Sevika actually never changes her allegiences. Sevika only has one thing she has faith in; Zaun. She never betrayed Vander, rather he gave up the fight for Zaun and she moved to the next best leader: Silco. The arm certainly shows where her allegences in her fight for Zaun is, but she never stops believing in her city and her people, and anyone who doesnt stand beside her is better off tossed aside like Smeech. The fact that Sevika's name means servant is absolutely amazing. Also that the end of her arc is as a "public servant" on the council. I don't think anyone, even Vander or Silco, could be a better pick for the council.
In a lot of ways you can see Sevika's various terms of service with leaders as teaching her various modes of leadership. Loyalty and couragr from Vander, intelligence and guile from Silco, and inspiration and innovation from Jinx. Each mode will serve her well in the uphill battle she'll face in the political games of Piltover.
I feel bad for Sevika. All of the fighting for Zaun and what's the end result? One vote at a table with six old money families that clearly don't want her there and have no intention of supporting Zaun's interests.
Another cute thing i love about the arm jinx made for sevika is that sevika can put it on by herself. The first time jinx sees sevika in season 2 shes struggling to put her arm on by herself. So she makes her an arm thats completely hers, its different than the one silco gave her, which made her dependent on those around her. While with jinxs arm she can do it on her own now, it feels more like a friendship.
It’s funny that in the end the two who make it to the council are Savika taking over the kiraman seat and scar taking over Himerdingers. The left and right hands of Zaun. Not the leadership but their seconds who were both forced to become the leaders do to the sudden absence of one. Gotta love arcane and it’s duality’s
My question now is who took over the third seat. Jericho? Babeti? 3 empty seats = 1 rep for each floor. Only one missing is the lanes (middle). Who is filling in for Mel’s seat.
Scar (the Firelight's second-in-command) was one of the representatives from Zaun during Jayce's appeal and warning of the coming war, but he doesn't make it to the Council. Or at least, he's not in the end scene showing the new Council members. I assume he's staying in Zaun as a leader of the community there. Sevika seems to be the sole representative of Zaun on the Council. The Council table has 9 seats total, but only 7 are filled by the end of the show. There were 7 to start with at the beginning, then raised to 8 when Jayce was added, then back to 7 when Jayce stepped down. Shoola is the only member of the old Council left. Nine may be the maximum number of seats possible for the Council.
@@kevind3974 No watch it again, especially when they pan out. There are 7 filled seats in all. They only focused on a few of them in close-ups, but all 7 were filled. You can't see the faces of some of the others, but none of them are Scar.
She was next to Shoola, the only remaining member of the old Council. Caitlyn is not in the Council by the end of the series, though she does remain head of House Kiramman.
I respectfully disagree on Sevika being a voice of the people and have grave issues with her morality and loyalty to Zaun as a city or society. I had a longer more detailed comment on acts Sevika does or allows to happen in Season 1 but it was maybe a bit much for the youtube bot. So I'll try to be more broad but convey the hopefully constructive point. All this points to Sevika during season 1. Season 2 is a different story and a very different character. " We don't hand over our own people " always sounded hollow to me coming from Sevika. People glorify it without criticism and it kind of bothers me. She is perfectly willing to sacrifice or end Zaunites, including Vi's gang, if they arbitrarily "look weak" to her or happen to be in the way. Or happen to just be in a fistfight with her and she feels like doing a pointy sharp arm-thing through them (Vi). Just not *give* them to Piltover. The distinction seems dishonest and morally gaslighty even to herself. " We don't hand over our own people we just.... put them to the ground ourselves." Yay? Sounds more like tyranny than anything for any "people". Speaking of the people. The idea of Zaun that Sevika seems to fight for. She is perfectly willing to watch and allow the death and suffering shimmer causes, the poverty, the homelessness, the squalor.... and it doesn't cause her to even bat an eye. Which suggests she is not fighting for an independent Zaun for the people. Instead fighting for an independent lawless Zaun where might makes right and the "weak", the people who don't happen to be born strong or capable or ruthless enough, are meaningless. I hope this doesn't come across as too negative or so on. Conveying tone in text is not my strong point, but I mean all this in a constructive way. An honest thought bubble about Sevika as a character. I like your videos, you make cool stuff, they're fun to listen to and analyzing and interpreting these characters is interesting and fun. I just feel that people are really quick to not really look at or critique what Sevika does and allows to happen in S1. And it puzzles me.
Technically, that helped Zaun get enforcers off their backs. The problem was Jayce and Viktor invented Hextech the same night Silco seized control. Whatever opportunity that could have opened up after a seizefire was lost.
