As hit or miss as the X-men franchise is, this movie is a freaking masterpiece.
Really? I know a lot people loved this movie but to me it was boring and uninteresting and only watched it cause I wanted to see what was so interesting. Why do you think it’s masterpiece?
I’ll never forget seeing it for the first time. It was the first portrayal that legit reminded me of reading wolverine comics back in the day. *Edit* boring and uninteresting? Jesus I realize art is subjective but geez.😳
@@qs4177 The performances, the tone, the music, the cinematography, etc. I also love the way this film homages classic westerns. The speech from the film Shane at the end gets me every time. I also find the action in this film much more intense and more thrilling than most modern blockbusters personally. I'm not saying the script is one of the best ever written or anything like that, but I think it was executed perfectly. Obviously growing up with the X-men movies meant I already had investment going into it, but the performances are what make the movie exceptional to me. Hugh Jackman's performance during Charles' funeral is so raw and honest. Also the scene where Charles dies, when he's in the truck, looking up at the stars, and in a daze he says "I'm on the boat, the sunseaker" moments like that are what make the movie for me, more than just the violence. I also love how subtle the movie is in its world building. It doesn't spell out the Charles is the one who accidentally killed the X-men, but you get enough context clues to figure out what happened. I just find this film really poetic and tragic and bittersweet.
The franchise needed to end with this movie. Anything afterward was meaningless.
Between this and the first Wolverine, X-Men has produced THE best and THE worst superhero movies ever made
When Logan says, "So, this is what it feels like." I was never sure if he was referring to dying, or to being a father. Love this movie!

@@sagarbala4913 - Yeah, the first time I saw it, I just assumed he was referring to dying, because he'd never been able to die until now. But the second time around, I realized he was probably referring to Charles' showing him that brief glimpse of normal family life. He realized at the very end of this film what true immortality felt like... having a child to remember you and carry on your family line.
“I saw you die with your own heart in your hands” - Yukio in the Wolverine, made true by Laura holding Logan’s hand as he passed. And I love the line “So this is what it feels like”, not only talking about what death feels like, but also what it’s like to have a family. Also the way he delivers it, like Logan welcomes death with open arms, because his endless life has been so exhausting. It’s a shame Hugh and Patrick are no longer playing this characters, but it’s wonderful that they retired their characters together, in a movie as good as this. Good luck recasting Wolverine Marvel, because Hugh Jackman IS Wolverine.

RDJ IS Tony Stark, too. It's unfortunate that actors that so wonderfully play these characters never get to play off each other. Though Ryan Reynolds has said many times he wants to get Hugh to do at least ONE Deadpool cameo, so we might get him back, even for a bit part.
not gonna lie, if ''New Mutants'' had been good (because there you had famous characters and a estelar cast) they could've have picked up from here (the end of Logan) and I wouldn't care
the fact that they even incorporated the idea that other ''x-men media'' exist in universe, except as a glowy retelling of some real things would work as an element to both introduce the franchise into the MCU and keep the other movies as ''canon'', it's literally an out that allows them to have their cake and eat it too
I wouldn't mind following Laura and her gang meeting up with the new mutants, learning by themselves to master their powers - like, we had more than enough years with THE status quo of X-Men, I would welcome gracefully something new on the big screen
but people want to see their favorite characters in the MCU I guess... so I'm definitely in the minority

You're so right, that scene after Logan buries Charles body just destroys me. He's just so broken, all he can mumble out is that its got water... some small way to connect to what he wanted for them, a boat, the Sunseeker, where they could live out their days together, free from persecution, or drugs, or being hunted. A peaceful ending. This is the best he can do... its got water.

also, on the water, charles wouldn't be able to hurt anyone with his seizures.
His eulogy that he can't even get out is one of the most moving speeches I've ever seen. I was a wreck
A few things that are buried in the story and easy to miss:
1. A genetic alteration to corn products targeted mutants and ended up preventing new mutants from being born.
2. Logan's adamantium has been poisoning him for years, slowing down his healing factor.
3. Charles had an episode at the mansion which resulted in the death of various residents (never confirmed who), probably a mix of students and other Xmen.

Also its implied that the anti-mutagen in the corn products affected Logan's healing factor leading to the adamantium poisoning.

