On November 1, 2022, dispatch received a call of a vehicle that had crashed into a bicyclist and fled the scene in Lodi, WI. After witnesses provided a description of the vehicle, the suspect vehicle was soon located with its side-view mirror missing. The driver believed they hit a sign and didn’t have time to pull over. Deputies detected an odor of intoxicants coming from her and she was ultimately placed under arrest.

Yeah exactly. Be late next time. Except I hope there isn’t a next time dumbass should never have access to a vehicle again.
As a cyclist, nobody sees us. A person almost hit me on a sunny day, while I was on a chrome red bike, without using a turning signal when they were turning. I thought I could go through an intersection and just barely missed the vehicle.

Two years ago I struck a little boy that had run in front of my car. I pulled over immediately, flipped on my hazards and called 911. I was hysterical because I was so shocked and frightened. I was not impaired and have a spotless driving history. Ambulance arrived, fire/rescue and what seemed like a dozen police cruisers and the FHP as well. I was found not at fault and the little boy suffered a broken arm. After that I was terrified to drive at night (that's when it happened) and will never, ever stop seeing that moment for the rest of my life. But to have fled the scene never entered my mind.
As a truck driver that’s my worst nightmare, especially since I do a lot of residential areas. I’m glad it worked out ok and the child was alright(obviously aside from the arm) and good on ya for doing the right thing.
I think anyone old enough to drive absolutely dreads something like this happening to them. For what it is worth, my heart goes out to both you and the little boy, and I imagine that he he will be fine long before you are.
Sorry you went through that and am grateful the child didn't suffer more than a broken arm
Me and gf were driving years ago in dark and a lady appeared in the middle of the main road in our area and she is lucky nobody was coming opposite direction as I’m sure I would’ve killed her if I couldn’t have swerved over in the other lane. I’m guessing she was checking her mail but definitely not paying attention to surroundings
I hit a kid. I was in a school crossing and they were letting cars through and no crossing guard was in the road . It was not a 15 mph zone, but I was going very slow because of all the kids around. Then this kid came out of nowhere even the parents didn't see where he came from. My car stopped at the same time of contact. The witnesses sad the kid stood up and threw himself into the ditch. I was hysterical I thought I just killed a kid. I was not ticked, but they wanted me to clam down or I was going with the ambulance. Of course I was sued and so was the city, because of a few different things. I had to pay about 8000 the city had to pay 25000. My only condition to this suit was that the child (who was fine) received the money after the age of 18. I heard stuff during the suit about the parents that made me want to make sure that the poor kid got it and could do what he wanted with it without his parents touching it. It wasn't my fault and could have beaten it,but I just wanted it over. The city had the most fault. They did change the sign to 15 and lights, not just slow down. They changed the way kids cross the road too. It was my 2nd day at a new job and I've been weary of driving since. That was an awful experience and would not want anyone to have to have that happen to them.

If she has a good lawyer, she’ll get this thrown out/dismissed. As soon as she said “my husband told me not to have contact and get a lawyer” that should’ve been the end of it. The officer telling her that the field sobriety tests “don’t require a lawyer” could be construed as coercion. People falsely think that you HAVE to do the sobriety tests when police ask them to. You absolutely do not. All you have to say is “sir/ma’am I am politely declining to preform the tests”. If you do the tests and get arrested, it is up to you to prove you were not drunk. If you do not do the tests and get arrested, then it is up to the police to prove that you were drunk. So never do the tests. When you fail them, the burden of proof is on you. If you refuse them, the burden of proof is on the police.

And it would of been strong inside the car. That's where 99% of cops say they smell alcohol on a person.
This knowledge comes from being married to a cop.
Thanks to the person involved but I hope that they pass so this lady gets charged she is not only stupid but she's playing ignorant there's no way that this is real oh yes wait it is this lady is a murderer
I said the same exact thing lol
$500 signature bond for almost killing someone then driving off and not stopping; and driving drunk with your kids in the car?!?!?
How totally disgusting! Out on $500 bond after hitting and injuring a bicyclist. A concussion and injuries to the bicyclist’s back and the drunk gets off which zero jail time and just promises not to drink and drive again. Geez, they do it once and they will keep doing. They have ZERO regard for the lives of others and in this case this pathetic mother shows her lack of love and caring for her children by putting them in danger.
My niece was hit by a car while riding her bike last week. The person who hit her stopped immediately, tried to help her, called an ambulance and spoke to the police. THAT is what you do when you hit someone with your car! This lady is a disgrace!
I hope she is okay
She was probably drunk when she hit the guy, so she didn't want to be charged with that.

On the bright side the bicyclist might get a new bicycle out of this… and she’ll get a small fine and probation for a week or two.
Too bad this wasn’t Australia…that’s INSTANTLY a year or so by default minimum…
But yeah, no kidding.
As someone only just recently involved in a fatal vehicle/pedestrian incident…I can comprehend the implication she’s making…but it’s BETOND despicably insulting to be trying to use such as an EXCUSE to get out of trouble…

@Rowe Magnon probably not for him either, surgeons hate touching a back as its one of them things, you either make it much much worse or just about improve quality of life.
Her attitude went from victim to Karen in a fairly short period of time. I love how she says “this is why no one likes police” as they are arresting her. Why, Karen? Because they arrest people who run over other people and leave them on the side of the road to possibly die?
Because she's a pig demon.
Plenty of reasons to not like police but yeah this isn't one of them

