That house would rent for over $1,500+ in my hometown USA! The Best thing we ever did was RETIRE in the Philippines. If we stayed in Pennsylvania I would have to work Full time and my pension would be spent by the 1st of the month. Living here in the Philippines I can save $$. I eat fresh fruits & vegetables daily from my gardens and travel frequently enjoying the Sites here. We ❤ THE PHILIPPINES
How much per month did he say it’s renting for?
@@billbradley2480 He said his rent was about php12,000 . That is about $200 USA
@@billbradley24801200 to 1300 , that like $21usd crazy cheap
That's awesome!! I'm 24 months away from SS and planning to 50/50 USA/pi
But the more I think, I am inclined to 100% Pi retire
Lots of people on YT are doom and gloom regarding retirement in the Philippines for under 2500/4000 USD.
But honestly, that's for living the same in a different country and doesn't make sense.
Province life in Mindinao is simple and not expensive
So many wonderful places there. 20 minutes from civilization, coffee shop, mall, no problem!! Enjoy your retirement !!!! Very positive comment BTW, we need more of those
@@jeffjeff4477 I’m a retired Truck driver 66 years old and have thought about moving to Mexico or Philippines but I know what’s planned for the USA dollar and it’s gonna be rough when it crashes.
Nicest guy you’ve had on yet, what a gem
Indeed he seems very nice. I hope to see more from him in the future.
What a awesome pair ! I am a big guy like him, he gives me hope I can live there ! LOL
Your friend is such a kind guy, and compassionate to help the gentleman staying in the spare bedroom... So very nice 👍
Mike do more vlogs of visiting people in their homes and their life there.........Its powerful!!!!!
Have you seen the one that has Cat & he visiting an expat & his fiancée & then viewing gorgeous kinda cliff ocean view near their home? That’s a really good one. I can’t recall what town they lived in…maybe someone will know the vlog & couple I’m referencing. I think the man is …Belgian? It was posted in past 6 months , one of Catherine’s early appearances on the channel.
I really appreciate your friend allowing you to record and show us around.
Very nice people!
such a good Video, like when you do stuff like this, simple life and happiness
may this man live a long comfortable life
I wonder what his accent is... French-Canadienne?
I'm a Filipina but currently in Ottowa ..it's a nice thing choose Philippines for his retirement .. Yes , I agree simple living , and happiness , over attach to material thing .. life is too short , the important now is the happiness , the comfort ,and the love you have ..keep enjoying Simple life in the Philippines

this mans aura is amazing. being an old hippie i can see it even on the internet.
I really love seeing westerners finding home and a genuine filipina, genuine love. May both of them live a long and happy life.
Can only found such deam girls in The Philippines. Plus😊 they are low maintenance.
Great job with your interviews. greats details and stuff. Im a filAm and lived in LA for 20 years, now im back here for 5 years now.. Theres so much to say about LIFE here, Simple, content, and happy!!

Me and my husband retired in the Philippines and living a simple and layback life😅... we have a self sufficient farm with garden vegetables to the point i hardly even buy meat and vegetables and our groceries technically once in every three months😅 and our bills monthly is for gas and electricity .
Fantastic video Mike!

