    I totally agree with you. The main advantage to the iPhone is it’s usually in your pocket in any situation. The thing that really annoys me about my full frame and crop Sony system is it is slower and somewhat harder to file transfer and edit, whereas you can literally one click on your phone and make things happen. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve had my wife beg me to transfer to her photos on my camera immediately. People are impatient these days.

    The big difference here is the quality glass you can put on a full size camera and the eye behind it. The iphone falls apart when you want anything resembling artistic or cinematic, or are shooting in low light. Portrait mode fails consistently at detailed objects and even portraits sometimes. I'm sure the iphone will continue to be improved, but a full frame camera with nice glass is still better if you want full artistic control of a video or photograph. The question is, will you have your full sized camera with you when opportunities for nice shots arise?

    • @dennisvesz7760

      True, also depends on use case. iPhone is good for most people. But for photographers who do studio work like portraits or products using flash, astrophotography, full frame ist the way to go

    Great video and comparison. I've been using my cell phone for lots of landscape photos and love the ai editing. My friend and his wife went on a trip to cantaloupe canyon and his wife's iPhone photos looks say better than his nikon ff plus pro lens. For portraits, I still like using the ff mirrorless camera but it's not always about bokeh and more about story telling, which I'm trying hard to do these days. Keep up the great video

    I think the better comparison would be the iPhone 14 Pro to something like a Fuji x100v or some other smaller aps-c body with a wide angle prime strictly due to the practical size differences. I don't want to carry my larger body with me all the time, but if the iPhone is close enough to something like the x100v, that would be pretty gnarly to not have to worry about slinging a camera around for street photography.

    • @thiccdddad75
      @thiccdddad75 Год назад +2

      I sold my x100v and ordered the 14 pro. As compact as it was, the x100v just isn’t nearly as convenient as my iPhone and it has spent 80% of the year on my shelf or in my bag in my car whereas my iPhone is literally always in my pocket. It’s a cliche but it’s true the best camera is the one you have with you

    IMO dedicated cameras shine when using them with wide aperture lenses like 1.4 or 1.2 for portraits or low light photography, or telephoto lenses for portraits (70-200) or wildlife (100-400 or 150-600). Phone cameras can't match dedicated cameras in these regard.

      There are several situations where a iPhone just can't handle the situation. If you try to record a sunset scene with a iPhone it will try to compensate showing the sunset like a 12hs sun washing all colors. A camera with a a proper professional can get the shades, the blacks and reds that completely change the scene. Iphone is nice and do amazing job for a lot of scenarios but in a professional level it lacks in so many areas that is laughable to even consider it's use. Not complaining about iphone, great quality for everyday use, RUclips and so.

    • @francis2339

      @@maisummarceneiroumdemuitos8037 so for RUclips «cinematic» videos an iPhone is perfect and it’s a waste to get a dslr?

    • @maisummarceneiroumdemuitos8037
      @maisummarceneiroumdemuitos8037 2 года назад +1

      @@francis2339 There is no simple answer to that. You will not see a professional production, dozens of people involved in a shooting using a iPhone to have a risk of ruining that and have to remake incurring in costs superior of 10 iPhones just in personal expenses. it's just like take a passenger car to a F1 race. If the person are a RUclips guy alone making content a iPhone is fine. For some contentes iphone just can't deliver the quality expected. Example, se the 'flying Dutchman' RUclips channel focused on nature, it's just impossible to get that 4k results with that colors on a iPhone. I am not complaining about iphone, it's a amazing product for it's intended use and the go choice for 90% of RUclips channels that the content is more important than image excellence. it's impossible to shoot 8hs straight with a phone, battery, ergonomics, lack of attachments, sound etc.

  • @seanhe4606
    @seanhe4606 2 года назад +2

    to be honest, this comparison is far from good. there's so many aspects it did not cover. for most mirrorless camera owners, they will apply adjustment to maximize the poential of the RAW/ dynamic range, and the result can be very different, even in good light. the computed bokeh on iphone is much worse. in low light condition, iphone can barely do any good photo.
    for a lot of general users who don't do postprosessing to photos and only eager to share the photo asap, iphone is a good choice. but whenever you saw some good good on the instagram/social media, they mostly come from drone or camera with big sensor and good lense.
    im not a professional, but the photo iphone captured is not good enough even for me.(it's not iphone can't take good photos, but it has too much limitation)

My main use case was traveling- I have an a7iii and bunch of lenses but that along is another bag to carry around plus I am not a photographer that get paid doing this. I needed something small , reliable, good and easy to share my my content. iPhone 14 pro was my choice.
    I could not agree more with computational photography on cameras (Sony) that would be game changer.
    This video validated my decision.

    The professional cameras of course cannot be compared to the Iphone
    However, the portability, mobility, and ease of use of the Iphone is it’s primary power.
    It’s light, convenient, user-friendly. You can bring it pretty much everywhere and it’s most likely with you at all time.
    There’s also so many apps for the Iphone like Snapseed, lightroom, blackmagic app and others that let you customise the settings of your iphone cameras like ISO, Aperture, and even shutter speed giving you full control of your phone just like a pro camera
    Unless you really want top notch quality or shooting for weddings or other events that request top notch quality, Iphone wins most of the time
    However, as a professional photographer or videographer using Iphone is not acceptable because you make yourself look unprofresional
    This is because almost everyone has an Iphone and they would think they can do the same thing you did, especially if you charge thousands of dollars for a shoot.
    I have seen so many people using Iphones and even old Iphone like Iphone XR, and with external lenses you can buy for Iphones online, it can take a pretty good pictures where people would think taken by a mirrorless camera.
    Also the fact that the camera body cost more than 2k and a good lenses would cost another 500-2k
    I would expect heavenly differences
