Hi Dave may I say this is one of the most in depth video series on campervan builds I have watched on RUclips, it has inspired me to have a go myself. I look forward to a lot more of your builds in the future. Keep up the excellent work
@@dave-watsonThank you for all the great in-depth videos. The van looks great! How many hours roughly do you think a build like this takes? I need to try and work out if I can get one in time for my holiday! Thanks
@@jamiefranklin8094 Hi, This van took me about 5 weeks to build. But I think this was the third one I did. The latest one I did took 3 weeks but it all depends on how familiar you are with this sort of work, and it's a good idea to order all of the materials before you start late deliveries can really hold up the work.
I had my windows installed, it's really not worth the hassle IMO and next time I would only have one in the door, with a sliding open. Compared to you I put thin floor insulation, 11mm ply and then carpet, gaining an inch of headroom and 6mm ply + wall carpet in the ceiling gaining, another inch in ceiling height with no loss in insulation. I am 6ft and can now sit upright in the van. My total material costs were around £1,000 on my SWB Vivaro, but very simple electrics. I would love to have a LWB van but after 8 years not going to change. Yours looks smart. How about doing the next one on my £1,000 budget, happy to discuss.
Very useful cost breakdown. I'm now actively looking for LWB Vivaro/Trafic, and this has given me a much better ide of what the conversion is likely to cost. Thank you.
Thanks for sharing this build. I've learned so much and love the final look of the interior. The filming has been spot on and the explanations thorough and easy to follow. Looking forward to the next one
Thanks for watching and if the videos help others I am very happy with that. The rest of the build series is coming soon. Thanks a lot. And good luck with your own conversion. It's all about planning it out and taking your time.
Many thanks for that dave, its a very good breakdown of costs to get the van to a luxury type conversion, I always wanted to know what that kind of money I would need for that level of quality, It looks great, really classy, a pro build, pat urself on the back for the build.
Excellent videos, nice to see a more engineering /craft approach to it all. Some of the costs made me wince a bit but its very helpful as I can modify the list and cut back on a few bits to keep costs down if needed. eg have a more basic bed and kitchen, I do like the clever bed frame though you get what you pay for in this world. Was suprised that the insulation and floor were not too much money, and they are all done to a high standard.
Thanks Dunk. Glad you found the video helpful. And yes the cost of the R&R bed was a lot. I make my own wooden R&R beds now, its about half the cost and much lighter in the van. Thanks for watching
Thanks for watching. I did another conversion for less than £3000. But the R&R bed and the kitchen pushed the price up in this one. Good luck with yours.
Really enjoyed watching this van build from start to finish got some great ideas off you am looking for a transit jumbo because theres are five of us I have at the minute a lwb transit but just not big enough for all of us thanks for the videos look forward to your next episode 👍
Hi Paul, Thanks a lot glad the videos are helpful. I'm starting another Vivaro soon and I'll video the whole build again. Good luck with your conversion.
Grand stuff is that Dave. You've done an excellent job on that van. I've thoroughly enjoyed binging on your build videos and I've subscribed to your channel. I'm certain you won't have any trouble selling it, if you haven't sold it already.... top work sir 👏 👌
Hiya Dave, hope your well. Me and my Partner are buying a Vivaro over the next couple of months. We absolutely love this build, would be perfect for what we want it for! Any chance at all you fancy taking a job on if we Agree a price on doing a build with us? We are asking as we don't have tools and any idea what we are doing! Thanks look forward to hearing from you.
Hi, All things are possible. But it would depend upon your location I'm on the North East coast NE33. Email me if you want to discuss it further. mrdwatsong@gmail.com Thanks for watching
@Dave Watson - any chance you could post where you got the bed frame from? I just got the same type van, and know nothing about conversions ahahah so your videos have REALLY helped already!
This is a lovely build Dave, very neat and tidy. Can't wait to see the next build so keep those vids rolling! By the way, what is the next van you're going to kit out? Curious. Cheers.
Hi Dave, I’ve loved all of your videos on your van build and they have inspired me to do the same! Just trying to find a van at the moment to start on. Do you have an electronic copy of this at all, would love to take a look to see if I can start to source some items ready for the conversion!
Hi Lee, I have a spreadsheet of all the materials but it does not have links to where I got the stuff. A lot of it came from ebay. I can send you ta cope of the spreadsheet if I have your email of FB. Thanks
Hi, Dave! that's a great looking van conversion. I have the same model vivaro and starting my conversion next week. Just wondering what are the dimensions of the 11mil OSB boards you've used for the flooring? I am currently looking at options but don't know what to pick as there are many different on ebay. I would appreciate your response.
Hi Dave, Did you use the whole of the 50m spool of cable? I have this van and doing a similar conversion, but i have ordered a 20m spool and unsure if i will have enough. Thanks.
Hi Richard, I have a PDF of most of the materials and costs. I can email it to you if you drop me a message at mrdwatsong@gmail.com. Thanks for watching.
I am hoping to do a camper conversion in the future and struggling to decide on the best van to look for We need one for 2 adults and 2 Ridgeback crosses I also need it to be our daily van, so would need to fit in a standard parking bay Any advice?
Hi Sarah, The LWB trafic or vivaro is a good choice. The SWB might be a bit small for 2 adults and 2 dogs but the LWB fits into parking spaces no problem. I use mine as my main form of transport and it works out great. Hope that helps.
Thanks a lot,. It took me about 7 weeks to do the full conversion (But I was only able to work on it in the afternoons). So in full days it's about 4 weeks. Which is not so bad. but this is the second conversion. Much was learned doing the first one. Thanks for watching and I hope you enjoy the rest of the build series.
Wow, you have paid BIG bucks for some things. I'm going through a van conversion now and just bought 10 square mtrs of stretch carpet for GBP 21.99, 3 tins of adhesive for 11.99, that's 34 quid rounded incl. postage, you paid 80. 5 square meters of sticky back foam, you paid GBP 59.92, I paid GBP 25.17. The 5 way switch panel goes for 15.47. Various other things I got significantly cheaper.
That's a significant saving........where did you get the carpet from?......I'm about to start another van and would be interested in getting some at that price. Thanks.
