After watching all these Armada videos I've finally jumped in and bought a core set plus an ISD, Home One, and first wave squadrons. My son can't wait for me to learn the system so I can teach him.
TheFatalT thefatalt You won't be disappointed, it's my favorite game, there are a lot of rules though and games can be long. If playing with your son and you want to speed things up and make it easier to play go with lists of ships with few upgrades and limited to no squadrons. It makes for a fun home game and a good way to get started learning.
It's a fantastic game. Hurts a tiny bit buying both factions, but my room mate and I love it, and since we both collect we lend out ships for a nice Correlian Campaign with friends fairly often.
Alphapara Buying both factions does hurt but then you miss out on some key upgrades that may come in one pack but works great for both factions. We need to just face it that FFG has found the keys to our wallets.
Any time you bring up the MC30 I remember the time when my buddy almost 100 points on his to give it as many extra dice as he could. He didn't even get a shot off because he parked the damn thing in front of my ISD with concentrate fire and spinal armaments. Killed it in one shot. He was livid, which made things all the more entertaining
Not necessarily a bad idea to park your MC30 in front of the ISD if you play Rieekan. Oh yes it will die but it might also take out a large ship in the process. Keep it cheap though. APT+Ordonance expert.
I'd like to see "hidden upgrades" at some point, where you can play certain upgrades face-down and reveal them when it's time to do so. (This could also lower your starting point value to let you go first?) It'd be a cool addition, at least for the Rebel side, as I can't imagine all their ships were standardized enough for an Imperial ship to know what they were getting into.
Thanks for the video which is very nice but I beg to differ I would put the Nebulon-B without Yavaris way down the list. Yes a Neb with Yavaris is amazing but outside this title, I think it is the worst ship of the Rebel. Yes Salvation allows to deal a massive amount of damage but it typically fire at long range and is therefore susceptible to Evade. This makes it good against some specific targets and next to useless against others. The lack of a blue dice in its frontal arc at long-range and the inability to field Gunnery Team for what is meant to be a shooty ship is a big downer for me. Move at close - medium range ? With a 1 shield on the side, the odds that you get flanked and killed before it happens are high. I simply think that the points you pay to utlise the Neb as a trailer is too much. Take a CR-90b+SW-7 and save 7pt for a ship that will do a better job at mercy killing your opponent's ship with better survivability thanks to speed 4. One ship I would raise much further the list is the MC-80 (a.k.a the cucumber). Yes it shoots less than the Liberty but it does not die. And a ship that does not die means that you are denying points to your opponent. That is a big plus in my opinion. Ultimately, what I would appreciate is for FFG to issue new titles for some of their wave 1-2 ships. After all, the original titles were issued when the game was still in its infancy and lacked balance especially compared to the titles that came after. Hence, with the exception of the Demolisher and the Yavaris I do not see them played that often. It would be an easy way to open up the game. Great video though… and yes it is bound to stir discussions but that is good.
It would be great if they dropped a named squadron/Title pack for each side with new titles/Named Squadrons. It would help with more options on older ships/squadrons.
The mc80 home one I really like to use as my capital ship since its tanky really nice side arks for ackbar and its speed I dont mind being slow since its a large ship
I've flown the Nebulon B's in a ackbar list, keeping them ahead of the MC80. It worked extremely well because of the absurdly wide side-arcs. I pummeled my opponents fleet at range, and once his fleet closed into medium range, I increased speed to 3 and raced out of the front arc on his ISD and VSD.
Custom card idea, Hammerhead title: Lightmaker, Upon ramming an enemy ship, You do not take any damage and may push the rammed ship along your path so that you go to your original destination with the rammed ship touching your front. 8 points. (Rogue One Hammerhead scene MUST.....BE.....RECREATED!!!!!!!! P.S. How do I do a Lehny face?)
For rebels I think I'll start buying the Home One (for iconic), an extra CR-90, Rebel transport, Rebel fighter 1 and Hammerhead corvette expantion, what do you think of these fleet? would I be able to build a solid list? or should I replace something? thanks a lot (I have a core set btw) looking forward for the Imperial version.
Crabbok I would buy an mc 30, mc 80, mc 80 liberty, nebulon b x2, cr 90 x2, fighter expansion, and the hammerhead corvettes, is this a good mix and if not then what would you recommend?
No far from it. Positioning is very important. You do not "face stomp" an ISD with a flight of CR-90 otherwise you die. It is a far subbtle game.... which makes it a great game.
Most high skilled rebels I go up against run at least 2-4 YT-2400 and maybe a Jan. Focusing on CR-90s and Mc-80s are going to give you diminishing returns against an ISD. I've seen CR-90's get one shotted by an ISD too many times to build a heavy hitting fleets around them.

After Imperial Assault, they have my credit card on file...
XD My command ship is a Pelta-class frigate! LOL!

Jack of all trades, a master of none, often times better than a master of one!
Plus you can take flight controllers.
at one point in my armada career I will fly a fleet entirely composed of nebulon b’s
all light cruisers vs all Nebulon bs would be a fun battle
They should make the rebel corellian gunship.

agree. it should come with the instruction "front towards enemy"

I would like that very much. I can't see why this option isn't available.
That battle was lit! That was sooooo epic!
I'm surprised it's top9, not top18 - it would be interesting if standings changed when you consider each version separately :)
Paweł Szymkowiak totally agree
I was thinking the same thing!
I like putting XI7s on my MC30s, since it's great at shutting down redirects. Allows your accuracy to target other things.
I would rank Hammerhead(s) higher. Individually they are not great but in groups of at least 4 they can be quite effective.

It can absolutely work... but I wouldn't use Ackbar though... maybe Leia.
If I want to use Ackbar (with that fleet) should I add a MC30 or an Assault Frigate Mark II? what other Commander would be good? Rieekan perhaps?
Crabbok I would buy an mc 30, mc 80, mc 80 liberty, nebulon b x2, cr 90 x2, fighter expansion, and the hammerhead corvettes, is this a good mix and if not then what would you recommend?
Could you please reply to me, if really like to know where the MC75 would be in this list
#1
Nice break down...thanks
External rack on mc30 torpedo frigate? 5 black and 2 blue out the side.
Mr Crabbok. Would you make a new ranking video after the Starhawk gets released?
Probably not right away but eventually yes.
How about the Profundity??
Im thinking of buying it
It is amazing!
I use the pelta as a carrier with rapid launch bays
You have to update this list
For ackbar I run 2 assault frigates a Gr75 and a Cr90
Do you have something like this for X-Wing if not, it would be cool!
Hope I'm not blasphemy but would you ever rank mels miniatures ships also !
MC85 star cruiser I hope its good
AFM or MC30 is #1 for me.
great video!
I personally dont like the hammerhead it lacks the firepower needed for my play style
So for Rebels basically all you run is the GR-75's, Frigates, MC-80's, Mc-30's, Frigates and CR-90's and pretty much face stomp players.
