Any true born again believer will never stop believing in Christ. I’m a backslider into the sin of alcoholism but never stopped believing and praying. A Christian learns much about the sin of self righteousness once they realize they were or was self righteous. I’ll never judge anyone again after my ups and downs as a Christian over 40 years. Go’s have mercy on all of us.

I watch this video over and over again. I can't tell you how glad I am that God has had mercy on me, to give me a second chance. His acceptance of me means everything to me. Its the only real thing that matters. I was So Blind for so long! But now I see. He opened my eyes! Thank you so much for letting me know that he will forgive me and give me a second chance. Even though I hear you, I have to admit I fear maybe be won't forgive me because I denied his existance. But I sure hope he does and I pray everyday that he will have mercy on my soul. i love him and am so grateful that Jesus suffered and shed his blood to pay for my sins and everyone else's in the whole world. I hope I am still included. I try to do works, not to pay for my sin, I cannot pay for that, Jesus alone did that, but to be a better child of God. To obey him better, to be a pleasing as a child of God, a pleasing servant. More now than when I believed in the past. I feel I owe him plus I know better now of what he wants from me. " I hope you have gotten past this - this is doubt from the pit of hell. But thats one problem with a theology where you can backslide and/or lose your salvation. If you don't have eternal security, you always have to wonder if you've done something to lose it. Whats par? How much can you backslide before you lose your salvation. Can you have 1 drink? 5 drinks? When is it enough to "backslide"? Kathy: NO WORKS! He doesn't need your works. Are you in the body of Christ... yes or no? Believe that his death, burial and resurrection is ENOUGH to cleanse you of your sins and give you eternal security. Thats it. Then you are in the Body of Christ for all time and you are redeemed Nothing else you can do can make him love you more, or make you "more saved" or separate you from Him.
Hey, it's been a year since you posted this, was wondering if you could give an update on your relationship with god. Fellow backslider here, a personal testimony would really give me some hope.

From personal experience backsliding doesn't necessarily mean the person is a non believer. Some are believers trapped in repetitive sin and because they continue to sin they give up.

Thanks for your message, I really needed to hear that. I've strayed from the church and my congregation for over two years. I feel back into my old ways of drinking and other horrible things. But now I just feel so empty inside and I can feel the Lord tugging at my heart but I so afraid to let the Lord down again because I don't trust myself. But after watching this video I remembered that the Lord has my back and that I just need to pray for myself and put my shortcomings in his hands.

2 Cor 7:10. Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation. If we are truly sorry and turn, then that's the heart God is looking for. Saying sorry I stole 20 from your purse mom, I ....forgive you. Next day- sorry I stole 20 mom...I forgive you, repeat for 10 yrs? How is that true repentance? So our forgiveness would be pointless right? We cant forgive a wicked heart. He knows he's gonna steal again and again.
That's true in some case but sometimes people have besetting sins that they are trying to stop but have trouble with. When you form a habit your brain creates pathways that make certain actions almost instinctual so those can be difficult to break.

Thank you so much for clarifying that. I was also a stout believer for years, then things happened in my life to where I got to a point that I wondered if everything I always believed in was a made up story, a lie. I quit reading the bible, quit going to church, didn't have christians around, not on purpose just didn't. After a few years I no longer believed in anything. It stayed that way for years. I just recently returned to my faith in Jesus with a zeal during this pandemic. I worry also that God won't take me back because of Hebrew 6:4. I also know the prodigal son story and have hope that God will forgive me for giving up on Him and Jesus. I am repentant of the way I turned my back on God and Jesus almost daily. I pray he will have mercy on me and forgive me. I also had a daughter during that time of unbelief and so did not raise her to believe in Christ but am talking to her now, gave her a bible, hope and pray she reads it but she doesn't seem interested. I have an enormous amount of guilt for not leading her to Christ when she was young so I feel I have her lack of salvation on my soul as well. I sure hope you are right about God forgiving us and having mercy on those that once were fatihful but then no longer believed for a long time, but then are accepted back into His family when by some miracle the lightbulb came back on and the truth can be seen.
I believe you can have full assurance that God has forgiven you and accepted you back into His kingdom. If you had truly become apostate according to Hebrews 6:4-5 then the Holy Spirit would have left your life entirely and you would never have felt His conviction in your heart again. The true apostate never feels Christ’s drawing again and never experiences any desire to return to belief - they are completely separated from God. The fact that you have felt the Holy Spirit’s conviction and that Christ has drawn you back into faith demonstrates that God never abandoned you during your time of backsliding.

