El ejercito de colombia aun los usa, use el Galil AR 5.56 en mi servicio militar... poderoso perro con 35 dientes, y ni hablar del ladrido. Confiable para ambientes duros, si se atasca creeme que es por defecto en la municion, muy preciso acertando entre 100 - 400 metros con facilidad incluso con la mira metalica

I always loved the utilitarian black matte look of the Galil. Overall layout seems highly intuitive for a first time user and the design is fantastic. One of my top five 5 rifles of all time.
I used the R5, the shorter and more importantly LIGHTER version of the R4, or the South African license built Galil. I also shot the R4 on a range during a day and later a night shoot. Good memories.
Funny how one of the best assault rifles in the world is a copy of _another_ great assault rifle. Yes, the Galil is effectively an Israeli AK. EDIT: Check that. It's actually a copy of another copy (the Finnish RK-62, which is based on the AK-47).
@@zdopagovnow The M16 is in no way similar to the STG44. 1: The STG44 got a gas piston operating system ( as The Ak47) snd the M16 is a direct intake (without a piston) but you right. its not a 1 to 1 copy. but the AK47 got some inspiration from the Stg44
@@Enigma1612the guns operate completely differently, and have nothing in common except for shape. Saying that the AK comes from the STG because it’s gas piston is like saying that the Deagle comes from the STG. The AK is much closer to the M1 Garand, as it’s a two-lug rotating bolt.

The only thing I found unsatisfactory was the trigger pull. Everything else was phenomenal, but try pulling the trigger to "the wall" as soon as you feel the resistance tighten up, hold, exhale, at the end of your breathe squeeze and break the shot. The less time the trigger has to travel from the moment you decide to fire, the more accurate you will be, and you're already pretty dang goood

Did you know the creator of this gun was named "Yisrael Balashnikov" and some Israelis actually wanted to name their new weapon the Balashnikov but then they realized it sounded too much like Kalashnikov so he ended up changing his name to "Yisrael Galili".
My dad was a Portuguese paratrooper and this was his issued rifle. Whenever I ask him about it he just says two things: 1 - All you had to do to dissassemble it was take off the top part, flip it and shake it good. 2 - It could open bottles. :D
Wish I could get solid reviews on the Galil clones I keep seeing online. The Galeo and Gallant are both options I see pop up, but for every guy I see who says his is rock solid and unbeatable, I see another who can't go through a full box of quality ammo without a jam.

I carried the South African version during my national service, it was known as the R4 and I loved it.
We found one here in France during a criminal investigation, we shot it in the lab, what a blast, badass rifle

I used this one along with the G3 during my military service in Colombia.
the 2 things i love in the galil the most are the magazines (they are a perfect mix of ak and ar mags) and the charging handle
The Modern service versions (manufactured by INDUMIL in Colombia) had the carrying handle and bipod removed.

I got to know this rifle as the R4 beautiful to fire semi or full auto, it's still our standard assault rifle in South Africa.

Thats a 35 round magazine. With the 50 round magazine attached you can't use the bipod.

You need to "load" the bipod by leaning into it more dude. Really helps with the stability.
