The whole debate about killing criminals between frank and matt is one of my favorite dialogue in any show or movie. Simply because of how real it felt. One kept raising his voice and both kept interrupting each other and talking over each other. Amazing performance by both actors
You could truly hear the passion in their voices when expressing their world views. Really felt like they are real people, real vigilantes in our world arguing.

I like how they wrote it, with Matt straw-manning Punisher's argument and position, belittling him as evil and crazy while acting like his way was the only decent way, etc. It's how a conversation like that would really go.
@@Zso-VIII Exactly. Both sides just didn’t wanna admit that both had valid points. Punisher denying that there is no redemption for criminals is just how someone strong minded would be like.
@@DanielGonzalez-xu1hi You see this argument all the time when a show decides to do a vigilante story, but usually the writers fall back on some lame tripe like "if we kill him we'll be no better than him" or some other Scooby Doo level BS. Frank and Matt have brutal arguments to support their position, but ultimately neither one is open to moving their position. Matt's respect for human life and the potential imbued in each person is the core of who he is. Frank's rage and loss is equally his foundation. Asking either to change is like asking a fish to fly. I really hope the new show's writing comes close to this level.
The thing about the revolver was that the punisher only put in 1 bullet to try force daredevil to kill, but he used it to escape instead. Since he couldn't drop anything at that point, he used the gun to make the gang think he had a loaded gun. I love his laugh when he reveals that it was empty the whole time.
This was good and better overall in the show I think to stay true to Matt's character. In the comics almost this exact scene played out, only DD actually pulled the trigger to kill Frank and the gun was never loaded. One of those "crisis" events Marvel put his character through.

Every time I rewatch this season, that line gives me all of the chills. Jon Bernthal is absolutely incredible as Frank Castle. Very much hope you watch The Punisher after you’re done with Daredevil. Love the reactions!!!
For the record, you don’t HAVE TO watch the others shows. In between Seasons 2 and 3 is the Defender show, which is basically just Daredevil Season 2.5. It doesn’t take much from the other 3 shows.

Daredevil Season 3 is on a Godfather/Dark Knight/Shawshank Redemption level.
Season 3 is slightly better than S1 tbh by a marginal difference, but if i had to pick a favourite it definitely is S3
@@akmalrusydi2730 Season 1 is a great origin story but the climax is a bit formulaic and quite frankly the costume is a let down. Season 3 maintains the same intricacy but adds more adversity and strips everything away from the character, making the final pay off more impactful.

S1 was slow at times - it had to establish all the connections, lots of flashbacks, origin stories etc. S3 already plays off on all the relationships and doesnt waste time to establish anything and can immedieately go into the good stuff and developing story of the season. There are basically NO SUBPLOTS. Everything in S3 goes from one point, establishes high stakes and it all culiminates in one fantastic finale. Its miles better in my opinion. Apart from that one Karen episode I dont feel any filler in S3. It can be watched as a standalone great thriller 'movie'. I still like S1, but I only watched it twice and it can be boring at times, even though I love it. S3? Its only good stuff.
@@kptmaci4979 Karens episode is important so you can understand the deeply troubled person hiding in plain sight. She was haunted by her past and it follows her everywhere. I don’t see it as “filler.”
The conversation between Punisher and Daredevil in the cemetery is the best scene in all of these Marvel Netflix series
It's funny how Daredevil S2 dropped like a week before BvS and we expected to get something similar from that scene in that movie but we didn't LOL
@@KaladinD That movie was a convoluted mess that rushed both Batman & Wonder Woman’s introduction to the DCEU, forced a BvS fight immediately, & then shoehorned in the Death of Superman.
The Dark Knight Returns - Part 2 animated film & the Injustice game is still my favorite media adaptation of the BvS rivalry. Their stories really put the live-action version to shame.
So glad that she is continuing this series.
One thing that seems to be missed a lot is that Frank is not a psychopath insofar as random violence. He has specific targets, and he works hard t make sure they're the only ones that get hurt. In the hospital in episode 1, he caused a panic by shooting up the place, while never hitting anyone. That wasn't just "bad luck" for him. He wanted everyone to run away so he could get to the roof and use a sniper shot to kill Grotto.
The next episode, episode 4, has what I personally feel is one of the best-acted, best-written, most heartbreaking monologues ever committed to film/digital.

