Mismanagement and uninformed anglers brought us here, but it’s not too late to save this fish. They’re worth more in the water and need to be viewed as the game fish that they are! Great work Simms and KGB Productions!!
Great Film; Love it...In order to truly save these fish WE have to look at EVERTHING.. From the Party Boats in the East to the gill netter in the south and the massive population of seals in between the both of them , because they all played a roll here..
Bravo Simms for producing this, especially with angling exploding with new folks who don’t understand or pay attention. I fished Nantucket in the early 70’s and now live in North Carolina. I’m happy for others to experience a passion I’ve had over 60 years, but I have always respected the fish and conservation. Those who know must teach those who need to know… Thank You Again 🙏
Thank you for this wonderful conservation documentary, Simms. Plain and simple, the striper population is hurting and we need better regulations to preserve the biomass of fish. Please share this with your friends and family to spread awareness.
Shared this video with a lot of people I know that complain about regulations that don’t understand the importance of conservation! This is such an incredibly well produced video!
Good post. Liked the how to handle link. That would be a good handout to be included with the receipt at tackle shops or included with the fishing license.
My favorite line is about anecdotal evidence. Wish more people could see that. Just because you're still catching big stripers and getting into blitzes doesn't mean the population is healthy everywhere!
They go a lot farther North than Maine. Can catch them in Canada up to Quebec. New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and P.E.I. are getting unprecedented numbers and it’s created an exciting new sport fishery.
@@michaelnice93 you're digging way too deep here. The guy that produced this video grew up in the Northeast fishing for stripers and wanted to spread their story in a video... that's all. Simms sponsors plenty of videos that tell stories (watch Might Waters on RUclips, which is also Simms sponsored), yes they do it for exposure (they're a business, videos like this cost a lot of money, they have to justify it somehow) but they aren't changing the narrative or doing it solely to sell more products.
... "Meat", anglers and the mishandling of caught fish will continue until they realize the error of their ways. EDUCATION, like in this video should help. Thank you. .
Good story, a little frenetic on the editing, got to embrace longer cuts, or you will induce seizure, just sayin. Caught 20 today, a fair day…I love the autumn.
When you have striper in your water, go chase em! I live in CA and I fish for striper way more than bass. If the striper are there, they’ll eat anything! I mean anything! They bit jigs, to senko to drop shot !
Where I'm from sea bass is one of the most coveted fishes. Most people can only afford the farmed ones. The wild ones sale for over 50€/Kg. Anyone releasing sea basses would be conducted to a mental asylum
This is the third time this country has put this fish at an extremely minimal level. The reason is the same every time. Greed....If you don't know your history you are bound to repeat it.
As a informed angler I totally get why we should catch and release, but if it’s true that you want the fish numbers to rise why not tell the anglers to stop for a while? Oh wait that would mean they don’t buy the products ok. Just sayin’ the recreational shore fishermen are not the primary culprits for lowering the numbers of fish. This video has a certain message for a certain reason but it’s oversimplifies. I’m thinking they guys with the boats, the commercial fishermen and perhaps seals are most responsible for the decline in numbers. There may be a few issues in the breeding ground habitats I don’t know about. Honestly I would like to be more informed but this video is made by cherry picking opinions to put out a streamlined message. Something is fishy here, I’m not swallowing it hook line and sinker, I will do my own research.
Cancel culture comes to fishing! I'll let the biologists figure out what's going on and let the fancy fishing companies worry about gear I don't really need but want.

Sharing this with all my Trout in The Classroom and fly fishing camp kids. Prepare the next generation!
As a guide this is the best thing I could have asked for. Information is key in reaching a sustainable fishery

Exactly why Striped bass should be designated a Gamefish
Great work Chris and Matt, well done. Great to see George out there too!
Management /Conservation/ Education. Great Message, Great Film! ...Awesome Watch!
The Slaughter Fest at the Cape Cod Canal every season probably doesn't help.....

They need a moratorium. It saved them in the past. So let’s do it again.
This is awesome! Come down to South Padre 🙌🏼🌳☀️🌊
Thanks Simms! - Every NE angler

Love the new Reg's....

That's a different stock of fish. The Canadian stock is separate from the Atlantic stock which they're talking about in the video
Catch and release only every other year.
Cheers from the west coast. Great presentation for important information.
Side question- Anyone know what boat that green one is?
Great video, we need this to reach those goofs that just respond “what does it matter if I kill them, commercial guys are doing the same!”
Awsome!!!
Take a bow Simms love a conscientious brand 👏
They are thinking of their bottom line if all the fishermen stop fishing and stop buying their products.

STOP KILLING STRIPED BASS!
Question is, even if the stocks rebound, who is gonna educate all those googans that dont give a damn?