A FEW WEEKS AGO I STARTED FEELING ANXIOUS, I FEEL THAT FEELING LIKE AS IF THERE IS A TRAIN COMING AND IF IM NOT ON IT IL B IN HELL FOREVER, I ASK MYSELF WHAT R U WAITING FOR ? There is no feeling in the world worse than a believer who is full of anxiety over their salvation.
As one who frequently visits this state, I can tell you that the only way out of it is to confess your sins to God and turn from them. Often times we justify our sin because of some offense committed towards us and harden our hearts to the conviction of the Spirit. He will not let us live in peace while we are living in sin.
You will feel an immediate sense of relief when you finally decide to forsake those things which are grieving the Spirit of God.
If we confess, He is faithful and just to forgive.
Wow I feel sorry for you. I fell into judgement I started sliding 5 years ago I would repent on a sin my sin was grumbling. About one month ago God put me under judgement then about two weeks ago I told my wife a small harmless lie, no lie is small they are all sin However I am strictly honest when it comes to confessing sin so I told Him in prayer that I had told a lie. He told me I have no chance left and I am going to hell. Since then I have been seeking forgiveness, I think I understand that it takes a long time and it's the hardest thing ever to do.. If I had to wait 17 years I will be 99 years old I seek what others have done to be set free so I am going to start and really al out to win. There seems to be some confusion about backsliding. I’ve experienced this from people in a church who label those who leave their church as backsliding. Backsliding is when someone loses their faith and rejects Christ. Anyone who does that cannot come back because it means putting Christ back on the cross. However, in the case of the prodigal son I’m not so sure he had backslidden. Yes he went away and spent his inheritance but did he reject the love of his father? It’s not certain. I somehow don’t think so. By extension can we rightly say that anyone who leaves a church and commits sin has backslidden? No! I think it’s about putting off the new nature and putting on the old nature once again. If anyone does that then they no longer would want anything to do with God! Zero, zilch absolutely nothing. Their rejection is complete and final. The confusion also lies in associating a specific church with salvation rather than the body of Christ which goes across many church denominations. People are saved through many different Christian churches. Backsliding then is about rejecting the Lord and going back to the world. I think anyone who truly does that would never attempt to return. I have encountered some of these people and nothing I have said to them had convinced them of their wrong doing.

But brother, according to your way of viewing this, the problem remain. Because, what about if you are on a evangelism and you've meet someone that had been inside a church group and even participated actively and get baptized but now is living as one with the word, putting the old nature again like you've said, and after you preach to that person, according to what James 5.19 instruts, that person say: "You konw...I repent what I did. I want to be restored and go back to Jesus". Would you say thar according to Hebrews 6.4-6 and Hebrews 10.26-27 he canmot do that anymore?
Whar I trully believe is that a christian can fall into sin and even in grivious sin because we still fight against the flesh. But I do believe also that many of those called backsliders should not be called that way because (like Ray Comfort says) they had never slid forward first.
What I mean is this: I believe that many of those who had walk away from church (even leaders) had never really understand the gospel, and by that I mean their standards as sinners and their need for a Savior and who Jesus is in a way that they would never Walter away from him to be with their sin. They probrably had believed in a diluted gospel and that"s why they walk away.
So they need to hear the Gospel and be called for repentance as anyone else. And I do believe that many of them will be really surprise that their understanding of the Gospel were really a misunderstanding which lead them to not deal with the problem of sin and flesh according to the Scriptures.
@@TiagoMuhlethaler But how can you know if that person has truly gone back to their old ways? You don't know. No one can really know this except our Lord. What Im saying is that most churches view their church as being the only true church and that all other churches are false churches. But this is not scriptural. All churches are doctrinal churches first, in that they all have a set of core briefs and codes that they adhere to and require their followers to follow. However, the one true church is the body of Christ who are born-again believers. This one true church resides across many different doctrinal churches. For example, born-again people can be members of the catholic doctrine, protestant doctrines, evangelical, etc., This is one of the areas where people are confused about the body of christ. The one true church is the body of christ and who are born-again believers. It is not a specific doctrinal church. Do you follow me?
Let me show you another example. I was once a member of an evangelical church called Revival Centres International. I left that 'Church' many years ago because I felt they were out of order with the Lords teachings. I was not on my own on leaving at that time. A particular incident arose and it caused a significant number of others to leave as well - I would say around 50% of their members across the world left for the same reason as I did. Once we all left we were branded as 'backsliders'.
But since leaving I have never faltered in my faith or my beliefs or my prayer life. My love for the Lord has not diminished and I seek His forgiveness for my sins every day. I witness to as many people as I can and I pray for those who also seek Him and for others who need His help and healing. I acknowledge I am not perfect and that I am a sinner and in need of His grace and mercy. It pains me no end to see close friends and family who reject Him and refuse to accept His offer of salvation. I never cease in my prayers for those who are not saved and who need to be. I never miss a chance to witness to people whenever the opportunity arises regardless if they think me a fool. I have lost many friends and acquaintances over the years who, when they discover that I am 'religious', refuse to have anything more to do with me. But I am more concerned for them that for how they think of me. This has just taught me to be more careful about how I approach them in order to encourage further dialogue but it will never stop me from witnessing to them.