Season 3 is honestly some of the best TV out there and you can totally just go in after this season not much missed.
I wouldn’t say you can in totally blind. The beginning won’t really make any sense. But a 10 minute recap of the defenders on RUclips goes a long way haha

I think Jon Bernthal was perfect casting for Punisher. That rooftop scene was amazing mostly because it was very dialogue driven. It’s interesting to see two sides of the same coin engaging in conversation. Can’t wait for part 2!
The Punisher show is incredible! If you like Daredevil you will also love The Punisher, and it's (sadly) only 2 seasons.
Hey Nat, I’m really happy you’re continuing this series. I just want to say you shouldn’t feel like you have to watch other shows before watching season 3. You might miss out on some events, it’s true, but I think it would be a shame to miss the end of Daredevil because you feel like you have to watch Luke Cage, Iron Fist and the Defenders first. S3 of Daredevil is pretty great, and even with missing a couple things I think you’d appreciate it. Just my two cents! Hope you have a great day
This exactly. You could absolutely skip the other shows and not miss out on much at all. You might be a little confused at the start of season 3. But the show is really well written that the whole basis isn’t built on what happened in other shows but the consequences of what happened in Daredevil alone.
Yup. Very much so. Event of other shows or even Defenders are barely referenced. The only major jump is start of the show, but you dont need to know the details - Daredevil got beaten hard and was presumed dead - is all you need to know. The rest of the S3 plays like a great standalone movie thriller. No other knowledge apart from S1 and S2 (which only help understand relationships between characters more) of Daredevil required to understand literally all of it.

I absolutely hate reaction channels like this that watch things in "parts" instead of episodes. All it means is pretty much every episode will have 95% of it cut out

For example episode 3 in this video has barely any footage, but if you search for other reactions on youtube you will find plenty of reaction videos to the same episode that show way more.

@@eltioed5149 There's a difference between doing it for charity and making your YT content poor on purpose so people are pretty much forced to pay for it. There's plenty of channels that upload good YT cuts that are also successful on patreon. It doesn't have to be one or the other. Just giving honest feedback, I'll stick to channels that put better content on youtube.

Daredevil is absolutely my favourite "super-" character of all time, but I have to say I think "the boys" beats this show when it comes to superhero tv,
(imo obviously) that show just constantly drags me in.

While S1 is basically introducing Daredevil and building him up and characters around him, the whole S3 plays like a great thriller that you can watch as a standalone Daredevil 'movie', that doesnt build, but perfectly plays off already established relationships, hence its that much more tense and doesnt waste time on hundred origin stories of everybody. There is sideplot of Karen for one ep, but thats it. S3 is the high note that Daredevil ended on. I hope they continue Bullseye character in his next series.
Punisher's arc is the best thing that ever happened in this series.

The Punisher was done so well by the legend that is Jon Bernthal. Hands done my favorite of the "series characters"
I DEFINITELY, ABSOLUTELY, TOTALLY recommend The Punisher tv show.
In ny opinion, between Season 2 and 3 you don't have to watch the others shows suggested (Iron Fist, Luke Cage, or Jessica Jones). However I would highly reccomend watching a video recap of the Defenders show because the actions that take place apply to the status of Daredevil's character in season 3.
Hey Nat. Don't feel trapped you really don't have to do all the shows. Just do the third season of Daredevil if you enjoy this one. Continuity is something one can be strict about. But... How many people got into Daredevil after seeing Matt somewhere else (so not to spoil where I'll keep it vague ^^). Are they all doomed because they now know stuff before starting at the beginning? It's stupid. Just do what you think you'll enjoy. You should watch a highlight reel of The Defenders though if you don't want to watch it here/by yourself so you know what's going on at the start of Daredevil season 3. Or just know you missed something and let the comments tell you about it.
Other than that it's not necessary to watch the rest if you aren't interested in the other shows. Some people will be mad but a lot of people will be glad you watched this great show because it's really freaking great.
There's no fun in forcefully watching something just for continuities sake. You gotta live with a few references you won't get. But it's not that much I think.
The Punisher I highly recommend watching though if you enjoy Frank in this show. You can do this afterwards or in five years doesn't matter. It's just a good show.
Oh btw I know it's possible to watch it all in a scrambled order because I did. Didn't know anything about Marvel back then. Only new Spider Man but didn't know it belonged to a whole universe. Punisher I always thought was something completely different and definitely not comic realated. Only knew the skull print from a tshirt of a guy I dated lol. Frank is one of my favorites now and has been for years. So is Matt.
Back then I didn't know much about Marvel, Star Wars and the likes and wasn't such a nerd as I'm now haha. Love how mich more I enjoy movies and shows for the last five years or so.