Hello everyone. Watching from Toronto, Canada.
Enjoying this comfy and affordable kind of vlog! ❤❤
Good day Michael too bad I was not there in sta Rosa Laguna when you come visit the house of my niece. That would be a great chance to meet you in person. Know what the foreigner husband of my niece is so simple and very friendly. He is not a shy type to get to know his wife s relative.bby the way I am a native of the said barangay and am ur subscriber ever together with bianca. Shout out to catch and Lara and to my family in sta Rosa Laguna. We are a big family out there.
Maybe next time :)
I’m Filipina, married to an American for almost 30 years, but I’m just not sure what it is but something about this girl just doesn’t sit right from the very beginning, just my opinion. I sure hope I’m wrong…
Cat is just shy! I know she takes good care of Michael.
Hiding something wipes out her being a good carer@@thekormans3582
Same thinking.
Nice house for the price. I have been in Philippines 3 years now and loving it. New sub
Mike......you could not have said any better......people strive for materialism, and they are not actually living.......I will take it a big step further.......people are brain washed into believing materialism is living.........when in fact they have been fooled to chase after a fallacy.......I have dumped my possessions.....I have no stuff!!! I have never felt more free in my life. I cant wait to live there in the Philippines.......
I so enjoyed the heck out of that video.
I don’t understand why you can’t go to the family house with her???
Maybe the fam is embarrassed by the poor conditions?
Maybe baby daddy lives back there to. Hmmm
D'ooh @@want2bsailing804
Yeah that put up a red flag for me too….not allowed to go to parents house…that’s not right!
That's a huge red flag that's telling me he's nothing but a Mr. ATM for her and her daughter that's a big red flag if you asked me
Something’s wrong Michael when you’re not welcome in grandparents home, I grew up in the Philippines and live in California for past 43 years. Filipinos open their homes to boyfriend, suitors, husband etc. something’s not right and there is absolutely not any kind of explanation or excuses for this. I would sit down and talk about this like yesterday, not tomorrow. Yes, I am not pure Filipino but raised and born in Philippines. Nothing to do with you’re not Filipino.
You hit it right on the head but he's a man let him learn
Likely they are not good English speakers or shy. So they dont have to converse with Mike.
I have met them all several times and they walk to the road to see us off. Just never seen their house
Maybe they don’t have a nice house, and are shy to welcome Michael in their house. If I were you,Michael. Ask Kat to bring you in their house. Maybe if you have extra money later on, give Kat an allowance, that way she can help her parents do some repairs on their house. Just a suggestion. Hope you won’t mind.
Does seem a bit odd.
Do you think it's a red flag that you were not able to come and see her gtand parents house?
I envy John. I want to be him!!!
Michael, Absolute love the Vlogs. Your relationship with Kat seems to be going from strength to strength! Your friend JP and his family seem amazing!
Not been in the PH since last August and miss it all the time!
Next time we are in the Philippines and near Roxas we will swing by the Beaver. Love from the UK
Thank you for featuring my province I'm from antique but working here at clark pampangga as a chef. You found a right place to live .
Its beautiful house your dad built, make sure you check people out well, they dont destroy your Dads hard work he put into house,he loved his home i pray people who rents it will take great care of it.also pay rent on time as well.renting is bad all over, people dont care about your home.😂tear things up
swerte niya kasi na punta siya sa maalagaing Pilipina well tatanda ka na maayos ang buhay na walang stress sa Pinas god blessed
Mike, as with other commenters, I think most likely Kat or her grandma are just embarrassed about the living condition. You're so down to earth white guy and I believe you can slowly show that to them and erase the misunderstanding and for them to fully grasp your emphatic side. Being a white dude or a Gringo, in most cases, in certain countries they are being looked up to no matter what or where that person at in social hierarchy from country of origin. Specially to certain demographic of populace in the Philippines. You know what I mean.
I think so too. Kat is a nice girl. It’s just that she’s not come from a well off family. But that’s ok.
Agree
Wow like you love iloilo, Comfortable living lesser budget!
This is great content
Absolutely correct if you live outside Manila in Province it’s cheapest instead to live in your country $1,500 you will be happy living because it’s very comfortable if you live outside Manila
God bless both of you; you seem to be both lovely people.
I totally agree - we can’t bring material things when we die - better live simply but happy ❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Your old friend has a very nice setup. He pays for all the maintenance and gets free rent. I hope he has a nice emergency fund.
It's a lot cheaper living in the Philippines for 1,050 USA $..because its equivalent todays peso-dollar rate =57,000 pesos plus..with this budget ..10k to 20 k for foods is more than enough...renting a Haus or getting a subdivision for 6 t 7k pesos monthly amortization would leave you with 23,000 pesos plus for extra or savings ... That's why retiring Americans ( even Canadians, australians,Europeans) would do well living in the Philippines ...
ANOTHER GOOD VIDEO
Great content
Interesting guy
👍👍👍
Don’t relocate to the Philippines if you hate a natural alarm clock every 4-5 AM. That is for the farmers to farm early and have siesta when the sun is too high. But if you love healthy living then this is a good place. Have courtesy visit to the Barangay and expect that you will be protected and invited during fiestas.
Hey man, your gut feeling is talking to you and you're ignoring it. It was obvious in your bringing up the topic in the video. You know something ain't right. Tried to warn you that province girls who frequently travel to Angeles for a couple months or so, are usually working as bar girls earning money. I have never heard or seen a Filipino family, even the poorest that are living in shack doing what they are doing with you. You wouldn't even have to film the experience and I still can't imagine making you stay at the end of the road. In the Filipino culture, it would be an ultimate disrespect, no matter how poor they are. This girl comes across sketchy as heck in your video's and it doesn't look like it is a case of being shy, but rather one of cunning and deceit. I hope I'm wrong on this, but I suggest you start thinking with the head on your shoulders, and have some tough conversations.
Thanks
Thank you for video
yes!will retire in the Philippines too…simple living!
many canadians would love to live in a house so nice.. 🏝
Nice place thank you for sharing

