    In my humble opinion Oleksandr Usyk has to be , now at his peak the best physical, mental and psychological boxer-fighter in the HW division. That performance was immense and the best southpaw I have had the privilege to watch in over 30 years. This guy has everything- a real pugilist. He silenced and fed 70 000 with his undisputed skills. A real bad man!
    Absolutely fabulous.

      he hasn't got much power, not saying he isn't great or the best ATM but nobody has it all and he lacks a bit of power to be as entertaining as the true legends. eg Lewis, Ali , Tyson etc.

      @@ljs185 I wasn't arguing with him , just throwing my 2 cents in. I boxed heavyweight myself and southpaw heavyweights were are a nightmare to fight in the amateurs coz you never got time to prepare. Joshua does have time to prepare though. He needs some good southpaw sparring, can't think of anybody off hand though ha ha. When you fight these big hard hitting southpaws i found targeting the body was my best way of getting close. Usyk has such good movement that you need to cut the ring off then basically toe to toe him. He moves the head well but won't get the body out the way so easily. A sneaky combination that works v southpaws is a jab ,double right hand, and finish on the left hook. Its a bit awkward but so are those bastards. AJ never doubled up the right hand once.

  • @Cristopher-S.G
    @Cristopher-S.G 3 года назад +40

    Usyk is already a legend, he became Undisputed Cruiserweight Champion faster than anyone before in only 15 fights(winning the first-ever Muhammad Ali trophy in the process), then he jumps to the HW division and in only 3 fights he becomes unified HW champion of the world, but even more impressive he took the Road Warrior approach, he won all his titles at both Cruiser and heavyweight at his opponent's home, and he's undefeated. Add to that the Gold medal at the Olympic games, and the World Championship he won at the amateurs.

    Legendary performance from Usyk. First I want to big up AJ for taking on all comers and always fighting the best. As far as Uysk what a performance. From the first bell he had his left hand landing and that made Joshua hesitant. Joshua wasn't leading with any punches early, he was just looking for the big right hand. Later on he tried to let his hands go and at times he had succes but most of the time, Uysk was countering everything beautifully. The way Uysk landed his own jab over Joshuas and the sneaky right hooks over Joshua's lead hand was beautiful. Constant movement, countering, never allowing AJ to set his feet, throwing punches to draw AJ and then counter him. Congratulations to Usyk who once again goes into the lions den and beats the home fighter.

    In the Heavyweight division you either have to have a ramrod jab eg: Holmes, Lewis, Klitschko or you have tremendous movement and timing like Tyson or Jones Jr in order to sustain your reign as champion. AJ doesn't have neither. He relies on size and power too much. I always thought that Usyk would win. AJ is now in the same position as Wilder where he has to try and beat a technician in a rematch when he has already taught you a lesson. AJ is going to need a Michael Jackson style transformation to have a chance in the rematch and that doesn't happen in 6 months.

    I don't think I've ever been so far away from general consensus with my scoring as I am here. (And I had AJ coming from behind against Povetkin) I was that guy who scored Uysk by 2-3 rounds. I had AJ ahead at the end of 9 and had him winning 7,8 and 9 in a row. I didn't see this destruction, at least not until the 12thl. I saw a very competitive matchup where Uysk broke the trend and came out super fast. That backhand he was landing early was beautiful but it stopped landing regularly after 4, AJ made the adjustment and it didn't start landing until after AJ's eye started swelling up in the 9th. He had Uysk swinging and missing wildly at times, Uysk was marked up under both eyes and I felt AJ had great success to the body. Uysk looked uncomfortable to me during the mid rounds. He was moaning about low blows, shaking his head in frustration and hIs body language didn't speak of a one sided route at all.
    Having said all that, Usyk started fast and finished very strong. His footwork was beautiful, his double left hook late was ultra impressive and the way he finished 10,11 and especially 12, really coloured the fight for me. He boxed out of his skin and at times, I was really wow'd.
    I'm not sure why AJ abandoned the body work, Uysk had no answer for it and wasn't countering off of it either.
    I thought it was really entertaining and I'd happily watch the rematch, even if it's likely to play out in a similar fashion. Huge props to both men
    I know how this comment might be taken and maybe I'll get some shiz for it but that's okay! I've been watching and reading about boxing long enough to feel comfortable in having a different opinion from even the overwhelming majority in this case. It could just be I've got this wildly wrong and maybe rewatching the fight might alter my opinion.

    • @Gorguruga
      @Gorguruga 3 года назад +5

      Good points. I didn't see a "one-sided beatdown" at all but Usyk finished very strong and AJ was exhausted in the last 3 rounds, fighting with one eye shut. Usyk managed his energy amazingly. It looked like he was tiring by the 8th round but he got a second wind and came on strong down the stretch. I was actually very impressed with AJ's upper body movement for a lot of that fight. The truth is up until end of round 9, that fight was close, a toss up. It's from round 9 AJ says he could only see out one eye. It was only that final round which was truly one-sided. The first 9 rounds, as a whole, were a lot closer than that. Round 10, 11, Usyk started pulling away. Round 12 was the only one-sided round in the fight. So I'm a bit surprised by Hatman describing it as a "one-sided beatdown" as that's not a true representation of the fight as a whole, it only describes round 12.
