bouldering is so badass. I'm so bad at it, but it amazes when I look at some of them thinking to myself "no way anyone can climb that" and then people do.
Finally got dragged to a bouldering gym. Immediately blown away watching these guys throwing themselves at crazy angles, the catches, insane holds, then just silently dropping, onto the next one. I got a membership.
The big foot on the second hold wasn’t only terrible in itself, the route setters rotated it so that the slippery logo on it was exactly where you wanted to put your foot. That’s just cruel
Can someone explain, why is Yoshiyuki Ogata third and not second, if he was first in the semis, and they have the same score with Dohyun Lee (on the same boulders even!)?
In bouldering you do not wear a harness. You would need one for any other kind of climbing though, unless the whole route is a super low, long roof. In sport climbing you would never see that though lol.
Actually it’s the opposite, the rubber bottoms allow your foot to mold to the shape of a hold, increasing the amount of contact and friction you have with the foothold, giving you a better purchase 👍
If you look up slab climbing on RUclips you might find some similar ones. I've seen those large sphere volumes on a lot of technical slabs. Someone like Pete Whittaker could probably do that, even though he doesn't do bouldering often he is insane on technical problems. I think this lineup was just really not the one for that problem, all of them were quite powerful and strong in campusing, obviously their footwork was still incredible, I'd even say they could all probably do that problem if they weren't in comp, like if they had a whole session for it instead of five minutes lol. There was this crazy route in one of Magnus Midtbo's climbing every boulder in the gym videos that had a sphere volume you had to do a handstand on. That was pretty neat. It was a slab of the week.

Interesting sport, very quick matches…quite ironic bc I know they have to train an insane amount of hours just to do super short courses. I would like it more if the climbs were higher and yes I know there are ones that are speed rounds and they try to climb a high course as fast as possible l. But what I want is maybe a more difficult climb that is tall and takes longer
Honestly, at this point the only way we could make this sport harder is if we just made them climb a smooth 90 degree wall.
they'd still do it XD
@@Borinme35 Start vertically inclining it until it's just the ceiling and the climbers are just levitating.
u will need to climb bare foot so u can add chalk to ur feet and hands.

the sheer strength of these people is absolutely mind blowing

@@alfhosskin2841 Second wall, the one he is standing on at 9:21
I wonder if that was intended with the logo as it definitely made the course harder
cruel?
Intentional for sure. They must test the courses and notice that move becomes way more difficult with that slippery spot.

if they are tied in tops, zones and attempts its probably about how long they took to finish

The height of the routes is not so high that you get injured if you fall

Yeah its like trying to move an eraser that touches the table with the entire face. Friction won't let it move easily even though it is smooth
any video of someone completing that second course? or do they do a different setup every competition?
At every City there are completly new set of routes. You will probably never see the same route again at any comp