But to put that in a clear and pratical way let's put it that way: a person that I know well, was a beliver in Jesus Christ and left this faith and went back to his/her pre conversion ways embrancing a sunfull lifestyle (and for the sake of the exemple let's say even worse than before) and walk as one with the world. One they you get the oportunity to share the Word with this person according to James 5.19 and he/she repent and show fruits of repentance and restore his relationship with his faith in Christ. Would you say to him that according to Hebrews 6.4-6 and Hebrews 10.26-27 that NO! He or She cannot went back to Jesus repented for the backsliding?
Hello....have got a concern,,am a youth whom received Christ in high school but never walked on the ways of righteousness by being under certain sin like masturbating,, pornography and fornication untill I was grieved to the extend of seeking the face of Christ and indeed he answered my prayers,,but through the way I fallen back to masturbating and pornography and so it is more worse than before,,,and am worried am lost , when I read the books of Paul in Hebrews 6:1-4,,10:26,,2nd peter 2:21-22....and Paul says that for that man is impossible for him to come back to repentance, peter says a dog return s back to it's vomit,,,,so my question is am I out of probation? Because I have got that feeling anytime I think of praying and after repenting,,,,the feeling is even discouraging me from maintaining righteousness of God...need a clarification from the texts above tooo.

What sin are you holding onto?
The days will come when these message will be scarce and people will become confuse and lose the faith in jesus when times get darker, and then they wont get the assurance of these messages....because it may not be available in this form....
Backsliding doesnt mean u stop believing..
I have been saved in the past and have stayed a believer but I have backslid so will I sill go to the judgement seat of christ with other believers and just lose my reward or will I go to hell because of my backslid thank you...joseph
Dear brother, you cannot lose your salvation, you are saved by grace and not by works. Many of us have been there and that's a place where we lose His precious mercies, His blessings and His best rewards that we could have had. Although it looks greener away from God, it's just Satan talking. Be wise and invest in eternity and earn compounded interest!!😊
Jesus, His Name means Savior, because, "He saves His people from their sins" (Matt 1:21). I too have recently come under this struggle. Will he reject me? "All who come to Me, I will in no way cast out" (John 6:37). Have I left Him, or slipped away from His grasp? "

"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
He said it Himself, friend. And indeed, the Risen King Jesus is gentle, and humble, in heart.

Can someone explain my situation? I will have days of going without sexual sin and I feel repented and I’m praying… I read .. I worship.. then all of a sudden I willfully mess up again.. I don’t get it.. it makes me feel insane
Praying for you, this is so very frustrating for so many. Sounds like addiction, addiction makes people behave this way. Humble yourself to God and ask for him to guide you into being free. There are ways to be free of this stronghold in your life. Jesus is the one who will free you, however the Lord does this in different ways. Sometimes it is immediate through repentance and prayer and other times He allows us to wrestle with something. There will always be a lesson, the first thing you need to do is trust the Lord and lean not unto your own understanding. It may mean seeking out Godly counsel and prayer. Studying the 12 steps. The twelve steps get people free from more than just alcohol and drugs.
Step #1 is to admit we are powerless over it. I believe sometimes the struggle is for our own spiritual growth. Being in chains and a slave to something will seriously open one's eyes to the need of a savior. One of the things I believe the devil uses to keep us defeated is shame and guilt, when you confess to God, release the guilt and shame as quickly as you can, do not give the devil a chance with these, he is the accuser of the brethren.
I have no doubt that in Jesus you will find freedom.

Actually I learn a lot from bible and it changed my life and I feel the holy spirit but there's a time I read the Hebrew 6 4 talking about the believer who go back from old sin cannot be forgiven that's why I'm struggling and back again from old sin and now I think I lost my salvation 😔

Believe "WHAT" in the Lord Jesus? That he existed? That he was the Messiah? Whats the context of this? Its after Paul was at the conference in Jerusalem in 50ad. He presented to the eleven "Paul's Gospel" that was delivered to him by the Lord Jesus Christ. So when he is asked this by the jailer, what does he tell him and his household? "The messiah has come"? NO NO NO. He tells them of 1 Cor 15: 3-4: "For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; 4 and that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures". THIS is the Gospel!

That’s why certain places Jesus stopped doing miracles because they wouldn’t believe and if Jesus can’t do it then IT IS IMPOSSIBLE FOR THEM TO COME TO REPENTANCE.

All sins are paid for and forgiven. Some people need to realize this is a pentecostal view and not necc. biblical truth.
You can't backslide and lose your salvation. Be set free from that bondage!

.there is no such thing as a backslider in the Bible. That is just religion. You are so lost. Repent means to change your mind and believe in the cross. Salvation is about believing Gods plan of the cross worked. Salvation is not about how we live it's about how long our advocate lives ,Jesus which is forever. Your teaching a works based salvation. Mixing moses and Jesus. Biblical Adultry. Mixing Covenants. It's Jesus plus nothing. We were not at the cross none of us were. We look at it , we believe it worked or we don't. You need to get saved .

Demons know God's plan on the cross worked. They witnessed it happen but they're still deceived and now they're doing everything they can to get people to not believe it worked.

And what does Ephesians 2:10 say?
"works" in verse 9 is works based salvation.
Holy Spirit directs "works" in verse 10.
That's the works you need to do otherwise you're not a child of God.
