My Beloved finished breast cancer treatment a few months back- all clear, all good, big scare- and that wipes out your appetite and taste buds. She lived, for a time, on those little Banquets dinners. I am a fine cook and she begged me not to bother while she was ill.
There were two things she wished for when her palette returned: a table full of goodies at our favorite Chinese joint and my turkey/spinach meatloaf with a wheelbarrel of whip potatoes and creme corn.
Good to hear she's doing well. Did she get what she asked for?
I really hope she's still doing well now in 2024. Lost my sweetheart to the ugly "C" in 2008.
Really enjoy the depth of your content. You appeal to the side of me that loves a quality, easy, frozen meal... But you also speak to my connoisseur side with the consideration to nutritional value and quality assessment.
Just because it's frozen food doesn't mean you can't review it and share your results beautifully.

also i'd like to suggest being on the lookout for items by plumrose. i quite like their pork and ham wannabe spam and their bacon grill-nothing amazing, but still quite nice
Been watching for vitamin content - most frozen has very little to zero. If they just left the vitamins in, instead of going to all the expense of extracting them, we could have a Banquet for 99¢!

TheWolfePit Stouffer's is better of course. Banquet meals are something you eat when you're a kid or maybe a teenager, or on a budget. BUT none of it is good for you of course.
Microwaves use a surprisingly small amount of energy. Electric range, toaster, and even coffee pot use way more. Thanks for another good review.
I don't like a lot of frozen foods and stuff like that but Stouffer's has the best Frozen foods
Deborah Salo My Grandmother used to work at Stouffer's when I was young. I loved their food. She always had a freezer full of it because she hated to cook.

I agree, Stouffers is pretty good. Here's a hint, since the Stouffers doesnt come with a vegetable aside from the potatoes I add a handful of mixed frozen vegetables and distribute them around the meat loaf over the frozen gravy then re-cover it and cook as normal in the micro, it's good in the gravy and you get a more balanced meal.
ace Stouffers has been consistently good. I always bring them for lunch at work

I used to like the old Swanson dinners in the aluminum trays that took 40 minuted to cook. They were actually decent compared to today's crap. Even Swanson dinners are crap these days and Stouffer's, while pretty good is worse than they worse not long ago. I can taste a difference.
I love the Stouffer's Meatloaf with mashed potatoes meal & have noticed heating it in the oven as opposed to the microwave makes a huge difference IMO. I also love their Salisbury Steak with macaroni & cheese meal & have also noticed heating that one in the oven as opposed to the microwave makes a difference. Just my opinion, but both are yummy prepared that way. 😊
I always make my meatloaf the day before if I can. Slice it up cold and pan fry each slice in a cast iron pan so each slice is crunchy and delicious like the end piece

The Stouffer's meatloaf looks more like Salisbury steak. However, it looked a whole lot better than the Banquet's meatloaf. Banquet's meals are general not worth the effort. IMHO
you are not being pessimistic by stating the fact that this product says "made in the USA" and pointing out the fact that it doesn't necessarily meaning all ingredients are too...that is a good, honest, and complete evaluation of the product. That's what we want to hear...and I assume your reason for doing this...don't ease off, continue just as you are, these are thorough and honest evaluations. Thanks for sharing.

I love meatloaf. My mother used to hide things in her loaves. Hot dogs, boiled eggs, blocks of cheese and smoked sausage. I don't do that. But I like almost any homemade loaf.

janet lavergne I agree. Meatloaf is sooo good. My Mother used to put a small amount of fresh picked green beans in hers when I was a kid. The best part is a cold meatloaf sandwich with a little ketchup on it. It hits the spot when you need a little late night snack.😍
I used to work in an Stouffers food plant and I can tell you that those potatoes are real potatoes not from flakes. We steamed the cubed potatoes in huge steaming rooms. The meat is also ground right there and mixed with all the ingredients. I love Stouffers foods and they are the only frozen foods I eat because I know how they are made.
I would only spend $1.27 on a meal if I was trying to impress a woman.

