Absolutely brilliant series Dave. Thanks so much for sharing this with people. I appreciate all the detail you went into also. You really took us with you. RUclips at its best.
I watched the entire serie over severall evenings, and i can tell you this: its been a pleasure to watch, and very inspiring. You got a very creative mind, and nice working hands, very well done sir, it came out beautifull!!!
great build, just finished making my rock and roll bed thats in the front of my transit, it is a front seat, a camper seat or a full sized single bed.. been a nightmare, making sure it all locks etc for safe use as a van seat, but makes a great bed
Loved your van build Dave, I was impressed with your sewing the covers, you seem to be able to turn your hand to everything! I'm a 62 yr old lady and am in the middle of my own van build, a swb Vauxhall vivaro, a steep learning process doing it, one step forward and two back but I'm getting there! I finished the seat covers for mine the other week, it's for a pull out bed, with zips and it was a similar material to yours. Small tip, if you cut off some of the seam allowance or step it, more off one than the other and cut across the corners you will get a cleaner fold, though yours looked fine anyway! Looking forward to your next build! Karen
@@dave-watson Great, looking forward to seeing it! I think you could probably do 10 van builds to my one, I keep changing my mind about how to do something!
This is great! Thanks Dave. Was it pretty straight forward drilling through and bolting it to the body of the van? My kids will be travelling in those seats so I don’t want to take any chances.
Hi. I had to take the spare wheel off from under the van and drilled a pilot hole then the 12mm hole for the bolts. The bed came with some strips of metal to spread the weight which are fixed under the van. It all seems solid.
I've made great progress and have the plywood down on the rock n roll bed. Would you mind sharing where you got the foam from and what thickness you went for in the end? Huge thanks in advance
@@StudioInnate Hi, I got the foam from a place called GB Foam Direct. I got two different types and stuck them together. I got the high density blue foam at 65mm deep and the medium density at 25mm deep and then glued them together with spray adhesive. The medium density is a bit softer for the top of the cushion. Hope that helps.

@@adamclark4837 That is the only R&R bed I've used so I'm not sure about any others. But I did notice that the company i bought that one from has a new website here is a link www.elfbeds.co.uk/beds/
Hi Dave I am slithering about whether to put in a RnR or just build a sofa one like in your other convesion. I will ultimately sell the van after I've used it a bit and hope to turn a profit, so I guess probably RnR is a better investment as people with kids will be looking for the back belted seats. But on the other hand this layout makes the van a bit cramped for my taste.. Just wondering what are your thoughts Cheers H
Hi, I've made a few vans with the fold out seat (no seatbelts) and they sold no problem. The R&R beds are good for more passengers but I found mainly it is a couple or single person who bought the vans. Hope that helps and thanks for watching
Hi, I have done conversion work for others. The best bet would be to give me a call to discuss exactly what you want doing. You can call me on 01914205232 anytime after 4.00pm is good for me. Thanks
Lovely build Dave. Curious if you ordered the foam on line or do you know a local place/manufacturer? Same with the materials used for curtains. Keep the vids coming.
Hi, my daughter just brought me the same Van, and I intend to camp it, like this design but I've got to dogs! May I ask to pick you brains... How could I incorporate 2 dogs in this design?
How about a swivel front passenger seat. In this build there was about 80cm of floor space once the R&R bed is pulled out but a swivel seat would give a bit more room. And very comfy for the dogs. Hope that helps. And thanks for watching
Amazing workmanship. Very inspiring and brilliantly explained. Well done, Dave.
Thanks very much Andy, hopefully a new van build coming in the spring
