Saw the title and knew exactly which torch was coming. Love it in my scrub tier commander decks (sheoldred likes attacking with it), excited to see what it looks like deployed in a more ruthless fashion. Got my snacks and my comfy chair, thanks for the show!
Ugh, Game 1 flood then G2 extra mega screw, amplified by Stifle. Not one of my prouder showings. I may submit a Stifle Tribal deck to play as revenge on the guy that hates Stifle tearing me apart with Stifle.
The most recent Eternal Glory sent me here - Stifle looked great! But it makes sense that a) it's not a great card and b) you need some additional beneficial interaction (Uro, Dreadnaught, etc.) to justify it beyond "it complements my Wastelands and Dazes."

I enjoy these bant decks you find yourself playing a lot, but the bant deck that makes you concede faster than a vintage opponent on mtgo, really catch my attention hah
As a br reanimater player i was litterally about to comment asking for you reasoning behind not using containment priest.. that card is unbeatable. Then you grabbed it and put it in.
Typing this before seeing the rest of the video. Round 2 Game 1 against the Hot Bant SFM deck is the kind of Magic I live for: SFM, Snappy, Bolt, Uro, Noble Heirarch, Plow, Wasteland. Really wish there was a Legacy scene in my city.
I played Bant snow control the other night, and I took 1st place, 4-0/8-0. Deck was sick! Grixis delver Infect Grixis control Infect again No problems at all, but grixis control was the toughest MU.

I'm here to engage with you being almost a weenie by forgetting Priest in the Reanimator and Show and Tell game. This deck felt off with Stifle and Torch, just because I'm used to the other kind of control lists I've seen. It's a really cool deck, don't get me wrong, it just didn't feel as cohesive as it could have.
Your first match vs ninjas is exactly why I think foundry is legit terrible in that deck. Sure it synergies with the things that enable the ninjas, but spinning your ornithopter into a 4/4 destroys your ability to get online with yuriko and crew. Better to be all in on ninjas then trying to turn 0/2s into 4/4s. I have multiple 5-0s without foundry to support my claim. 🙃
Torch is cool tech, but I’m not sure how good it is. I feel like taking the initiative is much less valuable when you don’t also get a big creature to defend it with. Most of the time Kaldra/Batterskull felt better, although I think it’s good with a nemesis already on board.
Maybe I’m just too dedicated to jank and can’t see the efficiency. Can you run me through your decision making process on when you would include mystic sanctuary in a list like this? From my point of view it seems like an autoinclude with the daze, fetches and brainstorms.
I think it's the opposite. I respect the hell out of a responsible use of Stifle. Can be a little annoying, can be strategic vs. Storm or Thassa's Oracle, or just sneak Uro in early 1 out of 10 matches. All without committing you to being over-reactive if you play 4.
Like TransViv said, they’re specifically for the Reanimator and Oops All Spells archetypes, two of the most powerful and explosive combo decks in the format. They also get splash damage against some Uro variants and ANT

If I have a card like Stoneforge Mystic in my deck, I need any 2 lands to cast it on turn 2.

I keep seeing Surgical Extractions dropped into sideboards and (seemingly) never used. It's like they are a placeholder for better sideboard cards.
They’re for specific problems and you don’t always see every deck in 5 rounds.
