wow thanks so much for this. im a beginner at this medium and i love this blending method i always layer oil pastel because i suck at blending using my fingers or blending stump XD i want to try using a paint thinner and some paint brush. but linseed oil and turpentine are so rare and expensive in my city, any idea if paint thinner is okay? like the ones we mix/use for house paints?
Im having trouble on a picture im working on. I want a real bold look but im seeing whites and the texture of my paper and i want a bold look How can i fix that?
+OXI CLEAN if you are seeing paper through the pastels, apply more layers of pastel and don’t blend the pastels with your fingers. Blend as you layer by overlapping colors using a circular motion and see if this helps!
hi, im a begginer and i have the pentell set, and i want to try another brand now they are almost over, is this brand better or same quality as pentel?
I prefer this brand (Sakura Cray-pas). Even their junior artist sets are good (which is what I’m using here). They have higher quality sets as well like their Expressionist line.
I want to watch your video because I am sure it has great content, but the music you have kind of drowns out and distracts what you are saying. (its a very overused piece of music too). :) Sorry..
I can tell that you're a great teacher, you explain so well!!
Thank so much for this kind complement!
You're a great teacher, ma'am! Thank you for the advice, I really need this because I have to prepare for tomorrow's art session.
+Lil Lost Kid thank you so much!
Good tips! I used a gum shaper brush for blending colors.
Thanks and great idea!
Wow, it looks amazing, thank you for the great techniques!
Thanks!
aahh!! Thank you so much for posting this! this was so, super helpful!!!
Happy to help!
This is great practice! Really helpful for a beginner like myself.
I hope you make more oil pastel demos :)
Thank you so much!
It helps to use a paper stump to blend colours.

I’m really not sure, I’ve never tried that!
You have an option of using different dry oils. I use walnut oil but there are other types.

Alternately you can use a tinted paper.
When we blend larger areas not the overlapping area, should we blend with our fingers in a circular motion or which direction motion should it be
I don’t like blending oil pastels with fingers in general. I prefer to layer and build up the pastels, even in larger areas!
@@BethanyThiele thanks. I'm new to oil pastels and is it true that we need to add more layers or different shades to create realism?

0:01 is that the eye of Mordor?
wow!!! great insights to using oil pastels!! do you use soft pastels or conte?
+becky quick thanks! I wouldn’t say they are either. They are entry level/beginner oil pastels (Cray-Pas Junior Artist by Sakura).
oil pastels are dark to light, just like regular oils
Super center I think
1:17 - i m sorry but that is not true, you can work from dark to light with proper technique and proper layering

Appreciate the feedback
Kinda fast but I guess I'll try :/
I like it cause we have the same type of oil pastel, mungyo oil pastel is overrated-_-