I think that adamantium was never harmful, a noble indestructible metal has no (logical) reason to exude or release itself into an organism, biostable like gold or good titanium. The years of corn antimutagen are to blame
And we saw Logan's skeleton withstand Jean's desintegration blasts, on screen, so being inside a body is like nothing

It’s crazy how you can’t tell if he meant “This is what dying feels like.” Or “This is what being a father feels like.” Probably the first but you can imagine either or given Logan’s arc in this movie.
It's Laura's "Daddy" that gets me.
I kid you not, this film gave me an uncomfortable awareness of my mortality. The day I saw it, I actually called some friends who I hadn’t spoken to in a while, and told them I loved them.
That’s how much this film moved me.

@@udalix I don't mean to speak for MrMarsFargo, but I have a feeling it has something to do with Logan's conceptual immortality being torn down in this movie. Everyone knows the Wolverine to be unkillable, we always expect Logan to get back up no matter the beating he takes. So to see a man of immeasurable strength, power, and durability be reduced to a sick, weak, dying old man hits hard. To see Logan, a man who should hypothetically have no end, grow old and die is very powerful story telling.
Logan's last words are so perfect. "So this is what it feels like." We can interpret that to be in reference to what Charles said earlier in the film "This is what it feels like Logan, to have a family." or we can take it more literally. He's been alive for hundreds of years, he's probably wondered what actually dying feels like, and now he knows.
In "The Wolverine", Logan was told he would die with his heart in his hand, which in that movie made you think it was to do with the thing inhibiting his powers but was in fact Laura being there at the end of the movie.

The emotion in Hugh Jackman and Patrick Stewart's performances was real because they said that they knew this was the last time they would ever play these characters so every smile and every tear was 100% genuine

yes of course they were bummed they wouldn't get to make another one, but if the performances were better than other movies it's because the writing is better

An absolute masterpiece of a movie - a perfect script, masterful direction, and everyone acts their socks off, especially Dafne Keen who is an absolute revelation.
This was only her second acting credit, too.

I loved this film, I teared up a lot, but her Laura saying "Daddy" at the end, broke me down.
Laura’s “Daddy” at the end of the film is just the definition of amazing acting. One word that drop kicks my heart and wrenches tears from my eyes every time.
The crazy part is how at that age, Daphne Keen added so much improv to her performance. The spanish wasn't in the script, it was part of her audition and the directors were blown away

I remember so well when this movie came out. The trailer with Johny Cash's legendary "Hurt" playing in the background. It was so fitting and it set the tone so well. All X-Men and Wolverine fans more or less knew what we were getting into. This movie was such a powerful emotional ride. I really don't think I have enjoyed many serious, dark, gritty movies as much as this one. They are rare in Hollywood and they are extremely hard to pull off which is why I especially appreciate those few that are good and are able to pull on your heartstrings. Logan was such a painfully bittersweet goodbye to Hugh Jackman's wolverine and Patrick Stewart's Charles Xavier. It really hit everyone in the feels. Love Logan ❤

