Even though I grew up Puerto Rico, I actually didn't start dancing until I was in Ames, Iowa (USA) - learning using online videos. This is my way of giving back to the community.
im not sure why anyone would say stupid things about these guys! they are doing a great job! its fun to watch them, and as they already said they are not pros..even though they are very good! so shut up and stop judging others! keep up the good work guys! so much fun to watch u teach!
I find it quite sad of ppl to sit there and negatively criticize these people who has taken the time to even provide what they have learned. Who is perfect enough to put their own Salsa Video with "0" zero mistakes? I feel that if anyone feels that strong to put out ill remarks, then the obvious solution would be not to watch the video. I find it commendable of them to try to help others wanted to learn Salsa. And to the Salsa instructors, please continue to do what you are doing? Thank you.
Post data: Admiro tu bellezaaaaaaaaaaaaa
Antony eres mi maestro, gracias a tus videos he aprendido nuevos pasos.
I love your videos! This one is great but there is much in it, that it's hard to remember everything in a row. I like how you put subtitles on each move so we know what to call them and then try to remember them by name in order to make it easier to perform in practice. I also like your sense of humor in your subtitles!
For those who are criticizing how "stiff" the instructor and the follower looks, the context is taken out of place. This isn't a performance styling guide to salsa. These are routine guides. The routines are very complicated. For instructional videos like this, it's a better choice to keep the moves and steps simple minus the extra styling. That way the viewers can add their own styling or "feeling" to their own liking. On another note, keep up the good work, Anthony and Julie.
After watching this video and practicing, I can see how "it's very simple"! :) Thanks for such an awesome video Anthony! On a side note; all of you critics should stop with your negative comments. This man has posted countless videos without charging a dime. It's people like him that I respect for sharing their passion in something and taking time out of their day to do so. If you think he's a terrible instructor, make your video and show us how you'd do it.
FustyKe, you can't just tell people how to dance... Everyone has its own style of dancing and they are all diferent! You're awesome Antony! And Julie you're amazing! Keep on xD
I really enjoy your videos. I'm an instructor as well and your videos have helped me progress as an instructor in terms of how to break down the steps and explain them indifferent ways. Keep up the good work Anthony. Jorge "Pan Sobao" from Orlando, FL
Hi I'm from Panama and I used to saw the salsa with less spining and like more tu sabes mas como la pareja junta. I said these because and better in merengue than salsa I always have problens with the salsa but I love the salsa with spins and you videos r so helpfull but I like to learn more of salsa sensual because I always dance with my girlfriend. But you r a great instructor and thanks for the lessons
i like these guys. They're very good, not perfect but certainly entertaining. And i respect anyone who's willing to give free lessons online seeing as how most people are stingy with their art fom. So many thanks to apersaud. And lil miss thang over there does turn extemely well. :)
Hello Anthony, I just wanted to say thank you and congrats for your great work, you must know that your videos are very useful. I hope that you upload more videos and please ignore the comments from the envy people and people that they thinks are better and they don't do nothin for helping people. Thanks again :)
Nice. I like it. Thank you very much, Keep'em coming. You did some things that I haven't thought of and found it interesting. I hope to post some of my own salsa videos soon.
i do this combo,i like it. i also use some moves the combo in my other dances. some people included advanced level ones and instructors, have asked me how i learned this combo. this is a quite easy and outstanding combo.
Nice combo....well demonstrated and explained (On1 and On2). Concerning the comments that FernandezD90 made.....whatever you are smoking, you need to pass it around. At 01:14....she never got hurt, she did a head toss. Those movements are not violent...they are just to advance for you. But I guess your pride and ego won't let you admit to that Once again...great job and you are right, the advance dancer will catch on faster than the beginners. Something we need to remind FernandezD90.
The 4 & 8 are counts in which steps are not taken, and therefore are not explicitly mentioned. As you know, Ballroom Salsa is taught as 'quick, quick, slow' - which correlate to the tuple of counts (1,2,3) and (5,6,7), where the 4 & 8 elongate the timing (slow) of the counts 3 & 7. Therefore, by convention in instruction, these counts are omitted. If you watch our advanced videos, the 4 & 8 are used for body movement, styling and additional steps when performing more complex patterns.
Cool, Tony, you're a great online salsa master! Nice multi-combo, I'm going to practice it after class or in a "salsera" little by little, but I think it's not so complicated as it seems, that's just a combination of several figures. Anyway, don't use to make "harder combos", when you have to memorize them always you do it figure by figure and at the end you finally get the combo in your head. Keep "salsing". Arkantos (from Argentina)
They are from 'Ballo' dance shoes. They make great men's dance shoes. If you do decide to contact them, let them know you found about them from Anthony (addicted2salsa). That way they might decide to become a sponsor. :-)
Yes, this is a more an advanced episode. Once you get used to learning patterns from videos, this video should just be a quick reference of new moves since most of the patterns are based on fundamental moves (cross-body, open break, raindbow..etc)
At no point do we say we are professionals, and the videos are here for supplementary purposes just as textbooks and workbooks help a professor during a lesson keep students engaged and enthusiastic about the material.
:) Anthony I've been learning from your videos (kinda) love your style because it's leadable in a social environment. great job dude.
This video is meant for instruction, not to showcase style. We remove style to so that the moves performed are clear and reproducible by the viewers. (Ex. taking larger steps and marking them heavily, showcasing arms more abruptly..etc).
I love your movies! I've just found them, and I'm stuck! I really love dancing, especially latin (preferrably the 'real thing', not the ballroom version... =P ). unfortunately, I won't be allowed to go to the salsa clubs untill another 8 months... my friends and I are counting the days, we're all salsa freaks... ;)
You are doing a great job apersaud, when I first started salsa I;ve learnt from your videos alot. Ok maybe not alot, I think the only way yo learn is to social dance alot and practice hard :D You should take into account that is very confusing for beginners to put an intro danced on2, and than teach the pattern on1 and at the end again on2. They might confuse the break on2 on the 2nd beat, with 5 from on1 on the first beat and this could lead with them dancing offbeat. my thougts
First of all Thanks for the lessons, they are great and easy to follow. Could you guys do a lesson on a faster type of salsa such as boogaloo, maybe "fiebre boogaloo" by La Misma Gente, with more foot work and less turns, I guess what I'm asking is if you guys can do a lesson on some of the steps used on salsa caleña from Colombia. Once again thanks for your videos.
Yeah, indeed, I'm still using the combos showed in the previous videos when I'm dancing, together with the "combo of the day" of my class and everything I remember after 1 year of practicing salsa. However, the important thing is having fun (being smooth). For me, achieve this online stuff in real life is another step forward. Think "very easy", it helps, haha.
I'm never heard of 'Cross Body Style'. We dance salsa/mambo (on1 and on2). We start dancing in the intro on2 (NY style) and describe the move On1 (LA Style).
The moves do not look complex, but it it certainly gg to be hard to master. There are certain parts which can be pretty hard to lead (e.g. cross body lead to hammerlock with guy's hand over head [4 min 7 sec]). Really nice combo! i will try it this weekend in my salsa class.
Yeah. Most of the stuff is not complicated, depending on your skill level. Leading it correctly and being smooth is what makes it challenging. As far as doing too much on the video - just take it in strides and hope it lasts you a few weeks before the next episode. :-)
I appreciate the moves and d' choreographed of the turorial.... but some parts of it is hard to understand.... its very vague.. or not consistent. But it was awesome guys.. Keep it up pls... post a clear tutorial... for us... ur fan. Thanks
I think the name of the song is called "Philly Mambo" , but they play in many versions. You can listen the one from Cal Tjader who has many songs played in Jazz Mambo.
Yes, I'm from Puerto Rico. However, being of a certain heritage does not affect your ability to feel the music. Note that this is an instructional video (to illustrate not to perform) not a social dancing video.
I see the part that you are referring to, but what I was doing was a little head toss (a technique ladies use to keep hair out of our face with complex combos)
Hey Anthony many thanks for all the videos!! I recently dowloaded the pocket salsa application on my cell phone, its cool. However i get an error on downloading the videos.. I get a message to check the memory in my sd card if its full. The strange thing is that my memory card is not full. Could you help..?
@Blazerelf ...I am a beginner at Salsa and most women at the Salsa clubs I go to don't Salsa at high level. Usually the women who Salsa at a high level only dance with guys they know can dance at the same level. Many of the advance level moves require a lot of space on the dance floor which you will not typically have in a club environment.
Hi guys, thanks for a great video. I'm loving all those 'very simple' :-) moves but don't get one thing - Lets say you're dancing with somebody you don't know - how do you guys communicate in all that speed what's coming next? I'm having hard time anticipating when trying to dance with an advanced dancer - often turning the other way or completely being taken by surprise by any turns - throwing me off the beat... So embarrassing! Also any tips how to get my head around those fast double spins?
You can buy the song through iTunes using the link provided in the 'description' of the video.
great moves! I wonder what level I am?... I know two of the moves he shows, and simpler variations of the the others he shows. I could also follow what he was doing. I need to get a practice partner to practice them tho.
Congratulations for the good job, I always see your new videos! I tried to find the great music you use in your videos (Philadelphia Mambo), but I can't find it anywhere. Could you send it to me?

