I'm a 30 year old viewer who's watched you for years (in my 20s). There's generally so much fear among young adults about turning 30 like it's this horrible thing. In reality it's one year from 29. It's true that this mentality of not really caring what others think, being content and satisfied with yourself and your life where you're at right now. That is what these young adults afraid of it don't see. It's fear of the unknown, and a lot of ageism especially online reflects this due to this fear of inevitably aging but it's like your 20s but more grounded. More self assured. More content with who you are as a person. To me its an upgrade. Your teens and 20s are a time of figuring out who you are as a person. Your 30s are for living as the person you know you are.

At the age of 12 I would sit in my room reading and or listening to old classical music or some jazz. Sometimes younger people do "older people" shit. Doesn't mean you're old. If it's an old or young person thing that's just a label. Just like saying "this is a thing only boys do" when talking about playing with certain toys or video games. while it is just a label, is there correlation between younger ppl doing something vs older ppl doing something?
for example, older ppl most likely wouldn't play with teddy bears in a way that a 5 y.o. would.
and back to Joey's point, which is that he think he's doing things more often older ppl like to do vs younger ppl do.

So, I have 15 years on you. I'm about to turn 42.
In your 27 years you have built one hell of a life. I can only wish that I had gotten myself together a bit younger.
I mean, I've done some shit. I lived in Okinawa for a year when I was in the Marines. It was one of the best years of my life. Everything kind of fell apart for the next decade or so after that. A lot of it sucked, and I really could have done better. I finally caught a couple of breaks and pulled myself together in my 30s, and now I own a house out in the country, with some land, and a job that I love.
I know that was kind of a ramble, but the point is that you are just kicking ass and I wish that I had had the gumption to pull myself together and live my dreams the way you are.
You and Aki make me happy. Seeing the life you've made together makes me hopeful.
I'm glad that you've made it. Keep it up, and keep doing more awesome shit. It does my heart good.

For anyone feeling similar, or feeling like it’s too late to try something new or you’re late to starting life or you’re getting too old, my advice is to stop and tell yourself, “Ok, I’m not where I want to be at this age, but in 5 years, I can either still be here, or I can be a little closer to where I want to be. Either way, that 5 years is coming.” Not sure if this made any sense, but anyways, great video, love the content dude, and please keep it up!

I also feel old (27) and it started when I turned 25 when I realized I'm halfway through my twenties. When I graduated high school, I did not expect, 10 years later, to still be in college to earn a bachelor's degree. I've changed majors because I wasn't happy and honestly still not really happy but nowhere near as miserable as I was before. I'm about to graduate and while my major isn't my dream job, I just want a job that'll give me a good salary and that I'm competent in. I've barely had any life experiences that I expected to have by now, I feel as though I should've have been in this part of my life in my early twenties. But life moves on and all I can do is move forward by learning how to make myself happy and improve my quality of life. That's the best any of us can do.

I think the knee pain started when I did something silly as a teen. I had been annoying my older brother with repeating or singing something, so he kicked me out of the dining room chair I was in (yes, footed me like a wrestler on the turnbuckles!). It ended up being more hilarious than offensive to me.
However, the sandwich I'd been eating fell to the floor and I had intented to enact the Three Second Rule...but then the dog gobbled it up. I dramatically fell to my knees on the tiled floor and yelled "Nooooooooo!" as our dog Scooby licked his lips and asked for more 🤣
That memory makes it a little easier to deal with the pain on those days and thankfully, they don't hurt every single time it rains.

My BOY Joey, Being old is inevitable, but feeling old is a choice.
Getting old is not about enjoying 'old people things'. Lol. You are still finding the novelty of golf and mahjong exhilarating which is a sign of youth. The feeling of getting old is a 'BEEN THERE DONE THAT' feeling except now it applies to your whole life in general, that's old.
Life feels like it has diminishing returns the older we get because we tend to lose our curiosity and wonder about the world. Some people NEVER feel old despite being in their 70s or 80s because they maintain their sense of curiosity and wonder.
It is not a good thing to feel old. Keep your youth as long as you can not just for your own sake but for the sake of everybody who watches you! You bring a lot of joy to this world (I love your Trashtaste podcast haha).

I think what makes it difficult in my case is that half of my dad’s side of the family (grandfather, aunt, uncle, and my dad himself) never got the chance to make it past 60. Certain life choices that I saw them make, or I’ve made myself, have definitely weighed on my mind. But, it is what it is, and you have to make the most of things.

