I sure miss the farm range. We used old fence posts/rails, dirt, and boards to build the backstop. Concrete blocks marked 25, 50, 75 and 100 yards. Targets included clay pigeons, cans, paper, steel, horse poop...
I went overboard building my range. Stopped counting around 50 plates. Small tiny ones up to several 12x20 torsos and lots in between. Have a range building video and a recent walk thru look at it. Starting bolt action this month, so I'll be doing some changes soon to keep the difficulty level up so I can learn and go compete soon!! Always like to see ranges, and some good tips here. I'll try a few of these ideas also!!
My friends wife is a realtor, we use those signs for targets, just refill with cardboard when needed, slap/staple targets on them, as long as you can stab them into the grounds they’re perfect
Those dimples, they’re useful for learning dance steps. 😎 BTW, nice timing. I’ll have my private shooting range finished, berms and all, in a few weeks.
Another fun target that you can get some solid practice is setting up balloons on the 6 plate stands. Set up different colors and have someone yell the color, have a flag to signal the color, or what we do is set up a color handkerchief with a heavy bolt or nut and have it thrown into the air by one of the targets. 5 seconds for each wrong target, but 10 seconds if he fails to shoot the appropriate target. And to mess with them, bring colors that you don't have for balloons. The sear panic they get is amazing. I seen some that freezes and study the balloons as if they were going to change colors
Glad I watched this, I have a texas star in a cart now but think I'll go with the spinner if my club will allow it. Just seems you could skip bullets right over the berm if you hit it while it's leaning back at 45 degrees or so.
for cheap and easy steel stands, put two bend in a piece of rebar. Drill a hole in two, 3ft pieces of 2x4 for feet, and hang the steel targets with chains. Cheap, easy, durable, and effective. ipsc targets or cardboard backers can be clamped to the stands as well using 2 alligator clamps.
Sorry, I was a US military sniper. All our military maps are metric and our sniper scopes were in MILs ( also metric), so I was kinda brain washed to speak that way. You can use yards on your range. Same thing. Thanks for watching, TR
What are your tires filled with. I have abojt 20 railroad ties double stacked. Its has worked real well. I have about 30 tires i need to do somthing with. Thanks.
I filled them with dirt. Sounds easy, but they have to be FILLED. That means scooping the dirt with the bobcat, but then (importantly) the dirt has to be worked down inside the tires. We found a cut broom stick worked better than a small shovel. Filling them keeps the tire from bouncing, hence sending bullets back at you. Thanks for watching, TR.
We have several videos on movement techniques, that you can find in our video archive. However, we do not share tactics on the open internet; only tips and techniques. Thanks for watching, TR
I think the trick to shooting the Texas star is to knock off the plates before it has time to spin unpredictably. Saw a professional shooter did that in competition.
Shepherd Hooks can be bought at Lowes or HOme Depot, and are designed for hanging planters outside. They already have a spiked base for driving into the group. They are harden and will easily take pistol rounds with no damage.
Great video! Really looking to buy a couple things. I found it a little odd that shooting targets USA didn’t really have any reviews at all on many of the popular products. Does this seem off to anyone? Making me second guess
They are made by Peltor and I love them. They recharge in the case off of 3 AAA batteries. They work better than most muffs. I only double up ear pro when it gets really loud… 12 students with ARs doing Zipper Drills in an indoor range will exceed any ear pro.
Your discount code currently only provides a 15% discount on the website. Either there was a communication error or the company has changed the offer. Unfortunate as I planned to buy some targets after seeing these
If your steel target is set up to move it is not going to ricochet! All these people saying buy ar500 steel are usually selling ar500 steel. If its angled or hanging from something that allows it to sway back it will absorb the round!
IPSC dont use Texas Star, it is to random 😀 I have ssen 1 plate take 2 other plates with it on the way dont. SO for Match - No BUT for Fun - Hell yeah! 😀
All I heard was bla, bla, bla. When you said AFTER CHURCH you got my attention. I pray Jesus is your Savior. Now you got my respect. USMC HERE. I subscribed.
Ahhhh I love shooting Karl’s steel with green tips. Good times
😂
"We shoot Every Sunday at 2:00 pm after Church" ❤️
Best line in the video.

