- Cedar Point announced Sunday that Top Thrill 2 is under an extended closure while the ride's manufacturer "completes mechanical modification to the ride's vehicles."

@@fadbob_ Nope. Just bad journalism. The media has been covering this ride all week and not once was Top Thrill Dragster referred to as "Top Thrill 1" when reporting about the opening of Top Thrill 2.
It’s only because it has a brand new train design that has never been used on any ride yet. It just needs some fine tuning that’s all. Nothing concerning.
The setup of this ride needs to be perfect. It’s good they are closing it down to ensure it’s safe. Imagine being launched backwards at 100 mph only for the switch track to move. 💀

goodness this is a pro news channel? The anchor said a falling bolt was the cause then the reporter said it was a bracket. All the while giving it the fictional name of Top Thrill 1. Are you all okay in there?
Not a bolt, but a flag plate (big piece of flag metal) hit the lady that was in line.
It's a new train design, a first for the industry, the wheels have worn faster than expected. There's no fire here.
