Jan 16 1982 preformance of 'Under The Blade" very early show on TV.Shows how Metal TS really was before all that MTV crap. And this was from the Flo and Eddie Show...
They dressed like rough n tough drags to make fun of the glam metal bands popping out of the 80s. Even fucking Dee Snider will tell ya straight up that he thinks Poison sucks ass
My friends mom dated Dee Snider in high school and was his senior prom date. She broke up with him because she thought he was ugly and his band sucked. She definitely regretted that, like, a year later. lol.
This was shot at the time when I would be visiting a place called Hammerheads to see these guys about once a month. Probably the best live shows I've seen. Unbelievable energy, great songs (the later stuff suffered), and you'd get 3 full sets of music! First set was originals, second was a mix of originals and covers,a nd the last set was done without Dee (by then his voice was shot).
Saw them perform in a bowling alley in 1981. Was blown away with their live intensity. Snyder was unabashed and willing to let it all hang out. He is/was a rock and roll crusader.
Man this was when Twisted used to blow away everybody in the Tri-State club scene. Every where they played the place was packed and Rocking like Thunder. So many great memories seeing these guys in the clubs back in the day. I used to always make my way up to the front of the stage and rock out with These bad boys. Rock On Glenn Augustyn
I grew up listening to these guys. Their music helped me through some tough times in the 80's. I last saw the band perform live at the Star Theatre in Merriville Indiana in 1987 with Grim Reaper and Loudness as the opening acts. I also saw them on their Come Out and Play and Stay Hungry tours. Awesome.
Love the video, this is how I remember them. Front row, Hammerheads, late 81 early 82, 3 sets, incredible energy. Loved when Mendoza played his bass with the mic stand.
Hey tuberkong...I used to go to the Fore 'n Aft back in 68, 69, 70...they had a great house band then - the Gas House Kids, featuring a fantastic chick singer - Lynn Bocuminni, aka Mountain Dew. They recorded one album under the name Velvet Night. Great singer, great band, great bar.
For me it was at "Detroits" in Port Chester, NY where I used to see them every friday it seems . Sometimes with Harlequinn or White Tiger. Dee was insane. He used to tell us kids to go to the dance club down the road and annoy all the disco boys and gals
Me too! Hammerheads every Sat. nite, 3 sets, the third with Eddie and Jay Jay doing vocals (Dee's voice was baked after 2 sets). I still have my Hammerheads T-shirt form their 2000th performance-the band all wore white tuxedos with pink trim. What a trip to see this.
saw then at the rooftop skyroom in Buffalo on a cold autumn night - warm up act was Queensryche who was touring for their ep. Maybe 300 people - heavy as a ton of bricks - goes down in the books as one of my best ever gigs. SMF!!!
Awesome! This is the TS I remember from the early 80’s club days in North Jersey. Soap Factory, Mothers, Hole In The Wall, etc.. Saw them a million times. Seems like yesterday.
Still have the '82 Ruff Cuts EP & my SMF card. Sold out nites at the Marquee Club. The venue at bursting point. Sweat dripping from the ceiling. Oh, to be young again! Happy, happy days....
I remember when the Under The Blade record was a local demo that was being passed around in HS. It was so heavily traded that EVERYONE went out to see the band. If you ever thought you KNEW TSister and think they're a cheesy glam metal band THEN SEEK OUT THE RECORD "Under the Blade." Do NOT get the remixed version of this record. You MUST get the recording on the "Secret" Record label.
Dee is from N.Babylon L.I.,N.Y.,2 miles from my home.Used to se them in "Hamerhedz" (w. Islip),"Cheers"(N.Babylon),and the "Stone Henge"(N.Babylon) before it went toppless. They used to do a great song "I like rock n roll and disco really sucks" They would smash a pile of Donna Summer's records! great!
The stage they're playing on looks just like the one at February's - a rock nightclub they used to play in Elmont, LINY. TSister is amazing and always put on a show whether the crowd was 500 or 5.
Yep, that's the one. Mine is missing some pieces, but it's still intact. And I still have my shirt from their 2000th performance at Hammerheads, Feb 5 1982.
I watched this on an actual TV set that only got 13 channels. I think the Flo and Eddie show was some kind of local access PBS show at around 4pm? Stuff like this was somehow more special when I consumed it live, one time only. And Joel Martin.
I still have the 45 that TS put out on their own, with the pink label. It's backed with "I'll Never Grow Up, Now!" And my SMF card from 1982!! The best live band ever.
For me, it was Hammerheads on LI every Sat nite. And Dee would keep up this energy for two hour-long sets. The third set was comprised of whatever the band felt like playing, taking requests (they played Happy Birthday a few times), and JJ and Eddie singing lead. I even saw them do "Stand By Me" by Ben E. King. Awesome live band.
Twister sister = the ballsiest heaviest fucking band 'till thrash metal came along! Personally i wouldn't call TS glam but out of that scene they were the most kickass and real!
Great clip! I love seeing rare tv show clips so much more than the usual videos we all see a million times. Sister's performance fucking rocked! Very hard, very raw, very METAL.Awesome....Thanks for putting this up.
They sure may have a Glam image, but they were always a Heavy Metal band.
They dressed like rough n tough drags to make fun of the glam metal bands popping out of the 80s. Even fucking Dee Snider will tell ya straight up that he thinks Poison sucks ass
u exactly right!!!

Saw them perform in a bowling alley in 1981. Was blown away with their live intensity. Snyder was unabashed and willing to let it all hang out. He is/was a rock and roll crusader.

Used to go and see them at hammerheads on long Island NY, back in the late 70s early 80s. Man did they rock and pack the place
I was at Hammerheads in Islip any Sat night these guys were playing. Right off Sunrise Hwy in an old supermarket.
Still have the '82 Ruff Cuts EP & my SMF card. Sold out nites at the Marquee Club. The venue at bursting point. Sweat dripping from the ceiling. Oh, to be young again! Happy, happy days....
"you know you're not going home tonight" awesome!!! classic 80's anger!!!
my favorite sister mark mendoza always liked his bass playing
jay jay french plays fierce guitar.
Saw them 1975 Gemini in Yorktown NY I was 15 Tony on drums with old bass player never saw energy like that INCREDIBLE