But also, Shimmer is one of the only forms of health care available to Zaunites. We see it revive Jinx and pump Sevika after losing her arm, so it probably can work as a powerful painkiller and revitalizer.
@@cuongtranmanh3794 Jayce and Ekko are nowhere close to the same person. Sevika hasn’t really led besides trying and failing to hold things together after Silco. Ekko has been leading a group of people for years, and he has ideas for what he wants to improve Zaun. Especially after traveling to that alternate universe.
Sevika is one of those rare characters in Arcane with genuinely pure intentions. She wants the best for Zaun, and will stop at nothing to get it. Despite everything, she held onto her beliefs and stayed firm throughout the entire series, not letting go of her values and staying true to herself.
wow, wow, wow! I just found your channel and you are the GOAT... this is the kind of content for arcane AND cyberpunk 2077 i've been hoping for!! Please make more!! i will watch it all!
In one of the last scenes of the Episode 9, Councillor Sevika and Shoola (the one with a machine eye who survived Jinx's explosion) shares a shot with only one another. These two characters actually share many similarities, most notable are visual as they're both cyborgs and are women of colour. They've also survived all the events of Arcane since season 1, act 1 and have the scars to show for it. During the Noxian invasion Shoola and Mel were at the front lines commanding the Enforcers and Sevika spearheaded the Zaun fighters. The new council is full of fresh Piltover nobles so these two, even though they were enemies, will probably find more solidarity with each other. Shoola has basically no screentime but after 2 seasons we know that she's very rich, powerful and has been a political leader of Piltover for over a decade. She has survived armed attacks and defended her city in the face of war. Sevika is her Zaun opposite, but with more brawn and, most likely, less brain. I think they'll make a good team.
Perfect voice for Zaun but not explored at all. Few moments she had in ep2 or 4 were not enough. Also lets not forget she was vying for Zauns independence but that was even at the price of people of Zaun. All these years she was helping Silco drug the whole undercity and its people so her wanting to not 'give up their own people' was hypocritical in s1 perspective. How many of their own they killed while trying to stick it to topside and gaining nothing speaks for itself.
She sacrificed herself to the shimmer as well. I think she saw it as the pain you had to go through, the V shaped recovery, chemotherapy, the desperation to see the light at the end of the tunnel. If they wanted freedom, they didn't just have to touch people's hearts and tell them what they need. They also needed to have the strength to not get squashed into oblivion by those who just want to make it go away.
Yay, some love for Sevika! You can spatter on all you want. This is an excellent close analysis of Sevika, who was a terrific character for the many reasons you cite. And nobody rocks a cape like Sevika!
When/if Arcane sequel in Piltover/Zaun happens, Sevika should be lifted up to be a main character. Her position as the first councilor from the Undercity puts a lot of pressure at the same time as giving her power
Secretly zevika is the real main character. Unrelated to the video, I finally finished Caesaria and I gotta say, some parts where a bit hard to get through because of the wording, but other than that, 10/10 on the story and I can't wait for part 2❤️
OMG. I never picked up Scar's acknowledgement to SPECIFICALLY Sevika. Theres concept art of Sevika flying with the firelights on their boards, and I truly wished there was more Sevika with the firelights. Because the firelights are quite literally "I declare war, on anybody standing in the way for what I dream for.". Even their colors, Sevika begins bleeding green within her arm, the Firelights colors are green. Zaun is green! I don't have the proper words, but Sevika and the Firelights are just mwah❤😢
I like how in the end, when Sevika sits down at the council table and the old Baba gives her that snarling look they show a clip of Shoola looking back at that old snarky Baba mean muggin Sevika like "Don't you be givin' Sevika the stink eye"....
I neeeed to know more about her, I love her so much!!!! 😭😭😭 What made her so loyal to Zaun’s cause, what’s the deal with her dad, the letter in Jinx Fixes Everything, how she reacted to Silco’s and “Jinx’s” deaths, heck even to Isha’s! Riot, Fortiche, I am on my knees begging 🙏
While i personally think she chose wrong with "betraying" Vander because of all the damage Silco's reign did to Zaun. I can't necessarily blame her she wanted everything she and everyone else fought for to mean something. She's honestly a perfect mix of Vander and Silco she's willing to go through great lengths to protect her people and would never give them up.
Yeah I agree, that angered me that she’d side with someone like him but it does make sense narratively when you consider that it doesn’t matter who the person is, only about who can bring lasting change that leads to Zaun’s independence.