Big red flag Michael! Something is not right when you’re not being invited and told to wait on the road. Filipina’s don’t do this unless they’re hiding something from you.
@@SirMikeMiller exactly😢
Perhaps the family is embarrassed by poverty conditions?
There is something that she is hiding it's not normal for Philippino to do this
Let him learn
Maybe she is embarrassed by grandparents living conditions. Nevertheless something seems not right. You should be welcomed to meet and spend time with the grandparents. The people staying in the rural areas all live a simple life with simple homes. This is the way they enjoy to live life. Grandparents would normally want to meet the new man in her life. I am sure the grandparents would cook a meal for Michael and family all eat and drink refreshments together. He must just occupy himself whilst his girlfriend is spending time with her parents. Strange set up especially for Philippino families. He mentions on his vlog he always gets told to wait outside on the road and has never been
invited to come inside house. Not normal in any society.
You can hardly hear the roosters for the dogs barking.
Your previous place in Guimbal City could be described as in "Mint Condition" (given the green walls.)
😂
33:20 $60,000 PHP = $1,431.78 CDN
(Pesos to Canadian Dollars)
Not a bad monthly budget!
Very tempting. I might consider it for at least 6 months. If I remember correctly from your first vid... noise wasn't a problem there. How is the trash pickup? I liked Iloilo and Roxas as well as Solina-Carles. I made the same trip u did. My biggest negative for Iloilo is having to fly to Cebu if you wish to go anywhere and my plans are to travel for a couple months after moving out of Makati. AND.. I just came down with shingles.. which I hope goes away quickly.
Get well soon
@tryscience thank u..have an amazing day 😉

Wow! You're paying that out of the goodness of your heart? You must be rich man! You can rent a 5 star high rise condo, with rooftop pool, and gym for that price. There's no way that's worth a grand!
He put on the screen $190.57 US!
$190 a month not a grand Nick
@@ThatPhilippinesLife My bad, I thought it was $1050 per month for the rent. Wasn't paying attention....
Great video. Not sure if it’s me but I have a very hard time finding a comfortable bed there over there. They can sleep on a rock but for me I need a bed.
Try to practice sleeping on a sleeping bag or a thin mattress (2 to 3 inches). Many Filipinos can sleep on thin mattresses or on the floor. Good/ thick mattresses are pricey, so only few people buy them. If you stay for a long time & you're not content with the lamdlord's mattress, then buy your own.
There is full bed mattress +you can add a foam mattress on top like I did. 😊😊
You can get what you want in any major city, it's just more expensive so often people choose foam
Kat probably worked as a Bar Girl in Angeles and her Husband lives with the Grandparents.
be careful brother...Still waters are deep.
Smart decision. Meager pension can be stretch and has more plus a little savings. Fresh veggies and fruits. Taking care of by Filipina wife.
Permission to comment sir, i know this guy he doesn't ask a permission first to the family that belongs to this house before this vlog, his wife is my grand mother the mother of my father and his wife has a sister and brothers that holds the house before and after my grand father died. First of all my Fathers grand father is the owner of that house and the upgrade of that house has a little amount only i think in peso it will run 250,000 only sir, i'm not destroying the image of that guy I'm just wondering why he is lying to the social media or in everyone that he communicate, by the way sir we are the grand child of her wife but we don't have a right to go inside the property or to visit inside the house, Sir I hope you understand and im not lying because i have so many witnesses thank you sir and god bless to your family ❤

Great vlog a nice change from the Beaver Bar ones. Nice to mix it up.

