    It’s nice they are adding to the card “pool”

    I really like this announcement. The freedom and creativity they use in this one will make the game better in the future. The more they think outside the box will eventually end up in new ideas for future heroes and cicles.

    Deadpool with symbiote suit can rush most villains in 2 turns (because you can fish out Maximum Effort with his alter ego ability). even if you choose slower aspects, the option to deal 19 dmg whenever you feel like it makes him incredible strong imo

    I am so thrilled with how FFG designed him. He looks so fun and as someone very rarely plays true solo I cannot wait to play him in a three or four player game with a really good thwarting deck

    Both Deadpool and the 'Pool aspect look fun and interesting, and I look forward to trying them out. My first thought is to run him in Justice because of the Acceleration Tokens, but we'll see. He looks like a rush hero with those attack events though, so maybe the Acceleration won't matter. I'm also interesting in trying a Star-Pool (Star-Lord) build. Finally, I think the Pool Aspect may be something to look at for the Heroes who like all (or mostly all) Basic cards; I'm hoping to find some fun "Pool splash" for those.

    One thing to note is that the pool Allies don’t take consequence damage effectively making them forever Allies.

    A fifth aspect is something I have always wanted to see but I'm honestly super disappointed that it's gimmicky and so significantly tied to a single character. Based on that, I'll be really surprised if it continues to get support after this pack, and even if it does, I have a hard time seeing how it's something I'll enjoy. 'It Ain't Over...' saves Deadpool's hero pack for me and even though I think it's an essential turn 1 card, it does make his deck with the accelerations something that I'm excited to try. Domino > Angel > Psylocke > X-23 > Deadpool > Cable are my predictions for my favourite heroes this cycle.

    I love how Deadpool feels like his own level of difficulty. It feels like the perfect medium between standard and expert and that's just for picking the hero. 😂

    Honestly, not entirely sure how I feel about this pack. He seems very unique and fun and the theme is there, but the playstyle doesn't really excite me personally. I see why people would love it, but it's not exactly how I like playing. Feels very rush-focused to me, but I guess there could be other ways to play him. Definitely going to have to experiment with him a lot.
    As for the 'Pool aspect, I love that there's a new aspect - but I'm not a fan of it being the 'Pool aspect. The high-risk high-reward playstyle is fun for sure, and I like reworking old cards, but those events being max one per deck feels like it's going to be a bit hard to build around unless you're going for a 'jack of all trades' type of deck. Obviously we haven't seen all the cards so I shouldn't judge it just yet, but based on the ones revealed that's kinda how I feel. I'm also not a fan of how the aspect is focused on Deadpool - the other aspects are broad and can thematically work for every hero, while the 'Pool aspect feels specifically geared towards Deadpool and idk how that will feel thematically.
    I'm sure I'll still have a ton of fun with this hero pack, but it's the first hero/pack this wave that I feel a bit concerned about.

    I'm calling it right now, I predict that a year from now you'll be making a video declaring Deadpool with the 'Pool Aspect the G.O.A.T. 😉
    Honestly, I can't wait to see a 2-handed video of Deadpool and Star-Lord both pushing their luck and using Symbiote Suits ('cause you never can have too many Encounter cards right?) 😜

    Armed to the teeth opens up a lot of fun options, since it pulls any aspect weapon from your owned cards and you can swap back and forth between it and your katanas every round.

    My concern is for future support for the pool aspect, 78 cards - 15 for hero cards - 5 nemesis cards - 1 obligation, - the 5 cards of the dreadpool bits means a maximum of 52 aspect cards
    And that makes the massive assumption that there are 0 basic cards in the pack which is highly unlikely at best.
    That does not leave a lot of room for unique cards, given they will need to be supplied with everything you need to play. I really hope the design is well balanced, otherwise all the decks will simply run the objective best pool cards and every pool deck will be the same.
    And if the only way to add more cards to the pool aspect is to add more varients of deadpool, probably using the deadpool corps, that does not leave a lot of options.
    I really enjoy this game and i want to like the new aspect, but until i see more, i will be concerned for how good this pack will be.

      Yeah, I don’t think it’s likely this will get more support. I kind of think of the ‘pool aspect as more like Standard 2. It’s there for the experience.
      And I’m actually excited to try him in other aspects more. I feel like his potential in Justice will be crazy!

    It’s crazy looking at the player side scheme in the pool aspect because before knowing anything about this cycle looking at this card I would have been like “What in the world is that??!” but with this new lead designer we have gotten not only a new card type but also a new aspect all in one cycle!

    I'm worried about the level of support 'pool will get. It really only makes sense for them to release 'pool cards with deadpool themed heroes, which there can only be so many I feel. I think it'd have been better to release deadpool in a big box and give a lot of support for 'pool in that, instead of releasing it in a hero pack. I'm personally not very excited for him as I'm not a fan of the comics and prefer a much more control oriented playstyle whereas he seems like a rush character.