I completely understand and agree with her leaving Vander. Now I'm not saying I wouldn't do what Vander did, but he put his kids ahead of Zaun. He lost so many people and their respect for his decision. Remember they follow him because he promised freedom. Him and Silco both. Silco stayed true to that and Vander didn't. Even when Silco had a daughter (Jinx) his goal never shifted. He would've gone to war as they were itching to do when they asked for Jinx. And Sevika would follow. For her it is Zaun against Piltover. They handle their own people, topside doesn't get to.
Do you ever plan to do an analysis of Singed? I think theres actually a lot to dig into regarding him, and would love to hear your thoughts on the good doctor
Sevika is the best leader for where Zaun is now. She’s got the respect and reputation to hold the place together. If they want to achieve something close to parity with piltover like in the alternate universe though, they need a more visionary leader or an advisor who is a visionary.
Oh yeah, by the way, I forgot to mention, but you should probably watch this show called "Losing Too Many Heroines." It's this totally sappy, totally ordinary and super wholesome romance featuring real and believable characters, except there actually isn't any romance. Anyway, you're welcome!
I also will point out Sevika will absolutely cultivate Ekko as an ally and advisor and likely designated heir for her position. She knows he's just as capable and loyal to Zahnas she is.
I feel so bad because i would love to see more of zaun and it's factions band together through Jinx Ekko and Sevika. There's a line in ep 7 that says Ekko and Powder are considered Zaun's royalty which is kinda true now more than ever Sevika is on the council as well and she's got connections to Ekko now too
Can we also talk or notice how Sevika puts the arm that jinx makes her. I think in a way showing her loyalty and her belief in the idea of jinx herself? I always thought it was very interesting
There is definitely irony in naming Sevika the perfect voice of Zaun when she doesn't get a single speaking line past episode 4 and pretty much doesn't even appear again before the finale. Really fits season 2 dropping the political conflict because it's like 3 seasons crammed into one and we had to move on to killing god.
4:28 Is there a slight implication that sevika knows jinx killed silco? I feel like this action here with the bottle is her resolve on the “we don’t hand over our own people” faltering. The dialogue afterwards to me doesn’t suggest that Sevika even knows if Silco is dead or just gone, as she says “he bails out”. she never really liked jinx as you talked about and taking her out would solve a lot of sevikas problems, so her instinct is to knock her out - but she’s better than that and chooses not to
I have a bit of head canon regarding Sevika and Jinx. When Silco took Powder in, she didn’t just immediately go full grown Jinx mode, there was years of development in between. I like to think while Jinx was still younger, Sevika and Jinx may have had a sisterly bond. In a way, Sevika’s attributes mirror Vi in many ways (loyal, fierce, brawler). In my head canon, Sevika’s only started getting frustrated and distrusting of Jinx shortly (couple months, maybe a year tops) before season 1 episode 4, as Jinx was going on more and more missions in the field and her flying off the handle became expected. Prior to that, I like to think Sevika and Jinx had some sort of bond, which is why it was so natural and easy for them to slide back into that sisterly dynamic in season 2 episode 2 where they share their grief over the loss of Silco.
It is fitting that Sevika's name means servant. A true leader is one who serves their people and their land. Or as one person put it me, "To rule, is to serve."
i really love sevika as the core of the revolutionist movement. her loyalty to zaun's potential really set her apart. that being said, i rally think zaun is worse off with her on the council. because anything she tries to reform can be easily voted down. and at best the changes from the council are merely that... reformist, not revolution. so i saw it as a very sad thing for zaun that the core of the revolution will now be playing politics in a system designed to maintain a status quo that is harmful to the undercity.
Caitlyn gave up the Kiraman council seat so Zaun could have representation. Sevika sits in what was Cassandra's seat. I think there is a nice parallel between how Silco raised Jinx, with very little accountability for her actions, and how casually Jinx acted as a guardian for Isha in terms of her safety - essentially raising Isha to be a soldier for Zaun. Why didn't the writers get Jinx to use her shimmer speed to rescue Isha before she sacrificed herself?
I am so frustrated by the show dropping the political themes to fixate on the magic and setting up spin offs. The amount of nuance and complexity as well as diverse perspectives in the show. The clean up from the war could have been an entire season or at least two thirds. I think Savika would adapt to being a councilor. She played the role of king maker for Vander(removing him) Silko and Jinx. I fully think she can play the game of politics if she wants to. I am farm more disappointed that the resolution isn’t structural change. There probably are some smaller structural changes. Like how the police operate and what not. But we don’t see it. Season one had some focus on how the opressive system kept people who mean well like Jayce and Kaitlyn from making fundamental changes. How all of their efforts at best helped individual people. But their efforts to help people ended up maintaining the status quo. If we see piltover in a spin offs i would love to revisit the changes that need to happen. Maybe we see more Zaunites on committees? The writers seemed to drop the idea of sovereignty. I am not saying go full democracy. Look at the us democracy doesn’t fix oppression by itself. But something to the end less depressing.
