Play 20 - he didn't run out of gas. Earlier in the run, a would be tackler was left holding his shoe. He couldn't cut. Play 12 - you asked if it was a game winner. Yes. I was at that game. We were down 19 points with 6 minutes left in the game and scored 3 touchdowns.
"Play 20 - he didn't run out of gas. Earlier in the run, a would be tackler was left holding his shoe. He couldn't cut." Didn't notice that till you mentioned it...freeze frame and its plain as day. Thanks for pointing that out!
He wasn't quite elite when it came to top end speed, but his initial acceleration was other worldly. He streaked by everyone and then they all had to try to catch up. Very few could.
Barry wasn't fast, he was about average speed for and NFL running back, his elusiveness and jukes are what made him great. You can tell he wasn't the fastest he got chased down several times in this.
Average speed?? He had explosive speed. Not 99 speed, but close. He had jukes, but also top tier vision, god like acceleration, crazy balance, and power. Average speed won't get you 1,500 yds for 10 consecutive sessions.
He is the GOAT.
The best.
Number 51 with Dallas game is Ken Norton and he tore his ACL on that play

Which season was there or year so I can check that game out again…..Barry was really the best reason to watch our lions back then….
The horse collar was legal for most of the league's history.

#13 he got tackled by the Detroit lions current defensive coordinator
Please do not compare Scott Mitchell to Mahomes 😂
I'm not sure who picked his "top 50", but they missed a bunch.
Horse collar want illegal then. Most of the people he made look stupid are Hall of Fame. Urlacher? That was Mike Singletary!
