Here she is on her way to rescue another batty, in the dark of the night too. 💗💞 Batty woman we respect you very much loving what you do for these beautiful creatures. Thank you for giving them a second chance at the life they deserve. 😘
The glucose, fluids, grapes, bananas, and antibiotics are all good and necessary. But I think what tips the scales in their favor is the TLC they get. Hat's off to you. You are gifted and you use your gift well. Thank you.
Thanks to the good citizens for looking after him, and to you, Meg, for another fine rescue. Here's hoping young Mr. Timo just banged himself up a bit and needs a little TLC for his thumb bruise and headache to go away. Keeping my fingers crossed for a quick recovery. Get well, son. We are all rooting for you.
@@thecourtlyalchemist I have to give them a chance. I can't just euthanase them at the start because I don't want to see another one die a day or so into care.
@@MegabattieNone of them would have a chance without a rescue, not to mention the ones who pass would suffer so much more without one. That's all I meant. Nothing but a mountain of respect and admiration over here, Meg.
What a cute face! Of course, for me, once again, it is love at first sight! I love Timo! Thank you, dear Meg, for sharing him with us! I am fervently praying for him to live and thrive! Each bat life is precious!
You can tell how intelligent they are just by looking at their faces! Those wheels are definitely turning to assess you as you’re assessing them. He’s a cutie! I do hope you have a survivor.
Timo: bite, bite, bite - I don't want metal bars. Bite, bite, bite - I don't want plastic tubing. Bite, bite, bite - I want grapes! Finally Meg gave me a grape.
Timo🦇💕 has such a precious face and those adorable eyes looking at you in appreciation of your rescue(my version🥺) I know he's scared but your soothing voice & sweet glucose always helps them. I pray hard he survives, bless the MOP's for caring and you for educating them & me🥰
The fact that he was crawling and not lying there is a good sign. Let's all give the little fella a prayer of hope, be it religion based or just your well wishes. Hang in there, little flapper... 🦇
Really all that means is that he's just had the accident. Some bats who die quickly have had the accident 12 hours before and deteriorate once the adrenaline from capture has worn off. I doubt he'll survive but i'm open to going up to the incubator in a couple of hours and finding him still alive.
We're pulling for you Timo! You're too cute to leave us, and dear Meg needs a success story right about now! Praying he'll do well for you, Meg. As do we all!
Oh he was such a sweetheart, thanks for taking great care of him Meg, I'm sorry he passed but atleast you topped him up with fluids, painkillers, fruit and plenty of love, you do amazing work. Blessings from Scotland. 🙏🏴🌹
I've started looking to see if they've survived before watching. I hate when they don't survive, especially because it's indicative of how much we humans have abused the environment.
What kind ladies calling, protecting, and waiting in the dark. Thank you Meg. I do hope young Timo survives. He's such a sweet chap. It was relief not to watch to the end and not see he'd lost his battle. Thank you Meg. Here's hoping for a happy outcome. Youve probably picked up on it, or I may be mistaken and I hope it's still relevant (i.e. he's still alive) I think you were 100g out on his weight? 499 - 206 =293 not 393? Maybe I misread the scale/misheard. Take care.
I am addicted to this program, and learning so much, I feed the bushbabies and fruit bats by me, did not know they love yohurt, will also put some out for them.
Admirable that you want to feed the bush babies and bats, however, are your bats starving? If not, let them find their own food. Don't make yourself a feeding station or a reliable source for calories of human food with no balance or natural diet. If you go away they may starve because you have habituated them to getting quick calories with no effort, and not the food they're supposed to be eating. To be a feeding station is to also risk cross infection by creating an artificial social hub for cross species. Good luck with whatever you choose
It's almost disheartening to NOT see any obvious injuries - broken bones, torn membranes, concussion syndromes - because that means it may well be the mystery disease again :(
How gorgeous is Timo? Gosh, how fortunate that he was so close to you. Really hoping that he pulls through the "critical" period and survives.🤞🤞🤞🤞 He's in the best place to help him do that. Thanks, Meg!💗🙏🦇😍
Temo sure is a cutie ! But him making no noise like some worried me a bit .. but he seems to be moving pretty good I guess he did smack his head a bit and really doesn’t feel quite himself . I sure hope he makes it Meg , you , along with the rest of us DO need a happy ending ! fingers crossed and praying little Timo feels better in the morning . 💕🦇💕
That right thumb may have. hit the ground when he fell .. poor Timo … him biting the fluid tube was funny .. until I realized it could mean he is in pain ..😔
I hope Timo pulls through !🤞🤞 So, I guess a type of pneumonia has been making it difficult to survive for these baby bats, and then if one gets injured the odds of recovery are smaller. 😟 I didn't know the reason why the bats weren't surviving lately,, i heard about the babies being dropped allot lately . Glad i watched tonight.💜🖤💜🖤
I'm thinking their immunity is low, and they're surviving but not thriving in the wild - then one bit of stress overwhelms them. Viral studies were being performed to see if there was anything going on there (RNA sequencing), but the lab has closed down to other work during this current lockdown.
@@Megabattie ahhh..ok i see. Hopefully this won't carry on for too long ,and they get their immune systems back up &/ maybe testing will get done in not too distant future 🤞... also , i hope you're feeling well & taking care. (when you get a moment from bat duty! ) 😋
@@Megabattie just read about PTSD affecting snowshoe hares and song birds when they have gotten away from being caught by a predator. In the case of snowshoe hares, the population cycles up and down every 5 years. Lynx and coyote etc population also cycles in the same time frame. Researchers believed it was simply "supply and demand" causing the up/down cycles but after testing hormone levels etc they believe the mother is so stressed any babies born to her are weaker and don't make it. Once the moms with PTSD no longer produce or die and the main predator populations drop due to food shortage, the hares produce stronger babies again and the population begins to increase once more. ‐---- could the mother bats just be too stressed PTSD with all the environmental problems ie fire, drought, rainfall, feathered or furred predators, and human activity of course
