Agree we 🇨🇦 were terrible today thank god mad Max bailed us out, intetestingly i did not know Peru had a rugby team thought we were playing football😂🍻
No s***t!!!.. a very cagey affair, indeed!!!.. this coming from a 🇵🇪-🇨🇦 fan, here!! 😉
Dude, what happened to Buchannan? I thought he would be a star in Marsch's system but he seems incapable of beating his man 1 on 1 and even if he gets in a scoring position he seems scared.
Nahh you just not used to conmebol😂
They played terrible? Hahaha you idiots in Concacaf. It was very that was superior. They didn’t let Canada play. “Canada play bad”. Such losers. Just to remind you Concacaf sucks. You won’t really get that far. Stay with your boring baseball
Rugby? Canada has a team and cannot even play that sport either. All Blacks beat you up ALL THE TIME. 😅😅😅😅😅😅😅
As a Canadian, I’ll take a “we won even thought we didn’t play well” game over so many moral victories that end in losses… and I really don’t understand how people aren’t talking more about how much of a factor the heat probably was, especially for Canadians, we’re used to -40 degree weather, imo it was smart of Marsch to not have us pressing all game… I don’t know what psycho decided to schedule a game at this time of day in this heat, but they should be fired, a referee collapsed ffs and he wasn’t running nearly as much as the players… you really think Copa America would allow Lord Messi to play in such conditions?
CONMEBOL Teams are use to that and more! Try a full game in Bolivia over 5,000 meters above level sea. 😅
And don't forget to mention that the same refereeing squad decided before the match that there would be NO water breaks. Really?? Sorry but look up Clown Show in the encyclopedia and there will be photos of Latino referees. Both CONMEBOL and CONCACAF are forever handicapped by such clowns.
Don't many Canadians play in MLS? They should be used to playing in heat.
Orlando on Saturday won't be a walk in the park either. Forecast is very warm.
Hey, don’t include Messi into this….Btw, he would have left his heart on the field like he always does.😊
Well … we made it on ESPN 😅
Lol they ARE harsh aren't they? Seems like they don't quite get that Canada are babies when it comes to games on stages like this against "quality" opponents. They were awful to be fair ha ha.
@@fit_man_cam1713 In hockey we know that playing bad and winning is a good sign.
Naa Canada missed so many chances lol. And the last 10 minutes they're dropping off and bunkering in when they're up a man? Allowed some good opportunities for Peru to score. That was poor. Don't know what Jesse was thinking.
Si
@@devilsadvocate243 All hockey is fundamentally bad hockey. The NHL doesn't have enough quality to make 1 true all-star team, let alone 32. That's why Bo7 makes sense for that sport, because bad wins can happen 3-4 times per series.
I feel like the heat was a bigger factor to this game than what meets the eye
Yeah I mean we got a referee who probably went out for heat stroke so…..
@@DavidJacobo❤❤
Totally agree!
Absolutely, Jesse Marsch was smart to not have us play the typical hard press in this heat, the team would have been exhausted by the 20 minute mark…
@@joseph-fernando-piano didn’t think of that. I can see that.
Canada used to 0C not 38C!!! But we still won!!!
One thing I'll say in Canada's favor. I think Marsch realized the heat was going to be a killer today, because I thought they'd full press more than they did. They pretty much stopped pressing after 10 mins and sat in and just tried to trap Peru on the wings. That is not Canada's/Marsch's game but the heat really killed any chance of pressing much and so I think that played into Peru's favor. Also Canada's wingers outside of Shaffleberg were bad today. That kid from Inter ..Buchannan. I thought he would be a bright star under Marsch but he's been playing terrible. He can't take on anybody or even shoot.
TB is out of shape
The problem with TB is that he has not had many minutes with Inter. Greatly not game shape. Its hard to be sharp when not playing.
Peru will be 3 and done. They didn’t invest in younger players. They are still bringing Guerrero, Carillo, Advincula, Corzo players way over 32. Trodding these players stifles the growth of younger players.
There are no replacements.
Their coach is an old man who should be sleeping in peace instead of being nice to the players.
How come you’re not talking about the weather being a factors? It’s easy to criticize Canada but the weather was a major factor in their performance. You guys are not mentioning the referee collapsed due to the heat.
Welcome playing with CONMEBOL, try to play in Bolivia over 5000 meter above level sea. 😂
Look up the interview of Canada’s fabulous keeper Maxim Crepeau who was the first to help the stricken assistant referee!
Peru doesn’t play in heat either. Doesn’t excuse Canada’s poor performance. Even with an extra player they did nothing. Very lucky
@richardlopez4318 Geography and soccer are just not your strength. Peru is close to the equatorial line, which means very very hot. About Canada and Peru, Peru is not the best team in CONMEBOL actually rank last, and only with 10 players Canada could score. You will see how many few teams from CONCACAF will make the 2nd round and probably none, not even the quarter final.
