I went in knowing the turtles die, but when it actually happened for the first time with Raph, man. It hit hard. Seeing a childhood character just off’d just like that.
I appreciate how you're doing a real overview instead of going into detail or reciting dialogue.... So we still have the story details to look forward to when you read it.

Good read, Wish they would of taken a few issues to reveal who last Ronin was. Like slowly find out as we hear how the other turtles died

My goodness if this ever gets into the right hands for a big budget RATED R film is could be Out of Control Epicness. maybe a 2 part film.
I picked up the singles and #1 director's cut as they came out for collector's items, but grabbed the oversized hardcover when it released and waited to read it back to back. You're right, Gem, took way too long for the series to finish, I want to say it was 2 years. By the way, that's a dope Wu shirt.

I feel like, since the og Dark Knights Metal, this mini series has been worth the hype and price of admission, and holds up! I'm buying two books, one for myself and brother. It's that's good.

The winged guard near the end is the one who swooped in and saved Oroku after he jumped from the building.Also,my thought is Mikey was always struggling with the guilt and pain of losing his family which is why he was talking to himself.Thats why when he finally found his peace the voices in his head stopped.
Loved this book and on the fence about picking up the PCS statue that’s coming in the next couple months. Hoping to get a review of that if you pick it up!

Excited for your review on the PCS Last Ronin Statue! Turtles are my personal favorite comic characters ever. TMNT 4 Life 🐢🐢🐢🐢🍕 Now we just need a animated movie based on Last Ronin or a new Live Action movie thats done right!! Similar to the 1990 one

The Last Ronin is EASILY the best Turtles story ever written. And to that end, it's the only comic-based Turtle story I own. The ONLY thing I really wish (which is a hot take and a lone opinion) is that with all of the nods made to the franchise as a whole over the course of the story, it's a shame that the writers didn't use this opportunity to give acknowledgment to Venus. There was 100% a place for her here and with the tone of the story being told, she could have truly been given some level of cool with a hard-edged redesign and some gravitas that could have bled over into the larger Turtle-verse giving her a second chance at life.
She could have been with Mikey in the opening, fighting by his side and questioning his sanity since she wouldn't necessarily have heard the other turtles speaking to him much like April. And she could have died in the initial assault on the Foot headquarters that nearly killed Michelangelo; afterward being a forth ghost on his shoulder and giving him that much more of a push in believing that he should end his own life as his actions would have directly lead to Venus' death. And during the book's multitude of flashbacks, it could have been shown that when he'd traveled to Japan he found her helping to rebuild in the village where where Splinter and Donnie fell since she was born in Japan anyway. She could have fought along side the duo and miraculously survived the Foot's betrayal and attack. The village there that they all protected could have been her home further solidifying why the turtle and his father/mentor were there and afterward she could have followed Mikey on his soul searching journey and then back to NYC to aid in the revenge for the village attack and the turtles' and Master Splinter's deaths. After all, they were her family as well...however estranged.
Then, after his death at the story's end, Venus could have been there waiting for Mikey with the others.
There really was no real reason to exclude her in my mind. And it just feels kind of crappy that her character was never really given a chance to grow by ANY corner of the fandom just because she was introduced in a show that was universally understood to be bad all own its own and which would have been bad regardless of whether she'd been invented or not. Also, the thought of Mikey using a metal tessen to fight and deliver one of the killing blows to Oroku makes me smile a bit.
This series was awesome loved every issue.

I’m a huge ninja turtle supporter, since I was a child. l love THE LAST RONIN comics. Good writing, excellent comic structure, good emotional content and storylines. But…. I do not like how in all ended. It seems like an agenda is being pushed, and it just didn’t sit right with me.