S2 should've never went into multiverse and demigod Viktor. S1 was great because it was mostly down to earth even with magic potions and steam punk world with magic. S2 become closer to marvel and ruined political buildup.
Idk maybe I’m just being sensitive but Sevika and seeing her more primal and animalistic side of her IE going ahead with killing Vanderbilt and even innocent children, doesn’t give me some noble activist but a brutal warlord that probably didn’t stop those actions with just Vander and his children but anybody that would stand against her and the status quo innocent or not. While I think maybe in her mind she was doing what she had to do for Zaun I think a lot of the brutality at the expense of her own people makes her no different from piltover and at what cost to bring Zaun their freedom to help some tyrant like Silco and when he’s gone help another or become one herself? I feel like somebody like Ekko or even Vi (if she hadn’t used the grey on her own people) would have been a better leader or at least a better track record of actually caring for the well-being of their people. Idk just with her track record idk how I feel about her leading the undercity as a just leader for her people.
I think Sevika will be of little use in the council. She does not have the necessary knowledge in the field of politics. Her reputation, respect and fear are not too high as Jinx's. And she only holds one seat on the council (Caitlin seems to have given her her seat). The rest of the council seats are occupied by Piltover.
I heard a theory that she’s hooking up with “Local Cuisine” guy that Ambessa hires in season 1 (AKA Miguel, guy who also appears in that brothel who Babette sends Vi to talk to ABOUT Sevika) lmao
@@lydiscott Local Cuisine is not Miguel. Local Cuisine is listed as "Gorgeous Man" in the credits. Miguel is an unseen character and very well may be just the guard or doorman of the brothel. Babette told Vi in exact words, "Silco's number two is a regular. I could have Miguel tell you where to find her." This dialogue doesn't prove Sevika is hooking up with Miguel, just that Miguel knows where Sevika might be.

Will a bit of luck, they might at least be smart enough to realise that Zaun's interests are in their interest too
True, we see time and time again that she works best as second in command.
Five. Shoola, the one remaining member of the old Council, appears to be sympathetic, so Sevika will have at least one ally there.
Another great analysis, thanks! ❤
Sevika even became one of my favorite arcane characters this season.
Ahhh thank you for watching it! And AHHH HELL YEAHHH
@@syd.a.m 3 seats were left empty remember. only one was taken by savika.
that still leaves the himerdinger and madarda seat open
@@kevind3974 No watch it again, especially when they pan out. There are 7 filled seats in all. They only focused on a few of them in close-ups, but all 7 were filled. You can't see the faces of some of the others, but none of them are Scar.
I would have loved a scene of Sevika first seeing the firelight mural, she cared about those people too to one degree or another.
I got teary-eyed when i saw savika in the council next to caitlyn.
She was next to Shoola, the only remaining member of the old Council. Caitlyn is not in the Council by the end of the series, though she does remain head of House Kiramman.
Its wild that Sevika and Ekko are never on screen together aside from the first firelight scene because as a pair they would be perfect.
too powerful of a friendship so god kept them apart 💔
Sums up my grievances with Sevika perfectly, very well said!
I would agree if she wasn’t part of the reason shimmer ran rampant in the undercity, Ekko would have been the best representative.
@@crazy13alexwhat got enforcers out of zaun wasn’t shimmer. It was Silco having the sheriff in his pocket.
Nah. Ekko is the hero but ain't politician. Being genius also means nothing in political game. We already seen how Jayce mess thing up
@@cuongtranmanh3794 Jayce and Ekko are nowhere close to the same person. Sevika hasn’t really led besides trying and failing to hold things together after Silco. Ekko has been leading a group of people for years, and he has ideas for what he wants to improve Zaun. Especially after traveling to that alternate universe.
Everyone with a speaking role in this show is right, that’s masterful writing and character development.
Great analysis
Aw thanks for watching!
The fact that at the end she gets a seat at the council is so good to her character arch. She deserves that seat!
I love this video so much! Your pacing is good no worries!
Sevika, aka captain faafo, has been one of my favorites since season 1. Ekko is my favorite character, but she's definitely my number 2.
Yay, some love for Sevika! You can spatter on all you want. This is an excellent close analysis of Sevika, who was a terrific character for the many reasons you cite. And nobody rocks a cape like Sevika!