@@CML77777 Say what? You know I agree with you right? Canada was toyed and danced around with by Peru, even after the red card. All they could do was one shot on goal with an extra man for 50 minutes. I think you need to take your time and read better before commenting on yt. And I don’t know where you’re from but only the north border of Peru is near the equator. Peru is a big country with all types of climates. And the capital is dry desert like, cold weather, similar to California. Peru was last place around this time in the last two qualifiers and ended in 5th spot to repechaje. You’re right about CONCACA though, they suck. USA and Mexico are basically out. 😂
Zidane thinking why he got carded for a headbutt after that VAR.
😂😂😂😂😂
I’m Mexican but Canada is built for this tournament. They got speed all over the field and when they counter good luck….
Maybe but they were so bad in this game. No where near as good as Peru, which is probably saying something.
Mexican soccer sucks. So nobody care
@@Steve-606it was incredibly hot for them... A ref collapsed because of the heat and there was no way Canada were going to press the whole game... The pitch was also horrible the ball was going all over the place
Go Venezuela, let's show CONCACAF what soccer is about!
I want El Tri to take care business, vamos México!!! 🇺🇸❤️🇲🇽
peru should have had 2 red cards. That was pathetic refereeing. Really a disgusting display
What about Bombito kick to GOAT Leo Messi? that should have been a red one too!
@@CML77777 no it's shouldn't have. Messi fans are weird and seem to think nobody is allowed to play football against him. There should have been two Reds for Peru and bombito should have a yellow, and a lot less racist attacks against him just cause he's a defender who tackled an attacker 🙄
@@mdhindley CONCACAF follower... 😆 stick with jockey, Canada would not survive next round in Copa America. You won against the worst team in CONMEBOL only when Peru got 10 players.... South America is LOL.
@@CML77777 and you're a toxic stereotype. Pretty weak bro. Nothing you said made me feel anything. Cause none of the things you said matter. Get a life.
Peru sucks nowadays. And that was a well deserved red card. But Peru was way better. Better touch , opportunities and chances. Really bad strategy from the Peruvian coach to leave so few at the back after they were 10. The goal from Canada was too easy for them
Canada is very young in our pedigree in the football world. We’re learning and the boys are building something. Lots of individual athleticism but they’re learning to play as a squad.
Canada didn’t play well today but I think they were nervous about getting maneuvered into yellow cards as has so often has happened to them.
Peru had glorious scoring chances even post red card. The CDN keeper made some outstanding saves. That deserves some credit. Canada also scored a beautiful counter attack goal with a fantastic one-time pinpoint pass from Shaffelberg. A terrible team doesn’t do that. At all. Give the Canadians a little more respect
Worst game i've seen from Canada in years. Lucky for that (deserved) red card. Still looked like 11v11 after that. Weird to watch.
The HEAT waa the biggest obstacle
Canada today, looked a lot like their old selves (not good). Jesse Marsch shoulders much of the blame. The simplest line up change, not that it was needed; would have been slipping Laryea in for Buchanan. Instead, he tries to reinvent the wheel and fails miserably. Canada wins ugly, but here's hoping they return to positive football against Chile
Yes Canada looked like USA about 15-20 years ago.
Yeah for me the sheer disorganization of Canada was worrying. Left tons of space in defense, struggled to transition through the midfield, and couldn't connect in attack.
I was hoping to see Canada settle the ball down and try to hold it up and sustain some passages of play. But they turned the ball over constantly.
I hope we see more evidence of Canada's progress in their next performance.
Take the win and the 3 points and move on...
Real feel was 98 degrees. Canada was struggling with that heat. Their match against Argentina was a night game and a relief for Canada.
Felicidades Canada dando respetar a la concacaf😎 congratulations
Gracias
Solo ganaron porque Peru tenía 1 menos 😂
We were terrible. And we won. Imagine if we played the way we can? Not a contest. At all.
So bad. That was the worst match I've seen from us (Canada) in years. Kone looked like a beer league player after looking like a Real Madrid starter vs France. Everyone was off and missing passes. Was terrible.
Except Max and Shaff.
The pitch was horrible the heat was so intense that a ref passed out Canada simply couldn't play in these conditions and still came out with a win
the team is really broken man, we need to change everything out and don't ever change our playstyle , we play better as a 4321 formation
Honestly it wasn't that bad. First half was bad for canada no doubt. Swcond half wasnt. Even before the red card. Then they held on well after the goal. Not saying they were great, but they took their licks and came through. Winning when you arent great is the sign of a good team not the opposite.
Canada has a lot of potential but they make so many bonehead moves those last 10 minutes were horrible their lucky Peru didn't score
It's a bit concerning how poorly Canada played in the heat, but the biggest concern for me is the inexperience of our back line. Can't say enough about our goalie though.
