I was 20 in 1982. These were the best times. My late girlfriend was a huge def leppard fan. We didn't meet until our late 50s. Her 1st husband took her def leppard poster and CDs and destroyed everything. When we got together and i heard all that i got her all types of def leppard stuff. Even a signed picture of the band. I surprised her with it. She cried when she saw it all. And the one poster he ripped apart was the same one i get for her. She held me so tightly. I love you Dannie Jo. I miss you Dannie Jo. 'Photograph' is the perfect rock song. It has everything: good riffs, a great chorus and hook, and you can tell these guys are having a blast in this video. They love what they do, and it's hard not to get sucked into that energy. When this song came out, it was on MTV non-stop. 'Pyromania', the album it was released on, became a huge hit in the US,, solidifying Def Leppard as one of the biggest bands, if not the biggest, of the 80's.

And many of the guys are now into their 60's. They are only getting better.

"Photograph" is a song performed by English hard rock band Def Leppard and produced by Robert John "Mutt" Lange. It is the lead single from the band's third studio album, Pyromania (1983). Their lead vocalist Joe Elliott has described the song as generally about "something you can't ever get your hands on".[4] When released as a single it reached No. 1 on the Billboard Top Tracks chart, where it stayed for six weeks, and No. 12 on the Pop Singles chart.[5] In 2006 the song was used in promotional adverts for the DVD release of Blades of Glory. In 2009 it was named the 13th greatest hard rock song of all time by VH1.[6] It was also listed as the No. 17 greatest song of the past 25 years by VH1.[7]
In 2008, they performed the song with country pop singer Taylor Swift on CMT Crossroads. The performance was nominated for both Wide Open Country Video of the Year and CMT Performance of the Year at the 2009 CMT Music Awards.
In 2013, the song was featured in the Grand Theft Auto V video game, on the Los Santos Rock Radio station.

For about 40 years (60's thru 2000 or so), pop/rock music was INCREDIBLE! Then it all went largely downhill after the turn of the century.

High N Dry is also my favorite DL album, by the time they got around to recording Hysteria Phil had more control over Joe and more influence in the band, which Steve hated, and it's why they lost their hard edge on Hysteria and after Steve died they really lost their hard edge. Phil was more into the glam stuff and wanted the band to focus more on being rich and famous and attracting more women to their shows. It worked for them but after Hysteria their next few albums did not sell as well because they lost their core audience once bands like Guns N Roses came out and brought back the hard edge. Those first three albums were awesome, Hysteria had some good songs on it, but once I heard a couple of tracks off the album after Hysteria I lost interest in them myself. Steve was driving force of that harder edge and once he died this gave Phil and Joe no resistance to making DL into a full blown chick band.

Ron Just Ron - not the only band to go thru that in the 80’s. Between Steve having performance anxiety and drug addiction issues, and their drummer losing an arm- they went thru some stuff as a group.
Perhaps they were worried about surviving as a band while waiting for Rick to recover and build a new drum set. They are talented but not everyone can be Led Zeppelin 😎

"The 80's is where it was at man, when life was simple" Amen brother. I was born in 1972 and got to experience the 80's in all its glory. I miss those days so much. And when we talk about the 80's, noband can represent that decade better than Def Leppard. I could recommend songs, but with them I just have to recommend albums, because very song is an instant classic. Hysteria is probably my favorite album, but Pyromania is fantastic as well. That being said, Love Bites, Armageddon It, Pour Some Sugar on Me, Rock of Ages, Bringing on the Heartache, Hysteria, lol take your pick man. Its all glorious.

We had a lot of hard rockin' cheese back in the day (the 80's). This was the last great album for the band, don't get me wrong, Hysteria was great and all, but they stopped really hard rockin' sound with this classic 3rd album release! It's still my all time favorite from the band. After Hysteria in 1988 they really started to suck if you ask me.

Def Leppard! While they have a polished and kind of pop soundscape they rock pretty hard. I'd consider myself a fan of their 1987 album Hysteria and prior works more so than material post Hysteria. But, if you want some tracks: High N Dry, Rock of Ages, Pour Some Sugar on Me, Armageddon It, Love Bites, Another Hit and Run, On through the night, Foolin', Rock Brigade, Hello America..... I mean they got some classics and can rock. That is why they are still around killing it.

It's amazing to see Rick with his arm still there. This band is a group of TRUE friends! When he lost his arm the record lable wanted them to keep touring without him. They didn't know if he would ever play again. But, the rest of the guys said they would give him whatever time he needed to recover. And they are still touring together!!!

A huge childhood favourite of mine! (Im an 80s kid) Def Leppard knows how to rock it out,and make it sound groovy as h*ll doing so! This was early early 80s,around 82-83. I seem to remember that this was prior to drummer Rick Allens tragic accident, where he lost his arm. But he battled through, came back as theyr 1 armed kick ass drummer, this band went through ALOT,but they were as close as if they were family. Breaking up was never even an option! Theese guys has hits after hits,i just love everything they released! Love Bites is a personal favourite (its abit slower then Photograph) Animal is another one,and here you can see Rick Allen back in the band, with double foot pedals, wich he explained was one of the main motivators for him,as he trained up his feet to compensate for the lack of 1 arm, while being able to do certain parts with his other arm. Rick is a true inspiration, motivator, legendary drummer! The band members didnt give up on him either, but helped him through it as best they could. I simply admired everything they stood for and still stands for till this day, what they have accomplished against all odds, and for being amazing artists!

This is the song that got me hooked on Def Leppard. It came out during my first year in college. I have seen them in concert almost every year since. Hysteria by far my favorite album mainly because it gave us the epic "Pour Some Sugar on Me" with the "romantical" lyrics: You got the peaches, I got the cream
    Sweet to taste, saccharine
'Cause I'm hot, say what, sticky sweet
From my head, my head, to my feet
Do you take sugar? One lump or two?
