The shore landing/launching on a rocky area and sand for traction are both BIG no goes for a hard board, but, of course, great tips for inflatables... thanks
I have a tip for you. Try looking into the lens when talking to the camera. it is obvious that you are looking at your self on the screen. Don't feel bad lots of people make that mistake. Your videos will look way better when you start looking at the lens I am looking forward to seeing your review of the Blackfin Ultra cx I just got one 😀
Great! I’ve had an unpleasant iced-over slippery deck experience. Even started that session of a sandy beach but never thought about using that sand. Next winter below zero won’t hold me back anymore.
Another cold-weather paddler - awesome! Haha yes sand is a perfect solution and pretty much everywhere haha. I've also thought about using board wax (or hockey stick wax, like a true Canadian) to help keep it in place!
The thing you were talking about where you adjust your stance when needed, if found that to come in very handy when fishing and trying to stay relatively still while standing up. Sometimes I’ll choke up on the board to help fight breeze or wake.
Smart - choking up for wind is something I haven't really thought about - I'll be sure to keep that in mind. There are so many different ways to use a paddleboard (particularly when fishing) I'm constantly learning new techniques.
Nice share boys!! I have shared that in some SUP facebook groups hope ya dont mind. And here in the far north me call that technique of going up on the nose to lighten the rear " a nose wheelie" haha it is great for getting around icebergs that have below the surface extensions.
Hey thanks Rich - greatly appreciate the sharing! Haha the nose wheelie / endo is definitely useful in the shallows - gotta get up there to explore some icebergs sometime!
Gosh, with icebergs and snow??? Sprinkling sand on the board to not slip off the icy surface?? This is freakin' mad stuff you guys are up to, never occurred to me that this could be fun! But, seeing you, you are really enjoying what nature throws at you! I'm feeling like a bloody chicken now, using a wetsuit with 13 - 16 degrees C water temperature and still concerned about taking a dip. Great video, great tips, I really enjoyed, you made my day and I'll definitely change my way of thinking!!! Big hugs from Nazaré/Portugal xxx
Haha amazing! Nothing wrong with wearing a wetsuit and staying warm :) It never seemed crazy to us to be out in the cold, we're just keen to get outside regardless of the temperature. But there is a certain joy to overcoming whatever the elements throw at you!
@@luftbrospaddle4656 there is, definitely!!! And I guess when one is used to the cold and knows ho to deal with it year after year again, it is kind of "normal". For sure to those who are addicted to outdoors. There is 8 days missing to make it 20 years since I'm living outdoors and in freedom. I'm a sailor (although re-building my boat at the mo) and I really know about this joy of overcoming what the elements throw at you, makes us stronger. And often a great adventure afterwards (like this bloody hurricane that caught me halfway on the way from the Azores to mainland Europe in 2009)! Only, the cold ... I guess I've been in warmish areas too long. Last winter with my half open boat, the fierce winds blowing in through each single gap and temps outside dropping down to minus 5 Celsius I reached icycle-state even freezing sometimes in my bunk. Or this night at anchor in the Rio Guadiana with driving sleet and fierce winds. I had to go anchor-watch from midnight till the change of the tide at 8 in the morning getting freezing cold out in the cockpit. A hot tea, hot water bottle in my bunk, 2 hours of "sleep" and up again to find a more protected anchorage. Or sailing north with the boat of a friend. Suddenly and unexpectedly, after crossing Biscay and arriving in Brittany we found out that November is actually getting fresh further north and we had completely forgotten to take anything resembling warm clothes. But back to your video, there is several shots I've really been in stitches and every time again when I even think of it, most of all the one in your house-slippers where you demonstrate how to jump around on your board. Lively and so awesome, I love it!!! xxx
And what I love most: there is so many videos out there where people are playing the SUP instructor, tropical background, smooth warm waters all around, perfect conditions, and of course they pretend to know it "all". You don't, you simply are who are, you can't be bothered to pretend anything, to the contrary. And your landscapes are awesome! It's sooooooo refreshing and so much more fun!!!! Thank you heaps!!!!
@@dodystiller3718 You don't know how much I appreciate hearing this :) Thanks so much for the feedback Dody! It's a little intimidating putting out videos when you know there are so many more experienced paddlers out there, but figured it always worthwhile sharing what you've learned regardless - there's always a chance it's exactly what someone else needed to hear! Sounds like you've lived quite the adventure sailing - what an amazing way to experience the ocean. That's a world a know very little about being from the landlocked mountains! Haha!
If you're not comfortable, you can always stay on your knees! I've launched / landed my SUP hundred of times this way (and it's especially useful in the winter when it's -10 and you don't want your feet to freeze!), but obviously if you're not comfortable, err on the side of safety!

Finally a list of tips that is actually full of new and useful ideas! Thanks for making this video.
Really appreciate the comment! Glad you found it useful :)

Haha appreciate the advice - not really sure where you're supposed to look to be fair when filming on an iphone! I'll try that. 👍

I can't believe how clear that water was! I thought you were throwing that fish onto the ground!
Haha! We love these lil' trout too much to chuck them on the ground :P Yup the water out in the mountains can be pretty pristine!
Winter paddle boarding ? Didn't know that was a thing 🤣
Haha beach season is all season here!
awesome thank you - new to SUP & the tips are great
Glad they're useful to you, and welcome to SUPing! We'll be posting lots more in the weeks to come :)

very helpful thank you
Good for beginners or experts it seems. I learnt something. Thanks.
Awesome :) That's the goal - we're constantly learning with this sport too! All the best!
Super Groovy Bud
Extending the paddle for carrying really made me feel stupid for not thinking of that. Seems so obvious now...
Haha! Don’t sweat it, took me about 2 years to figure that one out :)
You are awsome...Great tips..
You are awesome! Appreciate you commenting :) Thanks!
❤ 💙 Thank you!!!
Great tips. It's the little things that count. Fantastic video. Thanks for sharing your insights.

Coo brother, thanks for the tips
Hey, no problem! Hopefully they’re helpful :)
Look at the camera lens and NOT yourself--can't stand youtubers that are talking or can't take their eyes off of themselves to talk to us. Bye.
Haha never even knew that was a thing. When you're on a zoom call - do you look at the lens or the other person :P Haha! Fairwell!
Bad advice to get on on the rocks standing up ! Bad advice to bring it in on the rocks so you don’t get your feet wet!
