you were smart to bring in dirt that has no rock in it, we used excess dirt from building our house as a back stop and with a 5.56 I blew up some rocks in my back stop luckily we were about 50 to 60 yards away.
Great job. Wish I had a larger piece of land like you. I’m looking at something similar but attaching the 2x10/12 on both sides of a 4x6 then filling the inside space with sand. Stacking the sand bags to hold the dirt looks like it worked well. With wood rotting in Florida I thought about a heavy gauge galvanized posts then boxing them in with wood to protect them and skipping the wood 4x6s. Would you have changed anything you’ve done? I looked at the heavy rubber stall mats at Rural King and Tractor supply and thought I could attach those on the front to help slow down any misses too preserve the wood face and not have sand leaking. I’m still trying to see what my best options are. I can’t have anything penetrate and go thru the wood. Most powerful round I’d shoot is a 9mm. No rifle rounds except a 22 AR style. Any suggestions please chime in. Much appreciated. 🙏🔫🇺🇸
Glad to see your a well rounded sportsmen, nice range, you should hook up with Roland, he does it all as well, he makes world class turkey calls as well, you two are my favorite channels
Been a fan of Flats Class since day one. Glad to see you doing everything outdoors. Moved from Central Florida 6 years ago. Now have 30 acres, ave my own pistol range (the pit) as well as 100 yard rifle range. Now fish the big bend area. Keep up the good work. Love the fishing vids!!
Hey CA After watching this video I now know where the gunfire originates in our neighborhood. I live a couple of blocks from ya. I have been watching your shows and enjoy them Thanks
Looks like fun I did mine and railroad ties and behind it I have a huge pile of brush and tires, but nothing but woods behind my property thousand acres
Not bad for 1-1,300. Save you money in memberships fees in a few years or range fees after a few dozen shoots. Plus the freedom to shoot whenever you want, save on gas, privacy, etc. Great investment. I plan to make mine wider, so two people can shoot comfortably (and safely). Still debating if I should buy dirt or just dig it up myself. Cut down some trees or buy wood. Time vs money. I do like the idea of the range being from materials from my property. Thankfully I got nothing but miles of trees behind my house. I've been looking for ideas and I do like the simplicity of this. Like the netting too. Was thinking of doing that for a roof/shade but might have to do it on the sides too.
Didn’t need to watch this one more then once. Capt. CA, I had no idea you were a hunter as well ( pro 2nd amendment ) 🔥! I didn’t think I would need more of a reason to follow you! HECK YEAH 🇺🇸🔥👍
It’s not going to last. You should have use all the wood from your old back stop, stack and mix it up with your fresh dirt to make it thicker and it will last longer. You need to fill out the sides of your back stop and higher need a lot more dirt! In a few days weeks or months all that fresh dirt is going down to the ground about 3 feet the most.
To avoid all this "Captain Safety" non sense buy property in States that have mountains or rolling hills, that way you don't have to make RUclips videos on how super safe you are building Berms. I bought 8.4 Acres somewhere east TN and I have a 250 yard range and everything in between with natural backstops, oh and the good thin about it Rolling hills land is like 75% cheaper then flat land.
This was a really fun project. Such a great reward for a couple days of hard work. Thanks for letting me be apart of it.
You the man Dave… couldn’t have happened without you!
Very nice. I love the way you made it look nice.
Looks like freedom to me! This is my plan when I get a bit of land. Great investment.
Nice range and great video. Thanks!
One of the best range construction set ups I have seen. Super clean look, great job Capt. R!
That is a caddilac pistol stop. You're woodsy yard looks good. I can tell you've put your time in taking care of it. Great video keep'm coming
I don’t watch any television anymore so the yard looks like a golf course 😂
Love it, looks like a blast!

Thanks
How many acres do you need to legally build a range in Florida?
Its 1 acre per structure (house)
Add some hanging frying pans….., bing bing bing!….. fun stuff
Looks like fun I did mine and railroad ties and behind it I have a huge pile of brush and tires, but nothing but woods behind my property thousand acres
Wished I had friends like Dave and Dave. 😆

Hes totally one of us!
And there is an additional fare you can get…..think about that…..”I went fishing with CA, then we went shooting! What an awesome day!”…..
Great team built berm. Terrible team shooting habits.
I hope you guys get better with practice at your new range.
2A forever! Put those FN's to use. I pray this video and your beliefs do not run aground to any of your sponsors or yucktube demonitized.
Freedom should never get you ostracized by sponsors. Period. Liberty is not a bad word.
All of our partners live in the outdoors and love what we do… appreciate you
@@flatsclasscharters That's why its important for outdoorsmen to show companies like that we appreciate them and their respect for our way of living !
@@flatsclasscharters that's good because I've heard Yeti is 2A unfriendly. (Still got the Hondo on your recommendation, couldn't be happier)
Well said 🇺🇸

you know the fishing suck's when CA'S building a shooting range
LMAO
That’s good.

And there’s no way in heck I can do that at my home….. lol
All that wood was a waste of money. All you really needed was the dirt pile
He wanted it to look better than just a pile of dirt
@Jeff Roberts cost wise...I wonder if railroad ties would have been cheaper...lumber is so costly in my area...then again fill dirt is 450$ lol...
Nicely done.
Watching the way you guys hold a pistol is physically hurting me lol. Good build though. Be safe
And after fishing, then shooting, we eat raw meat and drink good liquor….lol
