not a mechanic maye 😂
@@mastersmods thanks m8
Did u put the gear oil back in lol
