    These videos are so informative but also they make me sorta sad. I was diagnosed with trochanteric bursitis when i had just turned 20. based on how they describe it, the doctor was definitely correct, but it makes me really sad to think that nobody i saw stopped to think “why does otherwise perfectly healthy, 20 year old have hip bursitis”. They offered me a corisone shot or PT. There were a bunch of exercises in PT that no matter how consistent i was, it felt like my hips literally weren’t structured to do them. They didn’t hurt they just felt out of reach. I told the PT this. I told the Dr this. I told a surgeon i saw, this. Everyone was just like “you’re a female runner who pushed her hips too far just keep at it”. But i was keeping at it, no one was listening. Flash forward 4 years of pain that can come back at any time for any apparent reason, i’m finally told i have *literally* 0 internal rotation in my left hip and 40% in my right hip so my right hip had been compensating for years. i fell into a depression not being to exercise for so long because i had no idea what would set it off. and if someone had just paused and been like okay not just what is this but WHY is this happening, which being 20 years old at the time that should have fucking occurred to someone besides myself, i could have seen the right people so much sooner. i had no idea this was so rare in young people. ugh

    I remember several years ago complaining to my family practice doctor about my hip hurting So badly . He said it was probably bursitis but I thought I might need a hip replacement. He sent me to an orthopedic doctor just to be sure. When I went in to see him and told him the complaint he said to stand on one foot and don't hold on anyting and then I had to stand on the other foot and not hold on anything. And because I did that and there was no pain that he said I did not need a hip replacement . If I needed a hip replacement I wouldn't be able to do that . I should have just trusted my FP doctor , he is very wise.

    I am 60 years old. I play soccer on a regular basis when not locked in my home! Last year I had sharp pains in my right hip. I thought it would end my playing. My doctor diagnosed it as bursitis. He said it may never go away. When I visited the hospital to have a cortisone shot, the doctor refused to give it to me. He said he did not think it would help and believed the pain was not from bursitis. I played though the pain and am now 100% better. 😀

    Just got back the doctors and I was diagnosed with bursitis. My hip pain is on my left side and hurts when I’m leaning sideways to the right side. Also hurts when I’m laying on my back and I lift my leg to adjust or extend it from side-to-side. No pain is felt when I’m sitting, do daily activities, walking, going upstairs, nothing. It’s nothing extreme so I was only recommended stretches and exercise and was told it can take months for it to go away. Thinking back, I cross my legs TOO much when I’m sitting at work especially my left leg to the right leg. So, I’m thinking this is why I have bursitis since I didn’t have any prior injuries. Also, my mattress dips in the middle and I started to sleep on the floor with a floor mattress. It helps HEAPS. I haven’t slept on a traditional mattress in over two months and I much prefer sleeping in the floor now.

    I'm having trouble figuring out if it's bursitis, or muscle soreness. I have IT band issues, and was doing leg raises on my side, heard that helps strengthen the TFL muscle to take stress off the IT band, and my hip on that side has been sore for 5 days now, not really getting better, and feels warm. I'm not a runner, bicycler, stair runner etc, I do Brazilian jiu jitsu, but again no injury to the hip except when I woke up 5 days ago. no traumatic injury to the area, but doesn't feel the same as usual muscle soreness.

    Can you have bursitis and sciatic problems at the same time?

    • @JessicaDudas
      @JessicaDudas 3 года назад

      Hi Tasha, yes that's possible. Because if we have increased tension in our hip muscles (piriformis) this can increase pressure on the sciatic nerve and that tightness can put compression on the bursa. Working on stretching your piriformis may help!

    I’m 29 and I believe I have this. I am a very very active walker, and one day suddenly the left side of my hip hurt really bad. I couldn’t even walk the stairs properly without holding on to something. My right leg is completely fine, no strain, no pain, nothing. I feel like there’s a swollen part on my left leg where the muscle is. I compared it with my right leg and there’s nothing. It’s frustrating because because my right leg is perfectly fine, but when I walk for like 10-15 min, left hip leg flares up. Any recommendations? I’ll be seeing a doctor today :) It’s been two weeks now and it hasn’t healed or anything :///

      @@metalliholic Hello Edgar, it had gone away completely after a month or two of limiting my movement. This meant staying in bed for most of the days and avoiding walking and stairs wherever possible.
      1) My buddy who is a combat vet recommended me to chew 1 Advil Extra Strength pill at least once a day and gulp it down with water if needed, but chewing it is important.
      2) If showering, make sure to do it witn cold water to let the swelling go down.
      3) Apply cooling gel spread out thinly on the affected area at least once or twice a day. I got mine at Amazon.
      Resting is very important! I’m completely okay now as if it never happened. That maybe have to do with my age. Wish you the best!

      Go to a physical therapist, follow their advice and do the hard work at home of helping your body heal itself. Not a chiropractor and, in terms of your Dr., just use that person to get the referral.
