  • In this video, we go over our salt usage with our water softener. There are many factors to determine how much salt you'll use on a monthly/yearly basis, but we'll break down our factors and usage. When we installed this, we couldn't find much information on how much salt to initially add and wanted to know how much salt to stock up on for refills. We also talk a little about our moose "family" living on the river and using our plowed driveway for their access. We welcome any and all facts about moose as we're still trying to learn about their winter behaviors and how much they really work together through the winter. In total, we have 7 different moose that hang around. Three are older while we have two different sets of mamas with their baby. They're predicting that baby moose here in the interior of Alaska will have a high death rate due to the difficulty traveling because of the large amount of snow and rain we received earlier than usual for winter. We're hoping to watch our moose grow and prosper as we head into the second half of winter.

When you can fence in what yard and property you don't want them in. Fence then add an electric wire fence on top and that will keep them out. If you have animals and a food garden.

Yup good thinking, and we’ll definitely want them out of the garden. We’ve heard horror stories of Moose eating up gardens lol.

Yup that’s a good idea Daniel! Our computer has been down for about a week now so we haven’t been able to upload. Hoping to have that resolved this week and be back at it. Thanks for the advice and take care!

We keep our distance with the moose. They’re amazing to watch from afar. I’d take moose over bears any day (I think) lol!
