Same here. I have only been out twice but can't wait too put into action all these super tips and tricks.
Thanks man, I'm trying out SUP this weekend and your vid has some good info.
That's a petty big jump in a person's skillset from still needing to take a knee (i.e., essentially just hanging on for dear life over a mere boat wake) ...to then executing a pivot turn!
No kidding! I've been on my board 4x and when I saw that pivot turn, I was like "I won't be needing to do THAT for awhile."
@@geegeemcgee9135 just practice a tiny bit it’s really not that hard well it is but like the montuno isint bad your just gonna fall in just find some still deep water
Thank you for your tips.
I've been out a few times but never tried the pivot turn so definitely something for next time, thank you!
Wow awesome I show all those moves to all new paddle boarder thank you for teach us how to be safe and enjoy. Matt h for teaching out of black creek outfitters
Thanks learning a lot from you 👍👍👍
Thanks for this video
Nice video. Cheers!
as a novice to SUP, I really appreciate your video series, it's been of great help to me to learn the basic stuff. Thank you!

Jimmy I have MAD RESPECT for you. Totally funny that you teach pivot turn but tell people to get to their knees when hitting a boat wake. LOL! Paddle into that wake, easy knees baby. Don't let that wake tell you where your going....make that waves yours and take control!
Totally agree...tip 1 and 2 are presented as if to a first timer...learning a pivot turn and potentially submerging the tail if aggressively done, is a monumental leap in skill. Makes for a rather silly progression and there are many other mandatory skills (such as actually paddling correctly) that should have filled that third spot instead for total novices. Make a more advanced level video and certainly include pivot turns on that...but a person who still needs to be able to even get back on the board or huddle down for a boat wake, isn't going to get anything out of a pivot turn.
Just moved to the beach. place called Rainbow beach in Queensland. after watching a couple of these videos think i might practice in the pool before i hit the beach. lol
I had no idea you could do a pivot turn! Can't wait to try it!
You fall in a lot LOL. It takes some work to perfect.
Same here! I usually just put the paddle at 45' in the water and do a wide semi-circle sweep!
Where is this video filmed?
Crap, I know that bridge. Are you based out of Jupiter? Did a lot of cycling over that bridge while I stayed in FL. I live in NY.
Good advice but on an inflatable board it is very difficult to climb on from deep water because they are so bouyant , practically impossible from the side as board doesn't sink but can flip over on top of you, stern is best but practice in safe conditions!
Lol have you ever been on whitewater ? You get on your board from the side all the time
IS the pivot something we can do on an ISUP? It looks so much easier on a solid board.
Yes. it can be harder depending on the board and how it maintains its stability, but it is definitely doable. Be prepared to go for a nice swim when learning :))
The only issue with pivot turn is that you simply cannot do it when you are new to the sport. We all learn different way so I guess it's always after at least couple of hours of experience that you can change your feet stance on the board. They are also other techniques to turn faster even for novice ppl so they should be mastered first.
If it were so easy as the video shows in 3 minutes would be great but by practicing it's another history 😂😂😂
Pivot time tomorrow !
I find it hard to get on an inflatable is a hard board easier to get on?
The hard one I have is thinner and thus easier than my inflatable
3:00 oh come on! That is NOT a beginner maneuver !
I really want a sup board but my parent say that is too expensive to buy...😥😢😢😢
Save up and purchase one second hand. You'll get there if you really want to dude. You should defo do it, it's the best thing ever.