I feel like the best superhero movie decision I ever made was not watching a single trailer for this movie. I love most of the X-Men movies, but Logan was coming out right around a time where I was getting burnt out of superhero movies, so I wasn’t interested in ANY of them, then one night my buddy (ironically named Logan) asked if I’d like to go see it, and I thought “why not, I’ve got nothing better to do”. Going into that movie blind was incredible, one of my favourite theatre experiences ever.
Logan is still my favorite Super Hero movie from all times. X-men cartoons and the early X-men movie bring so much nostalgia for me. This movie was a perfect send off to my beloved characters. I must be the only person in the world who doesnt want Jackmann to come back as Wolverine just because Logan wrapped up so perfectly.
@@TaintedPrinceps I loved the character portrait reveals that they ran on Twitter. Fans immediately picked up on the fact that they were being released at precisely 10:23am each day. Such an odd time, right? Usually you'd see something like that right on the hour, or half past. But why so specifically at 10:23? And with each portrait being released at that exact same time it was very clear there was a pattern, and that started fueling the speculation as it kept being hammered home.
And then the last portrait was revealed with a simple caption: LAURA.
X-23 fans exploded.
Mangold afterwards confirmed that the timing was indeed a deliberate hint. That was VERY clever.
One of my favorite small details in this film. Through out the film his just called Logan by every one or James. But after you hear Logan's berserker yell and him going on his last berserk rage. You hear a hunter call out in fear "It's the Wolverine!" its just a small detail I love. They know this isn't just a old mutant coming after them. But that this is the legendary Wolverine bearing down on them!
I remember reading a review of this movie and they summed it up so well when referencing Hugh Jackman. "He was, he is, and always will be, The Wolverine."
Logan’s first instinct when the family invited them to dinner was to say “No.” He knew the risk they brought with them. But he couldn’t say no to Charles. Logan ached for some sense of normalcy too. A rest, in a peaceful setting, was something they all needed, psychologically. But his instinct was right. As it usually is.
I was surprised Charles would even make that call. Especially with how guilty he too must have felt after his seizures injured or killed so many. Even if he wasn't aware of the danger, which he no doubt was, he also had to be worried his seizures might affect the family.
But I guess they needed it too much to not risk it. He must have really wanted Logan to remember what a normal family life could be like. Not that it did much good for Logan, since he passed long before he could have anything like that. Probably helped Laura, though.
@@Lucifronz it was definitely meant for Laura. Charles knew he was going to die, and he knew Logan was in the process of dying. Laura is their future and he wanted to make sure she had at least one chance to see a normal family

This line comes from an earlier iteration: The Wolverine. Yukio: "I see you on your back, there's blood everywhere. You're holding your own heart in your hand." Now look at that scene with Laura again and think about what she said about Logan's death.

This movie is an absolute masterpiece. Without question the best comic book movie to have come from the Big Two publishers. It got SCREWED by the Academy.

This was a perfect sort of good bye movie for Hugh Jackman. The one and only. He is and will forever be the Wolverine.

This is the Wolverine movie Hugh always wanted to make, and it shows. And as weird as it may sound, Logan and Deadpool are great complementary X-movies - beyond the R-rating - because unlike almost all the rest of the films in the series, at their core they really GET these characters. Tonally they couldn't be more different, but in each case the actor and their creative teams got to bring forward the character's real essence from the comics and what has made them important to fans over the years. (A long, looong way from Origins for both of them...)
Patrick Stewart said he wasn't sure if this would be his last X-Men movie while filming, but when watching the premiere sitting next to Hugh Jackman, they ended up holding hands through the final scenes and both started crying when Laura turned the sticks to make the X, and they knew this was it for both of them. Couldn't imagine a better way of sending them off.
That’s awesome, man when I think back on X-men, I really think Hugh Jackman, Ian Mckellen, and Patrick Stewart. The three of them were the heart and soul of the X-men franchise.
This is what makes me skeptical about the Multiverse of Madness rumors, they had great sendoffs and I'd really hate their last time playing the characters to be some cheap cameos, if they are in it I'd hope they'd have bigger roles and not necessarily be the same characters from the movies we know, then again while Logan and Charles had great sendoffs the X-Men themselves got off screen deaths which is kinda lame, wouldn't mind seeing them back.
Hugh said the only reason to play Wolverine anymore was if he is added to MCU.
Fun fact: When shooting the forest fight scene, Dafne Keen was having so much fun that she started grinning and giggling as she was slashing people and forgot to stick to the choreography. Hugh Jackman was even having a cuteness overload watching this and couldn't help but hug Dafne.
Also, I hope you remembered how Logan's death was foreshadowed in The Wolverine. Yukio said that Logan would die on his back holding his heart in his hand. His heart is Laura.
That bit where she's yelling at him in Spanish in the car is also ad lib on her part. I don't think she spoke much English at the time, either.
So she looked like a psychopath, nice. Haha
The food production is part of why logan is weaker. They put a genetic suppressant into the food which is why no new mutants. And why the companies were pushing for a take over of the natural grown farm.
I know that's a interpretation of what Yukio said, but he dies in The Wolverine while taking the thing of his heart, that's what she was referring

the movie really walks into the realm of PTSD and show cases a struggle from someone who has seen way too much . It has a lot of things to think about beyond the film and xmen but just the connections to everyday life for so many. This 1 def hits hard and will go down as prolly the best 1 out of any of the 1's hes done.
Logan is my favorite XMEN movie. And in case no one else has mentioned it, Hugh Jackman (from what I remember) did what he could to insist that, if he played this character one more time, it had to be a more serious and substantial movie--which this was. (Also, his healing was overwhelmed by adamantium poisoning, so that he was slowly dying throughout the movie.)