You are old enough to not have money issues like in your 20s and if you have looked after yourself (exercise and eating properly) you have enough energy to enjoy doing anything. It might be wrong of me but i always assume people complaing about back pain or other general "old people" aches or issues in their late 20s or early 30s havent looked after themselves. Barring people with medical issues of course, if your body sucks 20s-30s that is your own fault. You aren't old. Just lazy. Not you specifically Xando :D just people in general.

I think we should countinue to be independant for the rest of our lives as well, even if other people think it's weird to like the "anime" of the next generation as we get older and develop interests no one understands.

I can't speak for everyone but I shared with some peers that I never thought i'd get to 24. Not in joey's way, but in the darker way. Like that age wasn't real to me. That wasn't a thing i'd be capable of. Now I'm here. Time heals some wounds and just like your homework, real life work gets easier the more you do it.

I can honestly really relate with this video. And I love seeing Joey grow as a person. I started watching his videos when I was 15 bc I had a passion for anime and agreed with a lot of his opinions. Now I'm 24, and I've genuinely enjoyed seeing his content change and develop over the years. I started to personally relate to so much of it. Being in a long distance relationship, moving to a new country, finding new hobbies, talking to your younger sibling and feeling OLD, even if we're not old haha. But anyways, thanks for the journey Joey, I can't wait to see how you and your channel grow in another 9 years

This is the most mentally healthy video I think I've ever seen. You have such a good outlook on life, its good to see someone I grew up watching living a good life

I like your outlook on getting older Joey. See I'm in the opposite pool where, I am the same age as you roughly but I feel like I am not old at all. Like physically I feel old. Which for 26 is awful. But mentally I feel like I'm in my early 20s still. Hell even 19. I honestly consider that a bad thing tho because it means I don't feel like I have matured much or grown. Like I have in some ways but not many. I guess this video helped me realize this.

I'm going to be 28 years old in 2 days. The levels of parasocial bro feelings I got from this video is uncanny.

I am 19 right now, my mom recently found a complete gray hair on my head and picked it out. Of course I was like "Why did you do that, it stings a lot." When she showed it to me I was kind of perplexed because I thought getting gray hair is something that only happens to old people. I am not sure if it is a genetic thing or because of getting more stressed in school. I don´t know. Hell, in 3 years I could have half my head without hair. Scary thoughts.

Hey man thanks for making this video as it reminds myself about how I shall soon be like 2x the age from when my life was first saved from a brain tumour + cancer which required myself to survive operations like chemotherapy & radiotherapy to name a couple that knocked myself out for a 6 over so many months during my first year at high school which lead onto my once young fit goalkeeping body to deteriorate meaning that I needed to often do physiotherapy on every week at the old PMH (when often having my old meds looked over) but luckily I had the absolutely fantastic staff from the local school always encourage my progress with surpassing so many odds as well as choosing to keep myself happy no matter what to keep myself feeling on top of the world so thanks for reminding myself about so many cool faces + so many awesome places like the 2010 Make-A-Wish trip to Japan which I had with most of my immediate family man! 😎

Hobbies of any kind can be enjoyed by anyone of any age; as long as you’re loving it and it brings you happiness THATS totally fine! Honestly I’d see my early 20’s as an extension of my teenage years and once I got to my late 20’s I became more driven on the person I wanted to be. I’m 34 turning 35 and I still enjoy the things I love as a kid (video games, anime, cosplay ext) and I’m embracing the new hobbies I’m learning in my 30’s like knitting, baking/cooking, and building furniture.
Just chilling and being content with who you are is really the best feeling there is. If you’re not there yet then you can always improve and learn more things about yourself.

Just do what makes you happy dude. You have charisma to spare. That is why we watch you, and will continue to do so. To quote from the popular vernacular,"You do you boo".

This is a mood, when I was a teen I was all into younger kid stuff and thought I’d never be into what I deemed “lame stuff” but I’m in my late 20s and I’m all like “oooo scented candles”

Bruh I'm turning 27 this year, and honestly it feels like most of my twenties have disappeared into a void, because everything has basically felt the same since I turned 20.
The only thing that feels different is that I now have a growing disdain for new apps, like tiktok, because I'm getting old too LMAO.
