In the person that makes those statements are usually a psychological bully, they have a tendency to not only irritate you by making those one word phrases but they tend to steal your energy and then have a group of people around them that are stupid Yes Man. Usually it's because that group of people have been talking about you behind your back. If you're ever in this psychological standoff, give a long hard look at the person who's bringing up the questions or bringing up these particular subjects that cause you to somehow always be on the defense. And that person is the culprit.
I get treated like that by a coworker. It’s an absolutely spot on impression. I avoid this person like the flu virus. A, A, AAATT… ALL cost! He’s always the loudest one in the room and when he cracks a joke he makes sure to look around for the reaction from everyone….
At least then, it’s not always inherently malicious, I think it’s just a case of not being emotionally intelligent enough to handle the information lobbed your way. People ain’t perfect, so finding the way to word something on the spot can be hard. I think it’s moreso just important to vocalize that honestly, but I get filler words are a thing. But there’s no way you can crack that smile, turn away and deflect and say “anyways...” with a smug grin and not have malicious intent, especially when it’s common thing you do isolate a mf. Last year a friend randomly told me that a somewhat friend acquaintance we knew went to jail for doing some HORRIBLE stuff; and in the heat of the shock and confusion setting in, i inappropriately quoted shriek and said “better out than in i always say” (which was just a filler phrase I blurted out all the time in general) It got a laugh out of him, but obviously I wasn’t inherently trying to joke, defend or deflect. That guy turned out to be a messed up dude and I IMMEDIATELY clarified why I said that and was honest with the fact that it I’m just shocked and receiving all that news so suddenly” Obviously quoting shrek isn’t the right thing to say, but how would YOU take hearing someone you were friends with turned out to be a monster out of the blue? Humans are imperfect, I just think it’s important to accept and communicate that when talking to someone. Honesty goes a long way, and people will be more willing to forgive you for it.

@@vb8428 The claim of "overrated," is vague. It is a way to slowly dip your oars in when reversing course. As if you have been going along with the crowd for to long and you need to declare that you have a countervailing view. This character was fighting for a hearing before he could even raise a salient point. He does not have a right to be heard and knows that in order to be heard he must overcome the superficial.
I hope he would have something with which to back his claim.

... WOW.
And that person is the culprit.
yep..usually the work of a narcissist that NEEDS to de-power you. They don't like healthy self esteemed people around.
Definitely not your friends if they are doing this

Someone’s been bullied in school

Peele really is so good at being hated.
I get treated like that by a coworker. It’s an absolutely spot on impression. I avoid this person like the flu virus. A, A, AAATT… ALL cost! He’s always the loudest one in the room and when he cracks a joke he makes sure to look around for the reaction from everyone….
I've watched this like 10 times. Love Jordan's faces and post eye brow movements ahahah
I love how peels can do full scratches without saying anything but still says so much.

this is the same energy as people that just say "oof" after you open up about your stresses in life
You must be opening up to people who don't care about you.
Last year a friend randomly told me that a somewhat friend acquaintance we knew went to jail for doing some HORRIBLE stuff; and in the heat of the shock and confusion setting in, i inappropriately quoted shriek and said “better out than in i always say” (which was just a filler phrase I blurted out all the time in general)
It got a laugh out of him, but obviously I wasn’t inherently trying to joke, defend or deflect. That guy turned out to be a messed up dude and I IMMEDIATELY clarified why I said that and was honest with the fact that it I’m just shocked and receiving all that news so suddenly”
Obviously quoting shrek isn’t the right thing to say, but how would YOU take hearing someone you were friends with turned out to be a monster out of the blue?
Humans are imperfect, I just think it’s important to accept and communicate that when talking to someone. Honesty goes a long way, and people will be more willing to forgive you for it.

Peele so dead behind those eyes i love it 🤣
The skits these two put together are are comic genius
I think the toxic part of Peele's character is not that he's trying to change the conversation in a horrible way but he's relying on his two friends to do it. His two friends are laughing in a form of agreement.