    • @heroicskeleton1566
      @heroicskeleton1566 Год назад

      I don't think that the 'pool pool will be limited. As they already showed, they are essentially making 'pool versions of existing cards, so no real limit, other then potentially allies. But really, there's only like 20ish allies in each aspect. And I think there's enough alternate deadpools for that

    I agree that the tradeoff aspect of both Deadpool and 'Pool will be harder to manage true solo, but you're correct that we've seen like 10/47 cards. We don't have enough info to call it either way.
    I also agree the the new aspect is the cool/interesting part of this announcement. Once we have it in hand we get to question how it changes every hero in the game. I can't think of anything thats been added that has that big of an effect.

    • @mitch-TO
      @mitch-TO Год назад +1

      I’m guessing we’ll see hero side schemes that remove acceleration tokens. That should make him much more feasible for solo.

  • @xaninthael1492
    @xaninthael1492 9 месяцев назад

    Ngl, I'm kinda bummed that they decided to make the new aspect deadpool themed. The aspects are meant to be neutral so it makes sense, thematically, for almost any character to use them. It doesn't really make sense to make an Iron Man/'Pool deck, for example.
    And then you have to think "so how will they release more 'Pool cards?" Will they just toss a couple in with each new hero pack? Will the next expansion be a Deadpool theme?
    My last, but possibly biggest concern, is will they be pushing too much Deadpool themed content with this? I like DP as much as the next guy (😉), but does it really make a lot of sense to focus an entire aspect around him? I feel like I'm not alone in thinking i would've much rather had a new aspect be a new playstyle completely and not just a new difficulty mode.

    I'm sorry but I honestly done think they make the game with solo in mind it's in there best interest to get more people in the game instead of a few play by themself.

    • @Jason_Grimes44
      @Jason_Grimes44 Год назад +1

      It's a really interesting point - I think it must be hard to design cards that work well for both. As a multiplayer, I view many of the cards as only good for multiplayer but think a good few others only work in solo. It's probably because both positive and negative effects scale up very quickly so beneficial effects per player are great in multiplayer, but then I'd never dream of playing cards like One Way or Another as to bring out a side scheme with likely 9 or more threat (I play with 3 people) just so I can draw some cards is a terrible trade off!
      Funnily enough I thought that with the exception of a couple of cards, Pool wouldn't work well for multiplayer as it generally means saying to everyone 'You all have to suffer something bad (like an acceleration token or extra encounter card etc.) just so I can have something good'.

  • @scottgwynne5254
    @scottgwynne5254 Год назад +1

    Hi Jason - I share some of your concerns. Lots of acceleration tokens on some main schemes will make it very difficult to survive, in solo play, but it does look a lot of fun and it's a bold move, which is good to see. I felt Tony Fanchi did a brilliant job with Mojomania, which can be difficult but never Ronin levels of difficulty, so I'm hoping that some of the unseen 'Pool cards will provide some balance. Either way, I welcome the creativity and the chance to bring something different to the table.

    Love the direction they took with deadpool and the bonus aspect was a welcomed surprise, interested to see the future support for the pool aspect, i am already fearful of the acceleration token mecanic, i think the way they designed it is that once tou have say 3 tokens on main your buffed up enough to just win or remove all threat but i can see it getting out of hand quickly.
    Perhaps the tokens should have gone on deadpool himself and discard when you flip to ae, idk just spitballing but still very excited to test away with him and the rest of the next evo box

  • @heroicskeleton1566
    @heroicskeleton1566 Год назад +1

    I do think the 'pool aspect will be fun if balanced decently, particularly in multiplayer. It might just not be great for solo, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. I just don't get what the aspect is supposed to do. Every other aspect has a main class identity, that defines the aspect. Is 'pools identity just gonna be "do a little of everything, but with drawbacks?" That's kinda disappointing. There's still places that aren't really explored yet, like a support aspect that helps other players, an aspect that protects against the encounter deck (kinda like the opposite of 'pool lol), maybe an aspect that helps you focus on your identity cards

    I like that they're experimenting with new stuff, Deadpool was an obvious choice to do so, but I mirror some of the other concerns here. The pool aspect I feel is basically Deadpool specific (doubt I'd use it with anyone else). Thematically its silly and reckless which i feel fits basically just Deadpool (maybe star lord). I do want to see a 6th aspect that is more like an actual viable aspect for all heroes.

    Not terribly excited about this. There's just way to many negatives to all these cards. When I play my hero turn, I want everything I do to feel positive or I'm influencing the game to my benefit. These just don't do that for me.
    I suppose we'll see, but I'm getting Hulk vibes from this pack.
    Edit: I'll respectfully disagree about you saying that the new aspect changes and improves a lot of things 28:30. Mainly because I don't think it does anything the other aspects can't already do. In fact it seems like it does a bit of everything already, just some cards have risks.

    Worst kept secret in all of gaming. You predicted fan’s disappointment. I don’t think you are wrong.
    I, for one am seriously unimpressed. Great art, juvenile humor and none of the underlying power the other “gag” deck, SpiderHam, brings to the table. This deck is aimed at a particular sort of MC player and most assuredly it is not me.
    I submit that the ‘pool aspect and, to some extent, player side schemes is FFG’s way of signaling that they’ve run out of room with the original design.