I don't know how much peace can come with so many dogs and roosters.
If you were not born in this kind of environment life will be hard, but if you born in such environment it is normal. I from Seychelles it is the same here , but I get frustrated with traffic noises. But watching so much vlogs about Philippines OMG this country is on another level of noise pollution, you have dogs, roosters, traffic, karaoke, musics, parties, fiesta's, even wave smashing on the coasts this is too much. Be it in cities, jungles or village everywhere you must be prepared for noise pollution in this country.
My beach house is pretty quiet except when a loud bike or trike drives by the road. There is peaceful places here
You are right. Philippines is very noisy place to be. Hotels were playing music at the pool even at 2am. Traffic noise is bad, Traffic pollution is terrible. People were wearing face masks or cloth over their mouth even before covid. City streets smells so bad from exhaus smoke.
I have rooster in Europe too but I can hear him maybe once a day. Filipino roosters crowing nonstop all day and night. It's the breed of the rooster or I don't know why. European roosters are not so noisy.
But if you look long enough, you will find quiet place.
@@PavolKosik-b3uYou have rooster only? I used to have chickens and a rooster. And every time during the day one of the chickens lay her egg, she let it know. And then what do you think the rooster will do? Exactly, he will craw to announce it loudly. Several times a day, every day. Add to that his regular crawing late evening, midnight, early morning (4-5am), then you know a rooster in the Philippines is not any different from his European brother.
@@hansreynders6853 Have you ever been in Philippines? Their roosters do not shut up 24h a day. I guarantee you that I do not hear nonstop 24 hours a day roosters in countriside in Europe. Their roosters are different. I live my entire life in a village with a lot of roosters and chickens so pardon me, you have no clue about Filipino roosters.
Good for him living in a $1,000.00 a month. l stay in Iloilo City earning around $4,000.00 a month and l think how could l survive with my earnings until l see this video. Maybe l just have to live with how much l have.
Beautiful house and place
G'day mate open that fridge/freezer when not in use or mould and bacteria will grow inside
A house like this in Sydney Australia where i live would only be available to very high income earners and as rentals here are advertised at a weekly amount, I would estimate it to be about 8-900 AUD per week (about 138600 PHP per calendar month) due to it being a house (not a unit or condo) in good condition, aircon installed, large balcony good safe neighbourhood, able to be locked up, big car spaces(s) and a good area and location, just shows the pathetic quality of life we have when we retire here in Sydney compared to there at this location, makes me want to neck myself :(, PS great video and so informative as your videos generally are, cheers mate.
Nice life.😊
What a good guy JP
What a wholesome video
10k a month in Orange County CA
I live on an Island like you Mike in the Seychelles, roosters, dog barking is common and the same I am immuned to this, but here we have another noise pollution neighbours play their music loud but thanks here you should stop by 8 pm it is by law this, otherwise the police can take your music set and dump it. Looking at so many vlogs from the Philippines now I realise that the Philippines is on another level of noose population that can maybe hard for me that is Karaoke these off tune singing, those loud vehicles mufflers, fiestas day and night omg Philippines really the noise level is at another level.
I have been very lucky on all the homes I have lived in I have never had to deal with karaoke at odd hours. Very very lucky
Thats so awesome
Nice couple!
Really cool guy. He looks a bit like Gerard Depardieu.
I would avoid family comments in the future. Completely innocent comment of waiting by a rural street, people are already using it to give their Five thousand opinions and some are not polite. I would simply address it in private and avoid any future mentions.
Michael, give it time. Her grandparents are new to this whirlwind romance as we all are. Filipinos are very much welcoming and accommodating until you’re the “boyfriend” of their daughter or in this case granddaughter. Overtime if you stick around long enough, you’ll be surprised by a welcome to the family.
So how guys like living in the Philippines I’m thinking of moving back to Bacolod city just worried about the medical.
Whats the name of that place? Do they have ac rooms for transients infront of the beach? Would love to explore that place.
Great Job!

What will the foreign retirees in the Philippines do with their low pension when the currency exchange rate will be 1:1 in the near future.
Rhetorical question: Wonder why they won't invite him back to the grandparents' house.