After you watch daredevil s2 you don’t have to watch the other shows but you do have to watch defenders- which is dd, Jessica, luke cage and iron fist- as dd s3 is based around defenders!
Agreed, s3 is set up by defenders, if you don't want to commit to all the other shows (though they are mostly worth the watch) than just a basic understanding of each character plus a watch through of DD s1 & s2, and JJ s1 is enough imo. I didn't watch Luke Cage or Iron Fist before defenders, but I was familiar with the characters.

DD is one of my favorite Marvel Heroes especially when Frank Miller was writing him.
I don't trust Disney/current year Marvel Studios not to fumble the ball. I can think of maybe two or three scenes in the entirety of Phase 4 that's even in the ballpark of Daredevil's writing quality, and they've given me no reason to believe that their CW melodrama tier wrt8ers will be up to the task. No matter what happens with Born Again, they can never take away those three dang near perfect seasons of television (and Defenders) that we got from Daredevil.
Please continue with the punisher at least! Such a fantastic show and Jon Beranthal kills it as the punisher!

Nat, the Punisher's "symbol" is an eerie looking skull. That ending shot is both alluding to it and that he's had serious medical trauma in the past.

To see DAREDEVIL S3 you don't need to see any other series, practically everything is perfectly understood.

I've watched all three seasons of Daredevil twice without ever watching a single episode of the other shows and I never felt lost or like I missed out. Granted, I'm sure there's things I did miss by not having the context of the other shows, but this one absolutely stands on its own enough that if you don't want to watch the others you don't have to.
I remember seeing Punisher for the first time on a comic cover in a comic shop. That skull shirt was ironic, never forget it.

PPLEEEEAAAASSSEEE watch The Marvel's Punisher show, it is intense and psychological with fantastic performances from Jon Bernthal. The side characters also surprised me with how realistic they are!
Punisher explained to Daredevil that there was only one bullet in the gun. Once Daredevil used that one shot to break out of his chains, he knew the gun was empty.
I personally watched Daredevil on it's own, without any other series in-between seasons (excluding a recap/skim through of Defenders before S3). I don't believe you should be pressured into watching 30 other things with this :)

Unless you’re just not enjoying them you should at-least consider keeping the rest of the series as an option to vote on for content. Take breaks when needed. These are great shows to have on the back burner that people will tune in to watch along.

I think you shouldn't feel obligated to watch all the Netflix shows if you don't want to. Daredevil & Punisher are the only ones worth watching anyway. But, it would be worth it to watch Defenders between this season & season 3, I guess. It wouldn't be the end of the world if you skipped that as well. Definitely Daredevil & Punisher though 😊🤘
OH Natalie, you've got to do the Punisher series too. It really is quite good. Bernthals depiction of The Punisher is right on par with Charlies' depiction of Daredevil, 2 of my favorite Marvel characters growing up in the 80's and 90's and both of these gentlemen did fantastic jobs on their respective roles.

You don't necessarily have to watch every show, but it completes a whole storyline as far as DD is concerned. DD s1,s2 then defenders then DDs3. So for this show specifically those 4 go together. Btw The Punisher is a fantastic stand alone show!

All in all you can skip pretty much everything if you feel overwhelmed.... I would highly advise watching The Defenders between S2 and S3... and other than that I would say watch as much as you are excited to watch.... but nothing else is 'necessary'.
You don't really have to watch jessica jones, Luke Cage or Ironfist if you don't want to. You do need to watch the Defenders after season 2 of Daredevil, but it's only 8 episodes.

That rooftop scene was way different in the comics but it also wasn't in any Daredevil comics. It's from a Punisher comic written by Garth Ennis (author of a little comic called "The Boys") who pretty much hated super heroes at the time and naturally did not make DD look very good. In the comics DD pulls the trigger but the gun is empty. Punisher kills his target and mocks DD for A. believing he was stupid enough to put a loaded gun into his hands and B. for betraying his precious principals and actually pulling the trigger.

when they zoom in on Frank's xray at the end of the ep the point was to show his skull. Punisher's symbol is a stylized skull so they're introducing it into the show.