Not gonna lie, I was a mess in the theaters when I saw this. I remember watching the first X-Men when it first came out as a teenager and it's been just a ride watching all the high and lows of this franchise over the years. This was the perfect send off and just transcends its genre.
I remember my favorite scene in this movie was the one where Laura and Logan are sitting in the truck, and she starts punching him out of anger. Violence is the only way she's ever learned to solve her problems. Violence is the only way Wolverine has ever known to solve his problems. But now he's forced to teach her a lesson that he never really got. And all he could do was say "don't hit me!" This was a great movie.
This was such an emotional roller coaster at the cinema. My girlfriend, who had never seen an X-Men movie prior, was absolutely bawling her eyes out by the credits. It hits hard! You don’t need any prior knowledge going in, but boy does it hit hard if you do.
Why didn’t you show her other X-men movies prior to this one?

Natalie, I have a series suggestion for you: *The Expanse*
It's got space, action, political intrigue, world-building, drama, humor, romance and sci fi. One of the really great things about this show is that the sci fi, political intrigue and social issues it touches on are so very relatable. I especially like how the show doesn't over-exaggerate the wonders of future technology (like Star Trek) but portrays it in a more realistic way. I think you'll enjoy it very much.

His last line gets me in the feels. When he says "So this is what it feels like" he's simultaneously talking about finally dying after centuries of living and seeing all his friends and loved ones die but also of how at the end he finally has that 'life' as Charles put it.
sometimes i think he could also be talking about like, everyone he cared about he failed to protect, but he succeeded in protecting laura.
When he tried to make sure Charles knew that he didn’t hurt him, it got me in all the feels. Like he couldn’t live thinking that was the last thing Prof X believed.
I can not express appropriately how happy I am that you watched these movies in order to get to this point. You really spent the time and stayed on the roller coaster of cheesy acting and scripts and serious attempts to bring you to the point to be able to be emotionally vulnerable for a movie like this. Thank you for sharing that vulnerability with everyone on patreon and youtube
This has been my go-to movie whenever I feel myself needing a cry. Everyone's respective performances are just so *good*, especially near the end of the movie, that it happens for me every time I watch this. That is also the reason why I watch it much less than any other movie. So I can try and preserve the emotional impact that much more.

And in that moment, Logan knew what it felt like.
Not only to die.
But to feel like a Father.
Also to die knowing he did everything he can to save someone he cares about. He has the ultimate survivors guilt, he seen so many of his friends die and everytime he's thought "why didn't I do more to save them, I should have taken that bullet" and so on but this time he get to go at peace knowing he gave everything and was able to save her and that it was all worth it

The thing that was killing Logan was the adamantium on his skeleton, also it's HEAVILY implied that Xavier killed the X-Men with a seizure which is what he was talking about when he was saying he did something terrible
It was so sad to not have Magneto around anymore, to extract the adamantium from Logan's bones and maybe, bring him back to life.
Exactly, if I recall, that's all but confirmed. My understanding though is that in the comics is was Wolverine being manipulated into seeing his allies as villains? Then he kills them and has to reckon with that? I don't read the Old Man Logan comics.

This movie was the punch in the face we all needed for comic book movies. 10/10, one of the best films I’ve ever seen across all genres, period.
This is the only movie I've watched with my father where I've seen him openly tear up in public... It's devastating.
This is definitely the title I was expecting for this film. (Also, if you ever want to check them out - the visual effects breakdowns from this movie are absolutely incredible).
Oh yeah I remember being blown away by Logan's clone and how his face is entirely CGI.

@@Deckard-ig4qd Yeah, it was barely two years after *Terminator Genisys* did its incredible recreation of younger Arnold Schwarzenegger. These two films were the ones _really_ pushing the boundaries of photorealistic digital doubles being used both up-close and also in scenes with complex camera work, like the fight scenes. *Logan* marked the point where I remember being blown away by how much the effects finally started to become invisible, and how many ways they were able to use them.

