Thanks for your excellent review of the Taurus G2c. I purchased my first Taurus pistol in 1990. It was a PT99 built in 1986. The PT99 is the same as the PT92 but has adjustable sights. Since then I've purchased the PT111Millinium G2 and a first generation G2c in addition to several Taurus revolvers. I'm aware of the claims of Taurus manufacturing problems in the past but I have had zero problems over 30 years. I think some folks just like to repeat things they have heard.

I own a G2C, a G3, and a 856 snub nose revolver. Never had a problem with any of them. Love my G3, 17+1. And speaking of “cheap handguns “, I also own a S9 which I picked up on sale for $219. Straight out of the box, great grouping from 5, 10 , and 20 yards. Sometimes expensive is not always better.

@@travislohneis224 the trigger takes a little getting used to if you are accustomed to shooting a striker fired pistol. Having carried a revolver for years, the trigger doesn’t bother me at all. I like the long trigger pull. Carrying a revolver, that long trigger pull was my only safety. Having it on a striker fired pistol is just a little more comforting for a former revolver guy. But if you are used to a Glock, the G2c will take a couple of hundred rounds before it feels right.

I have owned mine for years, unlike most big name brands I own, this one has never had a single issue. Trigger sure is not the best one out there, but with training is not a big issue. Ergonomics are excellent and comes with most features I like in a gun. Even better, with a G3 15 mag I feel very confident it will do the job should I need to defend myself.

    • @rbm6184

IronVoice Same here and I have had mine since about 2018 with over 600 rounds through it. Still flawless. The trigger is a two stage type trigger unlike other single stage strikers. The idea is to stage or prep the trigger like on a double action and then the trigger is no big deal. The trigger is that way because it has the restrike ability. The pistol is accurate also if I do my part. Taurus and SIG have some of the best ergonomics in the market. I am confident in it also and mine cost right around $200. I use a Galco leather Stow N Go IWB holster STO286 that works just fine for it. Its a friction retention holster so a tight waistband or belt is best and I think its even on the Taurus web-site store.

You can do the first shot in double action mode if you want (arguably slightly safer, esp if you don't use the safety). You just have to load the first round into the disassembled slide, then put it back together without racking it too far. Watch out for getting the rim behind the ejector tab when you put the barrel in, and if you forget the spring, don't forget you just put a round in and you need to eject it before pulling the trigger!!'
You can feel if it's got the firing spring cocked just by the trigger tension, even with the safety on.

Good review. I've seen several reviews on the G2C and yours is the first that told me what information I was looking for, which direction on the safety is safe and which direction is fire. I'm a 1911 fan and I hate safeties where up is fire. In the heat of the moment my muscle memory is going to push the safety down. This gun is currently $239 at Basspro for Black Friday 2023. I think this is a good choice. For self defense I don't care if the trigger is rough not so long as it consistently fires.

John Kellmer Try a Galco leather Stow N Go (STO286) holster for it. Inside the belt retention as it is a friction holster, not shape or form fitted. For a form fitted and treated shaped holster specifically for a particular pistol try a Kusiak leather holster. More expensive but the tight fit is stand alone retention. It is also a comfortable holster. I use the Galco myself for my G2c. For outside the waistband on my belt I use a Bulldog medium leather slide holster for it. None of them are thumb break/snap. The only thumb break/snap holster I own is a Andicen leather IWB/OWB for my Taurus 856 three inch revolver. You will find the Galco and the Bulldog are relatively inexpensive but are comfortable and do a good job with the G2c.

I held one the other day and they feel really good imo, for the price exceptional. For ccw not so much. They weigh nearly 22oz empty vs. a 43x at 16.3oz. The 43x is nearly the same weight loaded with 10 rounds. Lighter is better for me in ccw. I think some have said the g3c shoots better and that would make sense based on the weight. A buddy basically bought a Sig that is just about the same thing as tye Taurus for nearly $700. Buy whatever makes you happy.

A Millennium PT111 G2 fits and functions in a Blackhawk Serpa S&W 9/40 M&P holster. I would try this holster with any Taurus compact, and see what happens.

Ive carried my g2c for about 6 years now. Ive upgraded to the Lakeline llc guide rod and firing pin/striker guide. Blacked out the rear site/ tritium front sight and a upgraded trigger. I want to upgrade to a "nicer gun" but i just cant justify spending $5-700 for something when im happy with what I've got. Are the sigs or hellcats really that much better?

I have a 709 slim with two 7rd oem mags and two 10rd pro mag mags(came with them) all four mags fully loaded work perfectly, 500 rds and counting
    I bought a G2C 2x 12rd magazines, 300 +/- 10 rounds and no problems there either.
The three Taurus guns I owned prior to the new additions are:
6" half lug, 6-shot stainless steel Model 66 .357 Magnum, owned since I was 21, 42 now. Still tight, still in time, likes 158 grain .38 or .357 and good at 40 or so yards, best distance I can hit anything at with confidence and consistently without my glasses.
3" blued model 65 .357. For some reason I do better with the 65 than the 66. I'm guessing because the 65 has fixed sights. Also a 6-shot.
A PT-92 9x19mm Luger/Parabellum, no rail, no decocker, . Per the serial number, gun is just about as old as I am. That said, has had many mags through it and has never failed me. Had it about 17 years now. The PT-92/99/100/101 I've seen is the one model that even Taurus haters concede that their Beretta 92 variants are one of the few exceptions to their criticism. their S&W variant revolvers also get very few complaints from the haters

Even tho the Taurus G2C is 12+1, I see very little to no one takin advantage of the 12+1 count which adds up to 13 fully loaded.
Of course at the range I just load up 12, rack and shoot, but when I EDC My G2C I actually put the mag. In load it with 1 in the chamber, drop the mag. back out, load 1 more round in the mag. to be fully loaded up with 13 rounds.
Does anybody else do this ? Or is it just me ??? 👀 As for Me ?, I take advantage of the G2C 12 +1 and keep 13 loaded up, cocked and locked 💥💥💥🇨🇱💯👍

    Great review and commentary. 👍
I agree with you that its a lot of pistol for the price. In fact I owned one up until cataract surgery in both eyes. After the surgery, my vision was crystal clear beyond three feet. Shooting my 1911, my many single action revolvers and such were fine. However, snubnose revolvers and compact autoloaders are impossible to find the front sight. It's just within that range of distance that makes it invisible! So I sold my G2C, an early model Shield, and S&W 642. I have a personal policy that if I can't shoot a weapon correctly, I will not keep it.
With all that said, the G2c is an excellent firearm. In a way, I actually miss it...

I feel the "cheap" in the texture of the metal. Picks up fuzzies from cleaning patches. Aside from that, I don't see any problems with it. I really like the second-strike ability, though that should hopefully not be needed with a 9mm. (Would be nice on a .22!)

The only reason the taurus g series does not get great reviews is because they're not spending money sponsoring you tubers and that's part of the reason they can keep costs down. They are hands down in the top 5 of most reliable.

I’ve only had a m85 Taurus but it’s a good gun, no hiccups. One of my kids has it now for home defense. I steered away from their handguns at the time due to some issues they were having with them.
