If anyone get a wringer and decides to use it.. don’t forget to set the rollers apart when not in use so they don’t develop flats spots. Also remove agitator and lube agitator shaft when not in use.

Usually you can get things done fairly quickly with a wringer washer, Maytag’s recommended wash times for their wringer machines (some older automatics from around the same time period) was 3 to 5 minutes for a load of whites, 3 to 5 minutes for colors, anything heavily solid was 5 to 10 minutes. Sometimes, I’ll go by those suggested wash times with the 1977 Maytag A806 washer I have (the one in the profile picture), takes 21 minutes to get a load done from start to finish.

I remember my mother's wringer washer. I was a little tyke, so she would hold me up to watch, and I found it mildly entertaining to watch the clothes swirl around. I have a 40-year-old Maytag washer, and still prefer to hang my laundry outdoors, weather permitting. Saves about $300 a year, and everything smells fabulous!

I love the way line dried clothes smell. Line dried bed sheets are my favorite.

    Fun to watch👏
I’d be doing that day and night with my family of eight😂
I will say, the newest washers on the market have sensors that drive me nuts😡
    When it blinks “sensing”
    I’ll say , “just do your job!”😂
I’m thankful for it, but it is overkill like you said❤️

Lol, yep the electronics are too much. And we had a family of 5 at one point and used this washer, it really is great.

Theres something really nostalgic and yet very sensible about these older appliances. My house is over 100 years old and we still have an old coal range oven that we use for cooking and heating our hot water.

Really?! Oh I LOVE that! I would love to have a wood burner here but sadly they took that out a few owners ago.

Haven't had a dryer in years... Only had a "normal" washer for the last 2 years... And moving to our old farmhouse in month or two and not having a conventional washer when we move... Haven't found a wringer like this one but keeping my eyes out... So cool 😊

Well I wish you lots of luck finding one for yourself. I have used this one even when we had lots of people in the house. Like, what do folks think they did back in the day...not have lots of kids to wash for? LOL.

I remember those things when I was a kid my friend lost his arm in one

That would have been pretty hard to do, there is a safety feature that pops the wringer open. Must have been an older one. In the Early 1900's they were called a mangler due to there NOT being a safety installed and small children lost there arms and fingers in them.

I loved this...I lived in an old 1800s farmhouse and was obsessed with it..I would prefer this as well, as long as It's only two people I'm washing for...lol This wouldn't do with all the clothes my spouse wears in a week😂 I bet you save a lot on electric. I'd be for it💯💯. I always wondered how long it took using one of these and how much harder it must have been. But it's completely the opposite. Thanks so much for sharing!❤🥰

We save a bunch on electric not having the dryer for sure. And once upon a time I used this washer to wash clothes for 5 of us. I really love it.

How do I do maintenance on it? Do I need to oil it? Any information would be appreciated. Thank you

How do you fix it if it pops the wringer open?

    • @Chickenfoothomestead
      @Chickenfoothomestead  Месяц назад

On mine, there is a blue bar on the very top of the wringer portion that turns to close the rollers again after it pops open. As for maintenance, all I'm sure of is greasing the agitator. Hopefully that helps.

I have 2 wringer washers and my moms automatic never gets used any more cause i prefer my wringer its faster and reuse the water and i just like it better too.Whats wrong with your dryer and i use our dryer all the time i want to make a clothes line i love natural sun light to dry clothes.Whats wrong with the dryer cause there maybe times when its real cold or you feel bad and that dryer is just nice sometimes.Maybe I can help you fix it , ? It looks new not much to go wrong with them element i fixed ours when it burned out and not many other parts except rollers whitch the tub rolls on go bad and motor whitch last long years of service.I love the old school ways. But I also love my dryer and love clothes line too. I just looked up a heating element on Amazon and it's only $30! Wow, thank you for the heads up...I will fix it myself! You're correct, it's nice to dry your clothes fast in the winter or if it's raining outside.