Pretty sure that's not it at all. It was the feeling of having a family. Somebody to love him a cry for his passing. Exactly what Charles was talking about when he was laying in bed in that family's house.

@@yisus4681 That's an interpretation that logically follows the narrative, and story telling clearly set up earlier by Charles when he is in bed. The other interpretation is a guess that you can make fit, but wouldn't follow any narrative within the story.
@@KurNorock Considering how frequently the story of not being able to be close to anyone or be able to protect anyone is used for Wolverine, I always thought it was most likely him saying “This is what it feels like to finally protect someone I love.” After losing Charles, losing every X-Man, the Days of Future Past timeline he lived through where Charles and many others died and he had to kill Jean himself, being able to save someone would be an indescribable catharsis.
But, part of the beauty is we never learn what he meant by “it.”
This is one of my favorite comicbook films ever made, but also one of my favorite films. I make sure I watch it once a year (except for 2021, I wanted to see your reaction to it since you were going through the whole franchise).
I'm really glad you liked it. I saw this in theaters a few times and no one moved at the end of the movie. Only thing you could hear were sniffles and sobs. So damn good.
Natalie, Hugh Jackman's contributions (and hesitations) during the development of Logan were absolutely key to its success as a film. (Not talking box office here.) A remarkable movie from a franchise I don't normally care much for. Launching the career of the fantastic Dafne Keen was an added bonus.
Yukio foreshadowed Logan's death in the Wolverine. She said that Logan would die by holding his heart in his hand, and Laura was his heart. Undoubtedly, one of the best movies in recent history. Should have had an Oscar campaign that year.

actually it could be a few hundred even with him being born in thd 1800s. if you take the general context into account. he noted a few of the stories in the comics were real and if so, some of the ones where he is displaced out of time for long long years could be there. it also explains the rapid progression of the ademantium poisoning which didn't happen for a couple hundred years in other comics.
I saw this opening night in a packed theatre. When the movie finished and the title showed, nobody clapped. We all just sat there and cried. After the credits rolled and I left, it truly felt as though I were leaving a funeral.
the scene of the horses loose on the track, with Logan saying "someone will show up, let's go" and Charles replying "someone has already shown up" wow is a beautiful definition of a good deed.

My second favorite superhero film behind only The Dark Knight. It's a film with fantastic acting, wonderful writing, cinematography, directing, and pacing that other films in the genre almost never see. It felt like a neo-Western 75% of the time with how dour everything is and treats its characters with the utmost respect despite seeing them at their most vulnerable. It's hard to think of a superhero film with stakes that feel this personal but they knocked it out of the park and sent Patrick Stewart and Hugh Jackman off on a high note. I'm so glad this film was made.
Stuff like this is what made subscribed. Its nice to know there are people who are showing legit raw emotions.

I've only ever seen my dad crying twice, the first time was when my grandma passed away, teh second time was while watching Logan. This movie is so powerful

James Mangold has confirmed that while he didn't have anything like this film in mind while making The Wolverine, he did deliberately construct Logan's death to match that line.

The little girl’s actress, aka X-23, Dafne Keen, is a wonderful actress! She’s great in the starring role of a show on HBO called His Dark Materials. She’s going to be a huge actress one day for sure!

As a 29 year old man with a daughter, I can confirm that I cry every time I watch this movie. No shame in it. This movie was scientifically engineered to be devastating.

This is the only movie I legit teared up in the theatres watching in the past 20 years or so. If you've seen all the X-Men films before watching this and it doesn't move you, there is literally something wrong with you lol

33:57 that line "so this is what it feels like" - I dunno if I'm reading into it too much, but to me it has a double meaning. The "this is what it feels like to be loved", like the love of a daughter, but then also "this is what it feel like to die" after living a life where so many have died at his hands. I really like the contrast of that one sentence juxtaposing love and death.