When my son Matt was sixteen, a driver plowed into him and kept right on going. Some witnesses chased after him in their cars but lost him in a residential area. Doctor's weren't sure if he would ever walk again because of the extensive damage to his hips and back but he surprised everyone by walking with crutches and then a cane a year later. This was after intense therapy. I said at that time and I'll say again: I cannot comprehend how a person could hit another human being with their car and keep right on going, not even knowing if that person survived or not. To just leave someone laying in the middle of the road....I just can't wrap my head around how someone can do that. Evil, pure evil. Smh

I didn't say her actions were laudable I said she ran to avoid prosecution, that's the truth. Why does anyone run? She veered off because she dropped her phone and was reaching for it. I guess that there was nothing on her phone to indicate that her mirror was missing.
We just need to relate to her condition at the time, drunk driving while on her phone and in a hurry.
Much more plausible
She's just waiting for the cop to say "it's ok, you had a hard time drinking."
So you knew you hit something but yet you continued driving.
I love how she said this is why we don’t like the police , no lady , this is one of the only things we like the police for . Arresting drunk dangers to our roads .

And still wearing the shrek costume on top of all of it.
I thought the same thing. Like put the bottle down long enough to make memories with your kids.
It's pretty obvious that she was paying little attention to her surroundings if she struck a bicyclist and didn't realize it. Wouldn't you check your mirrors (of the ones that remain)?
@@tomr3422 - LMAO harsh but hilarious! 😂
Mom of the year!! Don't forget, the rude-constant answering of her phone
I love how worried she is about herself getting hit by a car during her field sobriety test, like ya know you wouldn’t be here right now if you hadn’t just ran someone over
It’s different when it’s about HER life
We have no details about the person besides "bicyclist" and that is a group that commonly doesn't respect road traffic and takes risks.
She was lied to to take a field test, which she should not have done. They will take anything you do and spin it as proof of being drunk. It did help her that she got on video that the ground is not level, this invalidates whatever the cops thought they could get from the "test".
There is nothing about her behavior that made her seem drunk and nothing that indicates guilt.
The stuff she said is a defense. Unless they catch her intoxicated on a blood test for which they had no probable cause to even give, there isn't anything here.
The ripped off side mirror suggests the bicyclist attacked the vehicle, they love to knock mirrors off of moving vehicles as "revenge" for following the traffic laws that bicyclists dislike.
The witness did not see the "collision" so they cannot say if the bicyclist fell trying to break the mirror off on purpose.
The fact that there are zero follow up articles so her BAC level was never published for us to see, suggests she wasn't drunk at all. They never report on the test results that prove innocence.
@@_PatrickO I think that’s actually extremely dangerous to just assume that all bicyclists are just angry people hogging the road. I’m sure if someone had attacked her car she would have let the police know that.
@@devinbriggs8940 Facts are not dangerous, they are all that matters. More cyclists than less get angry at traffic when they are the morons trying to bike on roads. The ripped off mirror makes this look like a cyclist that attacked the mirror and fell. There are videos of even motorcyclists doing this at interstate speeds. People are massively stupid. You can find plenty of videos of cyclists doing this right on youtube.
''I’m sure if someone had attacked her car she would have let the police know that." To that, I say, grow up. There are zero witnesses here. The one witness said they saw the cyclist, looked away, and when they look back he was on the ground. No one witnessed what happened and it is psycho to ignore the ripped off mirror. Mirrors fold if they hit something from behind. You cannot rule out a deliberate act of vandalism by the cyclist that went wrong. The cop excuse of "if you hit a sign, why did you not stop". Because no one would stop just because their mirror hit a road sign that was visibly still standing when they looked. It is easy not to see someone on the ground next to your car as that is a blind spot that you are taught about in drivers ed.
@@_PatrickO um sure okay, so I can tell right of the bat that I’m not going to be able to have a mutually beneficial conversation with you, as for someone reason you feel the need to villainize all cyclists. I mean a cyclist is on a maybe 29 pound metal frame with little to no protection going maybe 14 mph while a car weighs around 2,500 lbs and goes up to 100 mph or faster and you want to sit there and act like cyclists are the dangerous ones???? Have a good day sir.
To those who don't know, a signature bond means you get out for FREE with a promise to pay the amount if you don't show for court. These sig bonds are out of control.
I like how she didn’t know she hit a person “B-But can you at least check if the guy- I mean person I hit is okay?”
Her feigning ignorance of hitting the cyclist is just embarrassing to watch. I couldn’t detect one iota of genuine remorse for what she did. On top of that I can’t believe it was only a $500 bond for a dui, almost killing someone then fleeing the scene, and endangering her kids.
Fat karens are some of the most dangerous people out there and they usually get the benefit of the doubt too in our society (at least at first).
Not just a $500 bond but a signature bond, meaning she didn't pay anything 🙃
If it were a man bail would be denied immediately, and he would be thrown in jail for at least 3 and a half years. Fucking absolutely doubtless

Normally I wouldn’t ID her because she was a regular who’d been in there almost daily, but there was an officer sitting in the store that day watching me at the end of my shift. So I played it safe and ID’d everyone, even the regulars. All of them understood the reasoning why because they’re not dumbasses and the officer was literally right next to the door. In fact most of them asked what he was doing there, I laughed it off and said I didn’t know.
It wasn’t a sting but I wasn’t about to put my ass on the line for it.
Anyway she threw a tantrum and said she didn’t bring her ID, I told her she might not want to admit that she drove here without an ID in earshot of an officer who was staring at me the entire time I rang up every customer. So I denied her service. Thankfully she didn’t throw too much of tantrum.