In Sweden we have our meatloafs with a sauce called brunsås (brownsauce) and lingonberry jam and potatoes (why butter on the mashed potatoes)

Sadly the Stouffer's meatloaf gravy looks better and more like their Salisbury steak gravy. Please do a Salisbury steak frozen dinner line up. I swear when I was a kid I used to love Salisbury steak tv dinners with dark beefy gravy, now that I'm older and disabled and have to cook for one I can't find a decent Salisbury steak frozen dinner to save my life. Great videos please keep up the good work. Please do more Walmart items. Walmart is the only image that we'll bring the groceries out to my van and it is easy after I place my order online. Getting home and getting out is still tough, but Walmart doing the shopping and loading for me is great.
I actually just had a banquet meatloaf meal for the first time ! I mixed it all together! Except for the apples . Obviously it ain’t no home made meatloaf dinner ! But for a quick snack when I was starving!! I liked it ! 😂 I’ll have to try the stouffers! It looked better? But no corn or green beans? Or Apples ? Oh well ? What do ya want for a easy 1or 2 dollar meal .
I just ate meatloaf before watching this. My dad's girlfriend always makes meatloaf wrapped in bacon!!!! It's sooooo goooood!!!

Put a good portion of the gravy Into the mashed potatoes with some garlic salt, butter & enjoy the results (Stouffer's) OR grated cheddar , butter , garlic salt ...
🙋🏼Hi Wolf, my memories of TV dinners are the same as yours. Waiting a long time for them to cook in the oven, but getting to sit in front of the TV and eat was the best part. Especially because back them it was all about everyone coming together at the dinner table each night and mom putting out a home cooked meal. So back then a TV dinner in front of the TV was like a treat. I actually miss the only days of sitting around the dinner table. I don't know about you, but doesn't it seem like the TV dinners of yesteryear were made of better stuff and not filled with all of these chemicals and fillers?
I do want to say I love these videos you do on the different TV dinners. I like to hear your honest impression of the food and the fact that you show all of the info on the food. The only thing I haven't seen you do is a video on pizzas. I know it would probably require you to turn on the oven because pizza (as with many foods) and only be done right in the oven. I know it's easier to microwave food, and that's the way most people will cook these dinners. But I have a great idea for a video. How about buying the same dinner but cook one in the microwave and one in the oven and show the difference in how it looks and tastes. I've tried this at home and you would be surprised at how much differences there can be with certain dinners. Anyway, keep up the great videos, I'll keep watching. Take care, Dee😊👍

$1.27... after subtracting the cost of production, the cost of the packaging, the cost of distribution, the manufacturer's profit and the store's profit, it's amazing they can even put food inside.
I used to like the Banquet meatloaf dinner. They changed it not to long ago. You didn't get the desert & you got 2 pieces of meat. The potatoes were better in the older version too.

I noticed the Banquet meatloaf, salisbury steak and bbq meat is the same,They use the same "meat" but make slight variants of the sauce But for those nights when you want a quick meal , not too bad.

Agree white 🍞 makes it taste better but other ways pretty good my hubby loves it with pickles and cheese slices on white 🍞 leftover sandwiches i am saying i don't need pickles or and cheese each their own
I sometimes shop in a supermarket called Morrisons on the hot food counter saw meatloaf so gave it a go , not the best tasting thing I've had but not the worst , I assume it's made with the leftover scraps of meat plus a few spices .
A little salt n pepper always does wonders for taste, and that apple dessert is yummy with vanilla ice cream sprinkled with a little cinnamon.

LOVE meatloaf! The Stouffer's one is my favorite. When I make homemade I use ground turkey and sundried tomatoes and oatmeal for filler.

Oven, 3500 watt elements on steady for 20 minutes just to preheat. Microwave, probably around 1000 watts for a few minutes. Microwave usually wins quite handily for power consumption. There are a few exceptions.

Put a dollop of butter or margarine before the heating process, improving the taste. The meatloaf at Hometown Buffet is the best restaurant meatloaf.

I used to like Banquet but not anymore. The cinnamon-apple dessert is a new addition & can make it seem--on the box--like there's more food there. But there's not. The tray itself seems to be the same size I remember it being (as least for the last several years). However, in order to add the dessert, Banquet reduced size of everything else--half the meatloaf patty we used to get, 2/3 the mashed potatoes we used to get (which were never that much to begin with), & half the corn we used to get (& personally, I love Banquet corn so I miss that the most).

Some years ago, I worked as a cook in a nursing homes The meat loaf was more like bread loaf with a little meat. And it was worse when we had to liquify it for the residents who couldn't chew their food.

The smaller version of Stouffer's meatloaf meal tastes better than the larger one or at least the meatloaf does. It has two cooking times too...half the time at 100% and the other half at 50%. I usually microwave some frozen baby peas too and put them in the mashed potato section. Also I cook it for 30 seconds less then the time says and the potatoes don't get all dried out.