While I agree with you, I also must point out that Logan has been loved for a long time by many different people. Truly Professor X loved him, as he loved all of his students. Like a father. Rogue also loved him, as a friend and mentor, as a lover in the comics, and possibly even as a father figure. There's also Kitty Pryde and Jubilee who have at least a fondness for him as a friend and mentor.. Not to mention Yukio, Storm, Dazzler, a dozen others, and Jean Gray who he has had affairs with.
Those, yes. But also he now knows what it is like to have no rage. His character always had that rage he let loose. Laura killed that in him and he finally found peace before he died. I think the movie shows that as X-24 was the physical representation of his rage, and Laura killed it.

I remember watching this when it came out. As a gen z kid being practically the same age as the franchise and growing up with the x men and Wolverine specifically. It made me cry more than anything I'd ever watched. I went to go buy food I really liked after to make me stop crying but I was crying so hard into my burger I couldn't even enjoy it. It's actually so funny and embarrassing to look back and remember acting like that in public but I honestly love that a movie made me feel something so powerfully.

Think I'll have to. A lot of reactors cut out the Shane scene in the hotel, or miss the significance of Laura quoting it at the end. Shane's one of my favorites, and i wish more people saw it before watching Logan to get the full impact of that.

This film, like The Dark Knight, transcends its genre and goes from being a 'great comic book movie' to simply a truly great film.

Give credit to James Mangold and his direction and the perfect balance with Jackman. Logan was just so well done and the perfect ending to a legendary character.
There is no movie in the X Men franchise that I loved more than Logan. Literally broke me in the theater and every time I watch it since. Should have had more nods for awards than it did because I felt it was top shelf.

Now imagine being a ten year old, watching the first X-Men movie when it came out, then watching each sequel as it's been released throughout the years, and to finally see Hugh Jackman put to rest a beloved comic book character you've loved since being a child. The final scene when Laura takes the cross and turns it into an "X" was the death of my childhood and made 28 year old man cry like a child in the theater. Bravo to Mr. Jackman and Sir Stewart.
I was 19 when "X-Men" came out but I might as well have been 10 :) I grew up on the comic and the animated series ... Not ashamed to say I bawled at the ending :( 💔😭😭😭😭😭💪💪💪💪💗💗
Similar story here, except that I'm a bit younger than you so for me it was the end of something that had been around for as long as i could consciously remember.
Logan's eulogy at Charles' grave was the most powerful moment in all the xmen films. logan has never been a sentimental type, so him trying to hold back his tears and failing was pitch perfect acting for the history of the character. charles was his friend and father figure, who was the single constant in the best years of his life, and his death left logan utterly bereft.
it's hard to imagine another actor nailing the subtlety of the moment; both manly and sentimental simultaneously. hugh jackman was a far better actor than we ever deserved to play such a pop culture icon.
Logan is my favorite of the X-Men franchise movies, but I also aware that good chunk of the impact it has on me is due having seen all the previous movies and just getting so invested in characters.
Also I adore Deadpool and while he is connected to the X-men-verse I don't see him as an x-men character since he isn't one in the comics either.
Logan was amazing. Logan always thought himself as weapon and killed so much that he didn't want Laura to be just a weapon. Logan never saw himself as hero...but the kids trimming of the beard, the young boy holding wolverine toy at his grave, and Laura turning his cross to an X meaning he was and X-Men and the children did see him as hero..because he was a hero. He was different than Sabertooth because he valued life. It reminds me of soldiers coming back from war...they had to kill and how do you face your wife and children and not feel horrible inside..Hugh played this role to a tee and the girl who played Laura was amazing too. I balled at the "Daddy" from Laura..wow...just how she delivered it.
Fun Fact: During a Q&A, Director James Mangold was asked if the film was inspired the game The Last of Us. He had admitted he had never heard of it, so he went out and played the game saw the similarities of the game and the film. But now when people ask if he would ever direct The Last of Us, he says he pretty much did with this movie.

When I went to see this in theaters the family sitting next to me had their son with them, probably about 7 years old. I didn't know how dark it was going to be but was still surprised to see that they brought him. And then when the movie was over and I was walking out of the lobby I saw them again and the kid looked like his entire world was destroyed, tears streaming down his cheeks and burying his head into his parents legs. I'll never forget that theater going experience.
omg! There were only adults in the theatre when I went. Wow, I can't imagine showing a 7-year-old this film.

