I just broke out of generational poverty and boy oh boy it hasn't been easy. Being the last child I have to observe all the jealousy from my other brothers with not even one of them congratulating me. It's hard when the toxicity in your family becomes clear as daylight.

Dated many beautiful girls after that lol. Then life happened and I gained 60lbs back in 5yrs. Then lost 50 in 6 months. Then i wrecked my back and needed surgery. That led to gaining almost 100lbs and I ballooned up to 276lbs. I first worked on strengthening my back and core to gain enough strength to perform moderate exercises. I'm down to 235 and want to lose another 50 atleast lol. Life is what it is you know, and we have to do our best to keep fighting both literally and figuratively. Stay strong brother you got this!!

I don't even know how it's possible and I was stuck in negative thinking for so long thinking how I was even born/cursed into/with a dysfunctional family. In my 30s I realize now that it is what it is, existence is a harsh reality on its own and it's a miracle humans even made it as far as we have considering everything in this realm seeks to devour you.

@@fathom2732 I understand where you’re coming from. My family struggles with addiction, then I married into a family of addiction. My then wife and her family were terribly rotten people who tried desperately to drag me down when I tried to better myself. The things they did were purely evil. I endured their rottenness for over 20 years, but I stayed strong in my faith in Christ. I still have struggles to this day, but I will never give up. You can’t make your situation better if you don’t try, and that may mean every single day for s long time. Maybe your entire life. You can be the one to break this generational strong hold. Believe me, it isn’t easy. I think the most important thing I did was to separate myself from them. I forgave them then stayed far away. Best wishes to you! People like us can use this wisdom to really make a difference helping teens and young adolescences overcome their problems because we are essentially them from the future. I do my best to help but it is a whole different story understanding that some people just won't make it and it's up to them to break out. Yes!, there’s so much that we can do with our own strength, but we have a limit when demons are taking control of families for generations. That’s why Jesus came to destroy the works of the devil to set the captives free and to open the heavens to His children. I seen many people been delivered from demons and Jesus breaking generational curses and peoples lives been changed and finally been happy and at peace.

Something we also may take for granted is being able to listen to great people like yourself repeating positive messages to stay on the right path. If all you hear and see is negativity, it's very hard to keep that inner fire burning against the darkness. But listening to podcasts and interviews from people on the right path, you can become a part of a community that does have their mind straight and it can help you to keep making the right decisions

Good stuff PAT. "Be transformed by the renewing of your mind and not conformed...."
This battle you speak of - I believe - begins in our own thought processes - before the battle begins.
As you mentioned, our own observation of the problem and, the desire to free ourselves, starts the process.
Don't want to discourage anyone by talking about how long a battle that may be - but I'll say very recently I have felt a release from a destructive thought process (we'll see if it sticks), and I feel a great weight has been lifted off my shoulders.
Not Euphoric or excited - relieved, thankful, peaceful, quieter in the mind.
Makes me have confidence that it is a genuine milestone.
    Thanks again, Brother Pat

As much as I love my mum and dad, I just can't contribute to it. I will have to break free for my own sake and the sake of the generations that are to come from and after me. Incompatibility of values with my parents might hurt my relationship with them but it's a sacrifice I'm willing to make for I'm sure once they see the end result they will understand what it was all for.

apart from Christ predicting "brother against brother, child against parent", walking with Him really involves a break from old friends, old family, old town, and yes, from your old self. if you were ok & doing ok in the earthly day-to-day sense (plenty of non-christians are like that...), family is not going to understand. and of course, going with Christ involves breaking free from one's old sinful self. hard enough to break away from the old sinful self as is, without people in your life trying to reel you back in. and if family's thing is alcohol, drugs, or something else really dysfunctional, they are REALLY not going to understand.

Maimonides writes in his chapter on repentance, that in order to do full repentance, after confessing the sin, you need to change you environment. change how you dress, and move to another city. He probably his hitting on the point you are making about the environment that got you sinning in the first place.

