Yes! You give a step-by-step in a way that is understandable and easy to follow. You even tell people that they don't have to use a Cricut, if they don't want to. Please keep doing tutorials! Please.
Great tutorial, was wondering how to do this.. don’t know if anyone has mentioned microsol or microset it’s for waterslide decals makes the edge disappear and helps get rid of wrinkles and bubbles.
Good Morning, I have a question concerning waterslide decals and sealing on a tumbler. I have a laser printer, laser waterslide decal paper, and ordered some white tumblers that are also sublimation tumblers (just happened to work out that way). I was wondering if I could oven cure these and do I need a completely separate oven to cure than my home oven? Is it the sublimation mug that gives off fumes or the actual sublimation print out (which I am not using). I know most people use epoxy but I'm not sure I want to go down that avenue just yet. I love watching your channel and is most definitely one of my "go to" for information and education.
I sprayed my waterslide decal outside with polycrylic and it bubbled! It’s in the 50’s today…I don’t know if that caused the bubbles or what happened! Any clue? Thank you! I just love your tutorials!❤
With that rainbow, could you put the white square behind it and slice? Then remove the outside of the square and flatten the inside? Would that work, or am I missing something? May I’m missing attach? Lol
Great tutorial! Have a question: I did a glitter tumbler and sealed with epoxy. I want to put on a water slide and then bling the slide. Is it absolutely necessary to re-epoxy? Or, can I just bling over the slide when it's dry? My concern is that another coat of epoxy will make it thick and heavier. That with the rhinestones will be bulky. Is there a work around for this process?
I love the little cactus guy. He’s so cute. I was wondering what the poly acrylic was for until you said the ink wasn’t smeared. Would the laser version have to have poly on it as well? Thanks for all the good info Angie.
Hi, I’m new to this type of crafting and had a question. I don’t have a craft oven, and I read that it’s not safe to bake these items in an oven that will be used for food. Would I be ok not to bake it, but to use the dishwasher safe mod podge on top instead?
You mentioned to use the matte tape in your video. I’m having trouble with my cricut reading the lines. Would I put the tape on the lines after I’ve printed my image
So I've read different answers on the internet about the ink that needs to be used. So would I need a whole different printer with a different ink or can you use the ink in your ink jet printer and I also read that on the items that come in with food contact that they just need to be sealed with a food safe seal.
The cactus looks the same from the other side because it s transparent, if you printed on the white paper would you get the same image looking at the glass from the back?
I’m not sure I understand what you used the Cricut for. I guess I need a tutorial for the whole process. Like starting with the image you used were you cutting the image out on water slide paper. I just simply don’t understand what your doing. Can anyone explain.
If I am designing something myself for a coffee mug (9 oz) how do I know what to size my design to be to wrap around the mug- its a complete wrap minus space for drinking (top of mug) and space at the bottom and space from the handle on both sides. Doing mugs to match merch for my book
I have so much trouble not tearing mine. Do you think it’s because I didn’t put enough sealer on them or give it enough time to dry? I order the laser ones since it didn’t require the sealer but don’t want to waste anymore paper.
@@AngieHolden so how can they wash the glasses. I want to do these on wine glasses but don't want them to wash off when they wash their glasses. Is there a film or something to put over them other than modge podge?
I’ve got a dumb question I’ve watched all these tutorials and it says if you bake in your oven with a craft such as this one you can never use your oven again is that true because if so what is the different alternative alternative
Most people say to bake at 230 for 10-15 mins. Does it matter that I have a gas oven? I know i have to adjust when cooking so im afraid it might crack. Doing a photo on to a plate
Did not find the settings I was looking for, what kind of medium people select for waterslide decals because it's still not in Cricut / Design space :\
My guess would be the glossy surface. Spray with a matte sealer when you are sealing instead of a glossy one. Or cover the black lines with matte tape.
You mentioned its not dishwasher safe.what about handwashed? i tried this exactly the way you did. but when i washed it it just fell.what did i do wrong?
I have several of these sitting in my craft room to try some dishwasher tests on right now. I am waiting for a sealer to cure over the top. Did you wait the amount of time and bake yours? There should be times on your package and then it should have been hand wash safe. I am not sure if you could soak it in water or anything but you should be able to rinse it off without anything over the top.
@@AngieHolden yes i have the same brand paper you showed. the first time i did mess up. so the second time i made sure i did exactly what the instruccions said. does it depend on the mug? maybe its finish. i tried one from dollar tree and another from ross.

That is because it is glossy. When you do the sealer, you can use a matte sealer and that usually fixes it. Or you can put matte tape over the black lines.
Correct. Because the paper is glossy. I would put the sealer on first so it is not shiny or go over the top with matte tape. The sensor is getting a reflection from the glossy surface and it can't see your lines.

Epoxy is the best sealing method. It is the sublimation process that gives off fumes. So the ink becoming a gas then fusing with the coating.