The "X" at the end was what got me, I was holding tight till this moment. I cried so much at the movies, cause I grew up with Hugh's Wolverine, he was my favorite in X-Men. All that just flashed before my eyes. I was so happy he finally got his peace but so sad at the same time. Gosh, what a movie 🥹🥹
I feel like "So this is what it feels like," is interpreted as he finally realising what death feels like. But I also see it as him realizing what it's like to properly love and be loved back.
Also, Yukio's 'prophecy' about Logan's death came true when he held Laura's hand at the end.

Watching this in the theatre was an incredible experience as a comic book fan and as a film fan... Also, the moment she said "Daddy" my heart just broke into a million pieces

I’m new to your channel. I’m loving the raw genuine reactions, the jokes, and how much you understand about all of it. It’s GREAT!! You aren’t a Sensitive Sally, and I saw this movie opening day in the theaters. It was one of the quietest endings to the movies that I’ve ever seen, and I watch an ungodly amount of movies in the theater. I felt like this was a legitimate drama, and it hit home and wasn’t just a “superhero movie”. I teared up and still do when I watch it sometimes. It’s an incredible movie and AMAZING reaction! I promise, we cried, too.
This movie was definitely a fantastic goodbye to Hugh Jackman. He has given us an entire legacy as Wolverine and I don't think there was anyone better suited to the role throughout the years.
Also seeing how the devastating effects of Dementia would affect such a powerful mutant was cool. We can forget that these characters are human at times and grounding his character with a condition that can happen to anyone was effective.
As much as i'd like him to come back as an cameo via multiverse magic in MCU; i don't at the same time, since they ended him, and his character perfectly
A comic book movie like “Logan” is what happens when the director gets full control & the studio doesn’t interfere. Mangold should have been allowed to make the X-Men IP in this fashion. It’s definitely one of the greatest yet.
There's more to it according to Mangold. By making it R-rated, that gave him some of that freedom. The studio would no longer have any notes about how to make it better cater towards children or families, because they were no longer the target audience. That was a smart choice.
On the other hand, R-rated films make 30-40% less money on average. He had to also tell them it'd cost that much less to make, to offset their potential losses.

This movie is just fantastic. It's also devastating. They made a wonderful film. When you compare it to most superhero films, it's head and shoulders above the others.
I never really thought about it, but I since you asked, this may be my favorite of the lot. It's certainly the best story.
Imo this and The Dark Knight are in a league of their own, head and shoulders above the rest (as an artist, for me, into the spiderverse is up there too, but for different reasons)

Natalie, that sunset is what sunsets look like in Texas, in fact the colors are even more variety sometimes. Yuriko's prophecy from The Wolverine came true "You're going to die, covered in blood with your heart in your hand" Laura being Logan's heart. In the comics Wolverine is dying from Adamantium poisoning over time and eventually dies by getting incased in Adamantium. Eventually he escapes with everyone thinking he was dead, he came back younger and stronger and fully healed. His body basically hibernated and came back stronger and with a new power to heat up his claws.
Man, I need to rewatch this film again. Watching Natalie cry had my eyes tear up.

This movie and the character of Laura Kinney mean so much to me in a way I never could have expected... I'm so grateful that this movie was made because it could have so easily gone wrong. If you look in my lap you can actually see a panel with Laura, she's the one on the left side. I don't know if you read comics at all but I highly recommend her books.
It's important to remember that we grew up with these characters. You binged the entire franchise recently and it STILL hit you this hard. So you can only imagine how we felt saying goodbye to both Logan and Tony Stark after alllll these years.
I still remember finding Punisher War Journal issue 7, I was a huge wolverine/ Batman and Joker comics fan. (Daredevil and Iron Man too). But seeing Logan, Dark Knight, as an adult really reminded me of the feel of the comics..., I know a lot of people didn’t like it, but I enjoyed Joker quite a bit too. (It was kinda a theater experience. Not as intense watching it when you can pause).
But those three films are probably my favorite super hero movies. I haven’t see No Way Home yet tho, and to be fair that final third act of Endgame did remind me a lot of the Infinity War comic series.🤷🏻♂️

This movie is honestly a masterpiece. It is not just my favorite Marvel movie. It is my favorite movie period.