actually the way you teach it is very simple to understand. keep it up. i learn a lot from you guys
Good teacher's / instructors, watching this video and other Latino dance video's today I really gonna think to start learning the Salsa dance.
I love your videos! This one is great but there is much in it, that it's hard to remember everything in a row. I like how you put subtitles on each move so we know what to call them and then try to remember them by name in order to make it easier to perform in practice.

yeah real good, i like the subtitles ;)
Hi.... you guys are good. I just started Salsa 2 months ago. Love your videos. Very helpful. Do you have DVD for Beginners to Advance. Thanks....
awesome - thank you

That is a great pattern, specially the cuddle work.
What is the song at the beginning?
Great!
I'm sure you can do a much better job dancing salsa. However, I seem to have trouble finding videos of you dancing on youtube. Do you have any? ;-)
You can buy the song through iTunes using the link provided in the 'description' of the video.
excelent
The Hi-Definition video format is available on requeset (just because they are much bigger in file size) :-)
great moves! I wonder what level I am?... I know two of the moves he shows, and simpler variations of the the others he shows. I could also follow what he was doing. I need to get a practice partner to practice them tho.
If anyone visits Panama One Day, I recommend going to Talleres Aprende Bailar Salsa. Its Cheap and you learn a lot.
Congratulations for the good job, I always see your new videos!
I tried to find the great music you use in your videos (Philadelphia Mambo), but I can't find it anywhere. Could you send it to me?
do anyone know which rendition of the song the is every time i try finding this song i get many different versions but this one is the best one imo
this is great!
thanks!
PD: If you could wear a different color of clothe than the flOor, I think we could appreciate your moves better!
Good explanation ;-)
This one is by "Los Gatos"

if u think they are off beat there not its because what you are listening to and what they are listening to are completely different