Oh yes! That would work! I didn't even think about that!
This looks so fun! I was just wondering what would be the advantage over sublimation if there is any?
I am working on a big comparison. It is definitely not as good as sublimation. But if you only have an inkjet printer, it is an option.
Great video. Thanks for the great information.

I don't know of a way to seal the waterslide to make it withstand wear/washing without the epoxy.
When do you use the spray sealer I saw on your links for this video? You didn't show using that product. Love your videos!
Try 5:26 in this video.
I’m going to try this now. Have you ever sealed a water slide with Mod Podge Dishwasher?

I don't have a package of the laser version but it will say on the back if you need to seal. Most likely yes you do.
Super cool video. I have a problem with my waterslide decals: they come off really easily after a couple of hours from laying down. Is it normal?
They stick pretty well I find until you get them wet again.
@@AngieHolden with well you mean they can be pulled off with a nail from the edge? Because that's what happens to mine (Hayes clear inkjet)

great tutorial, can these decals be used in journals?
I have never used them on paper. You would need to get that paper wet.

You can let waterslides air dry for like 3 days and they are fine.

They were from Plaid but are several years old.
Great tutorial Do you set you cups and glasses on anything when you back them such as a cookie sheet or just put them on the wire rack in the oven?
I have a small craft oven but I just put them on the rack in there.

Water slides work with regular ink. I would use a food safe sealer.
The cactus looks the same from the other side because it s transparent, if you printed on the white paper would you get the same image looking at the glass from the back?
No it would look white from the back.
Are the mugs a Sublimation mug or just a reg mug you can get at Dollar store or Walmart
Water slide can be used on any mug.
This remind of the temporary tattoos we had as kids! I wonder if they're the same exact thing?

Hi! Are you using regular printer ink to create your decals or speciality ink ?
Regular printer ink.
Are you saying to bake it just like in a regular oven or something special?
You can bake it in a regular oven. I have a small convection oven in my craft room I use for crafting.
I’m curious about the spray sealer, it’s not food grade so if the cup was gifted, they would be putting their mouth on it to drink from
You have to keep it away from the top so your lips won't touch it.
You can also put water slide decals on wood.
I think it should work. You would probably not bake it though. Just let it air dry.
I’m not sure I understand what you used the Cricut for. I guess I need a tutorial for the whole process. Like starting with the image you used were you cutting the image out on water slide paper. I just simply don’t understand what your doing. Can anyone explain.
I printed the image on a printer then cut around it with a Cricut. You can use scissors but the Cricut is more precise.
If I make the same decal like 12 on a sheet do I need to put box around each sticker or will duplicate do that automatically???thank you
You only need a box around them all and Cricut takes care of that for you.
Thank you for this precise tutorial.
You're very welcome!
Hi, I can place in a regular home oven to cure the glass?
I think it is fine with waterslide but I use a small table top oven in my craft room.
Thank you

I would use a sewing tape measure to measure the size.
I have so much trouble not tearing mine. Do you think it’s because I didn’t put enough sealer on them or give it enough time to dry? I order the laser ones since it didn’t require the sealer but don’t want to waste anymore paper.
Maybe not enough dry time? I didn't use any other brands but I am wondering if there is a difference there.
Do you put the paper in face down? I have the same printer that you have.
The HP Printer you put the paper in face down.
hi there! is there a specific file that we can use for waterslide decal? png or svg? Thanks for sharing this video
PNG or JPG would be better but you can flatten an SVG and print it as well.
Can the mug be washed in hands, will it be affected after washing
Try this: ruclips.net/video/k88sTUTzFhE/видео.html
I am also concern if it is not food safety, then when we put in oven to bake it, is it safe?
It does not release chemicals. You can let it air dry.
@@AngieHolden Thanks... Now I feel safer... will try it out today
Can you put these on wood without having to bake it?
There are instructions for wood and you just let them sit longer to dry out. The baking is just to dry it out and remove the moisture.
Is the clear gaze spray a sealer I can use?
I used an acrylic sealer.
would you put the glass in the oven as well to seal it?
You can bake these or allow them to dry. It doesn't really seal them from water, however.
@@AngieHolden so how can they wash the glasses. I want to do these on wine glasses but don't want them to wash off when they wash their glasses. Is there a film or something to put over them other than modge podge?

No.

My Circuit will not cut my water slides out. Any suggestions why it’s doing that?
My guess would be the glossy surface. Spray with a matte sealer when you are sealing instead of a glossy one. Or cover the black lines with matte tape.
Can you use a regular oven??
I don't know that water slide puts out any fumes? I just always use my craft oven.
How safe the baking process? I am a chicken with oven and glass
This product is a really low temperature so I don't think there is any risk.
what program and printer are you using?
I am using Cricut Design Space and an HP Photo Envy.
Instead of baking could you put them in a mug press?
I don't think so. The baking is at a low heat and basically dries them out.
Baking as in the oven in the kitchen?

The registration marks are the black box around the outside when you print from Cricut Design Space.
Wow so it takes like 2hrs to make a mug?
Could we use offset
Sure!
Do you print and finish ready to use decals?