Crepeau is amazing! He seems like a cool guy too. I just saw the interview in which it turns out he was the first person to help the assistant referee who had fainted. 😊
show needs more discussion about cultural differences in Catholic theology
Are you a Glasgow Celtic fan ? Typical tim banging on about Catholics 😂
😆
Peru came to fight. Peru was one counter attack away from defeat the whole game. The condescending attitude of the panel members was displayed in the match by the Peruvian team. Look where it got them. Canada will go through to the knock-out stages. Peru and Chile will go home.
The heat and humidity affected Canada after just 15 minutes of the match. That video of the ref collapsing from the heat is not pretty, and well, you can imagine what the players were feeling in that game. And I also think the heat affected more tha Canadians than the Peruvians.
Canada is getting worse at hockey and better at soccer...
You better start getting worried eh
Good analysis. I thought Peru might get too wrapped up in the physical after the Chile match. They should have buried Canada with clean attacking football.
Is it better to play well and lose or play poorly and win?
Good question!!
Play poorly and win so you can hear everyone cry about how you should have lost😂
In a friendly, play well and loose…but in a major tournament, doesn’t matter how you win, as long as you do…
As a Canadian, I’m tired of moral victories, I’ll take an actual victory any day of the week!
Playing well and loosing doesn't take you anywhere. Better to win no matter the circumstances and fix what has to be fixed for the next game.
Canada wasn't even violent against Argentina. Really not a valid excuse for how bush league Peru was in the game against Canada.
Agree completely!
Our midfield did not have a great game. Kone and Estacio were both struggling. When your midfield struggles so does everything else. Bringing Orsario helped a bit.
Its a tournament. Of course you want to play everygame well, but realistically everyone is competing for a trophy. That means that every game won't be easy no matter the comp. Costa Rica for example
The Peruvians were exhausted by 70th min? Never seen a whole team at the same time hit a wall
Well done Canada! ❤🎉
My belief is that like some Scandinavian countries (as an example) Canada can't play in the heat. What I mean is that they can't play using their conventional tactics that they would normally. Hopefully, Marsch has made a note of this and will adjust should they face similar circumstances in future games.
It get's to 30-35 degrees constantly in Canada lol
Canada is in Scandinavia
Canada has tons of players who have played elsewhere than Canada for a very long time, places with decently warm weather. I don't think the climate upbringing somehow stays with them to the end of their lives or something
This is a very familiar tale for us (🇵🇪⚽️), thinking we are the better team way ahead of time.
¡Exactly, ur compatriots, technically I’m one, were confident they were gonna beat us easy there hermano!!
Nobody thought this. You must live in a bubble
@AnthonyPaulT that's why I said "we", that's the bubble.
Perdemos pero que viva perú ❤🇵🇪
The only optys for Peru post red card were the Paolo header to Cueva volley, then Paolo draws a direct kick outside the box and almost puts it away.
Canada looked the worst I've seen them in years unfortunately.
I don't expect technical brilliance all the time but Canada often lacked intensity and sharpness. The passing was woeful.
We will need to see a much better-organized side if they expect to challenge better teams.
Losing Herdman was a huge blow. He was probably the best manager in CONCACAF
anyone that has ever played ANY sport has to remember back to when you played your best performances - often when the opposing team was better.
I can recall some of my/our lesser play (basketball, volleyball, softball, badminton) was any time I/we played with poor teams - it throws your level of efficient play off - instantly, regardless of how mentally and tactically strong your team is. It simply gets and feels scrappy - there exists a loss of finesse.
Fair comments! The heat had nothing to do with the performance of either team 😏
The match ends with 11-men Canada, with top players in top European leagues, putting up the bus against 10-men Peru whose entire team is not as valuable as one single Canadian player. Worrying.
Canada's performance was the worst I've seen from a CONCACAF top 3 squad since the '90s. They looked like a baseball team that picked up the wrong bags at an airport. Never seen so many unforced errors and bad decisions. They didn't seem to understand that they don't have to race down the field to put in long desperation crosses when they ALREADY have a lead and a man advantage.
...and they STILL won😂
@@fit_man_cam1713 as they should have, the other team had 10?
😢😢😢
And they won. Crazy. And it was the worst we've played in years. Weird. Lol
Wait until the us plays Uruguay. or Ecuador plays mexico. CONCACAF should get an invitation next copa America. Specially canada
On a more serious note we really missed renato tapia the maestro in midfield was missing and honestly on the wings so was advincula there was no creativity and the game changed entirely after ya the deserved red card. Ive never seen a more horrible referee. And how could they not talk about the heat the linesman actually passed out from heatstroke! Peru are in a stage of transition. Nothing is going to go well in the near future. But also why not use oliver sonne more also? Lastly any peuvians know what he said about peruvian self destruction is so true and not having faith in the team. Gallese at the back im worried about the future no decent keeper otherwise as well
Could care less how it looked, I'll take the win.
Canada going through would be a shocker. Those Canadians not used to playing in 100F lmao
You DO realize Canada plays in Central America and the Caribbean all the time right?
