C J if they didn't have the chemicals that they have in them today. they woudlve been fine. almost like a cigar. But nooooo they wanted to make smoking just God awful
Bill Bo Haggins been growing my own tobacco for a few years I suggest barley tobacco seed to grow. The other kinds require specific difficult drying processes.
I am willing to bet they definitely do. I have had the opportunity to enjoy 15 maybe 20, different brands of cigarettes. I do not have my notes in front of me, but I believe I've tried anywheres from 1915 up to 1945 or 55. And almost every case you cannot believe the difference from then compared to today. For their age they were incredibly smooth taste was incredible, unfortunately today's regulations have destroyed the real taste of a real good cigarette.
Yea, tobacco matures with age so long as it's not laden with additives and it's sealed properly. If cigarettes are well sealed, unopened and still cello wrapped they are usually fine to smoke. In my experience they can still sometimes lose a little flavour due to the oils leaching out into cardboard and paper packaging, but the extra foil wrapping inside the box on these looks solid. I'm actually surprised that the paper on the cigarettes themselves wasn't more discoloured from the tobacco oils, these are still very white. While obviously all cigarettes aren't good for you (we get it preachers, go away and enjoy what you enjoy, we'll enjoy what we enjoy and leave you alone..), older cigarettes are actually much less harmful because they didn't used to load the tobacco with additive chemicals and the quality of older tobacco was much better. Authorities and anti-tobacco organisation today obsess mainly over tar content.. but in reality it's all the additives now which are far more harmful. Many old world cigarettes have been lost to the market due to higher tar content, so they have been replaced with newer cigarettes made with absolute junk tobacco that's pumped full of additives and even added "free base" nicotine.. this is not policed at all. Authorities and lobbyists should, if anything, look at banning these practices in the cigarette industry and not tar content. They don't really understand what they are protesting against and policing. Smoking cigarettes should not be illegal, it's an adult's personal choice, just as with drinking alcohol or anything else - but the harmful practice of loading cigarette tobacco with additive chemicals should be made illegal. Some people will always want to smoke, so let them smoke good quality tobacco and not junk filled with chemicals and extra nicotine. Note: Free-base nicotine, as opposed to base nicotine which is found naturally in the plant leaf, combusts much more easily at lower temperatures. There is also a lot more of it added these days, which makes cigarettes far more addictive and the taste and smell far more chemical and astringent. You can see the difference if you buy unadulterated, good quality tobacco and make your own cigarette - or try an old cigarette such as these - and compare to a modern manufactured cigarette. The difference in flavour and smell is enormous.
I've been looking for some pump room smokes for so long. I wouldn't be able to bring myself to open the pack if I found some so I'm glad y'all did it so I can watch
Cigarettes these days are bad because they contain fsc (fire safety compliant) additives - - - and that tastes bad ____see carpet glue lol. I remember when I used to smoke camel non filters in the 1990 s they were so good. Now I smoke cigars
@@lucatoscani4524 davidof classic ciggs are still very good ciggs to smoke because they don't have that fsc ( fire safe cigarettes ) in the paper on them!!, and they taste so good you should smoke them cuz they don'y have that fsc in them😉
Yeah I just bought a pack of "debs" on eBay and the writing on the back said it was blended for women. Pretty neat. Rose tipped as well like the pump rooms in this vid
Let's say I had my own tobacco hobby fields and wanted to reproduce cigarettes from that era. What would be hard about just making them as they were back then? ... Surely production in the 1950's and earlier must've been pretty simple compared to today? ... Or is the trick that these vintage cigs are good, mainly because they have aged for 50+ years?
IF YOU want them to taste more like they did when new you have to "humidify" them. The cellophane wrapping was originally to keep moisture/freshness in....but over the years the cigarettes will become very dry and burn hot. This is not usually known by "cigarette" smokers although well known to cigar and pipe tobacco users. Remove the cigs from the pack and place them in a clean glass jar with a "slightly" dampened small piece of sponge or even dampened small lump of paper towel. Seal the jar and let the cigs sit for about 6 - 8 hours. A cool smoke is a better tasting smoke.

Long time ago they thought it was good to smoke and even children can....now it's proven to kill you...so that's why there's no health warning