Sounds like most of the military ranges in Africa that I trained on. Nothing wrong with homemade stuff.
Thanks for watching, TR
@@TacticalRifleman people laugh at me bc I use homemade targets mostly . Oh well
These are the videos that are truly helpful. How to train build and prepare. Thank you so much SGM and everyone.
Glad you like them!

OK adding a trip to Uncle Karl’s shooting range to my bucket list.
See you soon uncle Karl.

I have done the same. Hope I didn’t steal your wife’s signs 😬

Similar to my idea. I painted my plate rack different colors. Yell a color and hit the plate. And if by myself, can just run it like normal!
Thanks Karl. Sunday at your mountain must be a blast.
Always a great range day on the hill
Good stuff. You give training perspectives I've never considered. I appreciate ya!
Glad to help
Karl, thank you for your chanel and for always giving great tips and advice. God bless man.

Yep, you can. Best to only use on ranges where your range fan is hundreds of yards deep
Like always great vid , you guys have some of the best training hints. 💯🇺🇸

Great information on steel targets. I have some steel targets, that I can take to my out side public range. This gives me more options. 😊
You can make pop up targets with rat traps. I thought of it in high svhool and made some. Work awesome.
A well done fun/helpful video! Thanks very much for posting.
Glad it was helpful!
Nice selection of steel targets there buddy! 👍
Awesome info. Keep it up Karl!! 🤘
I miss having my own range at my house south of Clarksville. Best time and example of freedom ever 😊😂
Why did you move? I moved to TN about 6 years ago. Everyone is moving to the area I live in and want to move further East.
Great info as usual!
Karl thank you for the recommendations.
Glad to help
Did the livestreams move to another media source or are they done?
They moved to TR LiVE channel it’s still going strong 🇺🇸
@@kilonami cool, thank you
Great video, I’m in the process of building my own personal home range. Why are all the measurements referred to in meters and not yardage?
Sorry, I was a US military sniper. All our military maps are metric and our sniper scopes were in MILs ( also metric), so I was kinda brain washed to speak that way.
You can use yards on your range. Same thing.

@@TacticalRifleman thank you sir!
Thank you, Patriot!
Do you have a video on what kind of movements/manuevers that you had to do in combat? If not, I would be interested in seeing a video on that.
We have several videos on movement techniques, that you can find in our video archive.

We have a separate video on how to shoot a texas Star that you can find in our video archive. Thanks for watching, TR
You are full of it, DUDE!!
Could you do drills for shooting under stress. Solo or with other people
Appreciate you and your videos.
Both, but start single and timed
Nice range! Thanks for the share brother!!
Thanks for watching
Regarding your “shepherds hook” I’m curious what the stand looks like or how the hook is attached to the base? Is the base sold commercially? Thanks
Shepherd Hooks can be bought at Lowes or HOme Depot, and are designed for hanging planters outside. They already have a spiked base for driving into the group. They are harden and will easily take pistol rounds with no damage.
Nice information. THANKS!
Glad it was helpful!
Love it!
🤘🤘🤘
What’s the target called after the dueling tree?
Anyone know the name of the dual tree with the one plate that falls to the bottom and eventually falls out? ..pretty sweet
Great video! Really looking to buy a couple things. I found it a little odd that shooting targets USA didn’t really have any reviews at all on many of the popular products. Does this seem off to anyone? Making me second guess
They are a new company under pricing to beat the big companies but still keeping great quality
I am using the Texas Star on my air gun channel for city limits practice.🤠🇺🇸
What ear pro are you rocking now?? Are the buds good both indoors and out? Noise canceling?
Thanks Karl
👍

What’s the target called with one target that “dies”
falling tree target
What is the name of the dueling tree type target with the single plate that drops, and where are they sold?
Sorry, I don't know. A company left it on my Range because they didn't have the plate... I built the plate and now it works, but no name on it.
Shooting targets 7 has great steel targets at a fraction of these prices!
Wouldn't shooting on plates that have divots from rifle rounds duplicate return fire? Dodge the ricochet.
There’s no dodging shrapnel… it either hits you or it doesn’t.
I may be almost 70, but when I grow up - I want to be like Karl!!
Thank you