I realized that I have been battling my own family gen curse since I was a young adult. Alcoholism. As Patrick said, your folks and environment have a lot to do with it, even friends, who won't know how this affects you. Be decisive and confident, remove yourself from the environment, contexts and people that will keep you in that dark place. It will be difficult and lonely, but it's the path meant for you and the victory will be worth it.

at 64 i'm not above trying to 'still' remove generational curses...things turned south for my family when, at age 39, my maternal grandmother died. she left 11 children, 11 months to early 20's. five of the children were age five and under ( a set of twins, 11 months old ). my grandfather was 49 at the time and I'm sure, had no time to grieve or mourn his loss. He was the less cultured of the two, mostly valued his sons and girls could only get in trouble. half of the children he raised had no children at all because children were a burden, were not to speak unless spoken to, never to question adults...maybe you get the idea. Yikes, there's too much to tell, but I thank you for this video:D

Doing things beyond what people envisioned for you in life is probably going to make them uncomfortable. They might even lack a fundamental understanding of the opportunity you're pursuing. In cases like that, keep focusing on the "why" and always look out for alternative ways to reach your goals.

I’ve been on this mission since I was consciously aware (7 or 8). I started by questioning why my mother spent hundreds of dollars on drugs per week, but she couldn’t even buy me a pair of shoes. I questioned why all my friends parents worked all day, while my mother sat at home all day on welfare. I questioned why my mother would tell me to kill myslef, and that I’m a waste of oxygen, but my friends parents would cook them dinner and asked them how their day was.
I analysed my whole life, and rather than dwell on what I didn’t have, I created a future in my mind where people loved me, cared for me, and I had everything I always wanted. I saw myself doing and achieving something great. My present was so painful, I put all my focus into my future self, Into my sport and into where I wanted to be.
I’m yet to do something great , but I’m now 27, I’m educated, I work a full time job, i have a beautiful girlfriend, I go to therapy so when my trauma comes up I can deal with it and every day I get closer to my true self! Never fucking give up!

    Lessons I learned:
If you want to change a "curse", don't do the opposite extreme, it will get you right back to where you started.
For example: My parents are drinking, and you say "I hate alcohol, I will never ever put alcohol in my mouth". This will mostly sure, get you into drinking because of the weight you need to carry. Instead say something like this: "It's ok to drink once in a while, but don't get overboard with it". This will take the pressure from you, pressure which might get you into drinking in the end.
If your parents say "money doesn't matter" , don't go into "Money is everything that matters, nothing else is important"... don't replace an extreme with the other extreme because they are different faces of the same coin. Instead, find a middle ground: "It would be nice to have money, but that won't suffice". Thank you for reading my 2 cents

Some generational curses are spiritual and you’ll need someone with superior authority to break that curse because the unclean spirits are way stronger than you given the stronghold they have.

Drugs and alcohol free since birth...however....I come from a line of addicts who blundered in life...I may not have been addicted to drugs or alcohol but I do have that addiction gene towards different outlets.
But I feel curses are beyond genetics
It's truly something that cannot be explained just known.

The generational curses in my family:
    1. Narcissistic Personality Disorder (my dad, his dad and my siblings)
    2. Compulsive gambling (my dad & older brother)
    3. Alcoholism (my dad's father & younger brother)
With all this being said I've refused to get married or have children it being that there's generations of dysfunction within my genealogical tree.

Mat 12:43 When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest, and findeth none.
Mat 12:44 Then he saith, I will return into my house from whence I came out; and when he is come, he findeth it empty, swept, and garnished.
Mat 12:45 Then goeth he, and taketh with himself seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter in and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first. Even so shall it be also unto this wicked generation.

I was brought up around alcohol and abuse and fights all my life. And of course jealousy. And I feel someone in my generation is sabotaging my happiness because there life didn't turn out great. Or successful. Every partner was toxic. Every friend is either an addict or whatever. When I want to get out of this environment it's like it keeps gravitating back to my life. I have high hopes I move away from these jealous people who use my downfalls as a way to feel better.

Patrick, I can still seeing your videos even after I block to you, one thing I am going to tell you generational curses have to do with witchcraft that’s the type of generational curse I am protecting myself from just how the Bible says no weapon formed against me shall prosper or you’d be surprised what goes on in the spiritual world notches with your finances and other generational curses of alcohol and everything else that’s what I meant by generational curses but I am trying to break all of them because they’re ruining my life and they’re taking my loved ones slowly. Pray up!

I've been trying to break through from generational poverty and depression. 50 years old now and see no way out for me. I'm the youngest of seven kids.we all lived in extreme poverty. A couple of us have made it out because they were highly intelligent and as adults met a couple people along the way to mentor them and invest in them. The rest of us are just stuck.