I started out not really caring for her in the first season, but really started to love her later on. Her development was amazing.
Wow I love this analysis, great job!
Also, I just looked into the comments and it's really refreshing to see so much positive discussion, you are creating good space here
2:05 SO TRUUUEEE
When/if Arcane sequel in Piltover/Zaun happens, Sevika should be lifted up to be a main character. Her position as the first councilor from the Undercity puts a lot of pressure at the same time as giving her power
Seeing that Zaun only has one seat on the council it's not going to change anything for Zaun, Savika will always be outvoted three to one.
In the end Svika became the leader she was always searching for
Secretly zevika is the real main character.
She escaped death so many times compared to all the other side characters
I neeeed to know more about her, I love her so much!!!! 😭😭😭 What made her so loyal to Zaun’s cause, what’s the deal with her dad, the letter in Jinx Fixes Everything, how she reacted to Silco’s and “Jinx’s” deaths, heck even to Isha’s! Riot, Fortiche, I am on my knees begging 🙏
If i had to sum up Sevika it would be "always the bridesmaid never the bride" in terms of "always a follower and never a leader"
Very truuuuue she embodies the best of both!
Sevika is pro-war, she and Vander have different political view.
Why do i get a vibe that sevika was abandoned as a child. Like « abusive parent disapearing to start a new family (most likely piltover) » vibe
Oh yeah, by the way, I forgot to mention, but you should probably watch this show called "Losing Too Many Heroines."
It's this totally sappy, totally ordinary and super wholesome romance featuring real and believable characters, except there actually isn't any romance. Anyway, you're welcome!
I also will point out Sevika will absolutely cultivate Ekko as an ally and advisor and likely designated heir for her position. She knows he's just as capable and loyal to Zahnas she is.
Would love to see sequel where we see them work together like that! Would be awesome!
@@lydiscott Just wait until you get to Ekko. I have so much to say. :)
SEVIKA STONKS 🎉🗣
Sevika seems like she is Silco's daughter, Jinx's older sister and Isha's Auntie.
It is fitting that Sevika's name means servant. A true leader is one who serves their people and their land. Or as one person put it me, "To rule, is to serve."
Lol she’s the best representation of the voice of the people because she barely says anything in season 2 she had more dialogue in season 1.
It ain't about how much you said but how valuable your words is - quotes from an introvert 😁
@ thats fair! How ever her character as so many others suffered a lot from pacing issues in season 2
i really love sevika as the core of the revolutionist movement. her loyalty to zaun's potential really set her apart. that being said, i rally think zaun is worse off with her on the council. because anything she tries to reform can be easily voted down. and at best the changes from the council are merely that... reformist, not revolution. so i saw it as a very sad thing for zaun that the core of the revolution will now be playing politics in a system designed to maintain a status quo that is harmful to the undercity.
I have a better idea, Jinx could run out of danger before Isha even thought about that sacrifice move. But we are know how dull it turn out
I would've love to have seen a lot of the new characters from season 2
I really loved season 2 but damn it should've been longer 😭😭
I didn't much for here at the start, but my opinion on here juat grow with every episode
I Beg to the gods that we see more of Zuarn and Piltover. I cant wait to see her knock those coward concuilers into shape
Zaunite literally solve every problems that cause by Piltover. And that doubting look at Sevika from other consilors make me sick 😢
I think shes the one that suffered the most from the fading out and dropping of the Political aspect on Season 2
@@blindsaint07Omg AGREEEEEEEEDDD!!!
Hollowknight music?!
To bad that voice is going to be ignored at every turn because she’s only one person on a council of elite that don’t give a damn about Zain.
I like Sevika, I would have left Vander too, he was being a wimp. Only Canada ever won independence by asking nicely.
Ok so... Shaped by Stories discord when? 🧐

This season needed at LEAST three more episodes to focus more on Zaun vs Piltover plot
"the voice of zaun" didn't say one word the whole back half of season 2 😂🤣
For being the "voice of the people" she sure got lots of lines after episode 4. This season was ass
Savika is very similar to Slim Charles from The Wire, I wouldn't be surprised if that character was the inspiration
I think Sevika will be of little use in the council. She does not have the necessary knowledge in the field of politics. Her reputation, respect and fear are not too high as Jinx's. And she only holds one seat on the council (Caitlin seems to have given her her seat). The rest of the council seats are occupied by Piltover.
you've made 79 videos about stories in video game culture but haven't mentioned Red dead even once, so I can't take you seriously
Are you single
Sevika is.
Shoo...
