I have all the books, but only have read up through vol 2. I love these books though (except for my Vol 1 that literally fell apart at the spine and I had to replace). They look so handsome on the shelf and... I just love ribbon bookmarks, lol. I didn't know about this Last Ronin book. Looks like a pretty interesting read so I put an order in for one.

I got my copy yesterday from Amazon, and man….did the book came in damaged with a tear running down the spine of the book, which I will be returning. So I decided to go to Barnes and Noble yesterday and pick up the book myself and get a good copy. Overall Amazon’s shipping care and handling sucks, but I can’t wait to get into the book, so excited.
Mine, luckily, arrived not damaged, despite their best efforts of putting it in a massive box with NO extra packing. When ordering books on Amazon ALWAYS go with a third party seller, and not shipping from an Amazon warehouse. They're the worst.
Amazon is awful, every time I order books from there I know it's coming with a bent corners 100% and forget ordering omnis unless you have to, it's 50/50 if it comes messed up with those. eBay is where I go for omnis over Amazon because at least it comes packaged well.

Comparing this to The Dark Knight Returns is high praise! Excited to get my copy. I read the originals way back as a kid, so I'm sure this will be nostalgic while still being readable to an older, jaded adult.
This will likely be in the new IDW Hardcover Compendium (omnis). It gets mentioned, naming the last turtle, in the notes of the ultimate editions. It would be cool to see it put back in the original run when they first planned it to go.
Already picked it up from my local comic shop. I also speculated correctly who the Last Ronin was before getting my hands on the first issue and was not disappointed it wasn't my favorite character.
Unfortunately me typing the last ronin on YT to find a review or overview like this, some dick put the name of the turtle in the title. Which is a bummer. But hopefully when I get it in the mail, I have several twists and a good story to look forward to besides his identity.
why is my binding on this so crappy from amazon. It doesnt look or feel sewn at all. It always wants to close shut and just seems like it is glue binding. Did they change after the initial run?
Definitely on the list to buy list. Read the first issue & was blown away by the art & story. I was hoping the hardback edition would be a little larger, but the packaging as is still quite beautiful.

I recently heard about the storyline of all the turtles dying off apart from one and thought the storyline sounded amazing. I’ve been told there is 5 books in total am I correct ? And the one in your video here is the 1st one ? I want to be able to read them all in the correct order basically Thankyou!

It can be read stand alone, but it follows the continuity of the original comics, not the cartoon, so there may be some tone whiplash. The original series, and this, are ALOT more dark,grim and mature than the cartoon series
I bought 2 separate versions of the issues as a collector, but still ordered the Hardcover for reading. Great story and art, highly recommend this also as a gift.

I picked up my copy. I'm glad they didn't use the same format as the IDW Collection as this is supposed to be separate from that series so the look should reflect that.
I've not been into the mainline ongoing series. Would just reading the Last Ronin and it's upcoming prelude make for a good read separate from the main line?
It technically takes place in a future after the first 10 issues of the Laird&Eastman comic, so you don’t have to read any of the IDW run to read this mini-series
kind of bummed on the lack of extras? not even the stuff in the #1 directors cut? or some commentary like in the tmnt ultimate hardcovers. maybe some background on them coming up with story all those years ago and some insight into that and why they never got to it until now, etc?....

This video is 9 months old so I have no clue if anyone will be able to answer my question but…. I’m just getting into the TMNT comics. I started with the hardcover “The last Ronin” as my first one. I also bought it cuz it’s the first 5 issues all in one and makes it easier for me to just cruise through instead of just buying all 5 individual issues. So, if I want to read the TMNT original comics, am I okay just buying Volumes 1-13 of the IDW collection since those collections are the first 100 issues? Or do I need to go and hunt down the original Mirage comics. And lastly, after this “The Last Ronin” hardcover which is 1-5. When will the 2nd hard cover book drop that includes the next issues of stories?

I don’t get how this was so popular. The idea of them all dying and one going for revenge is the only thing good about this. The writing was cringey. The whole time reading it I was shaking my head. Could have been way better. I don’t get the praise this got at all.
I pre-orderd it and since i couldn't find the single issues i have been waiting to read this since #1 came out... and now i have to wait extra days cause farmers are protesting and blocking the road or something🥲
I love the comics that deal with closure. Old Man Logan, Daredevil the End, Punisher the End.... and of course, The Last Ronin.
I like a book end to stories.

The original Mirage books are collected in the Ultimate editions or the Compendium hardcover. No word yet on a volume 2 HC of last ronin yet

It’s my favorite Incarnation of the turtles. Volume 2 of the Hc is when it really gets damn good.

I just wish the panels were much bigger and art was more detailed during the final fight, and not small panels with little art details.
