Nicola, I have to let you know you gave my mom so much comfort before she passed. She was always so against learning any type of technology, she would say, “there’s nothing on that cockamamie contraption that I need to see!” She was 85 years old when I showed her one of your videos of you finding a pipe, a porcelain doll head and a few buttons and she was fascinated. I gave her my old iPad and she learned to open RUclips and search your videos. She talked and talked about what you collected and the beautiful scenery you would show. You gave her peace and I can’t thank you enough. ❤

Hi Vic, Thank you for sharing that. Im so very sorry for the loss of your Mum. Im happy that she enjoyed watching the mudlarking and that it gave her pleasure and comfort. When I hear something like that it makes me feel so fortunate to be able to share something I love with people like your Mum. Sending you and her much Love. Nicola xx

I've just been watching videos of my brother. He was the last of my family and he died far too young, 4 years ago (49 years old). A short time before he died he introduced me to Nicola's RUclips channel and they are now both inextricably connected in my mind, which is how I ended up back here tonight, and how I saw your post. Beautiful people like Nicola make such a difference to this world.

The medal is Catholic. Its called the " Miraculous Medal"- has The Virgin Mary on one side, and the Cross on the obverse, with the M for Mary, below. These are surrounded by stars. It's a medal well known to Catholics. Love your channel! (The words on the medal say, " O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us, who have recourse to Thee.")

There's an interesting backstory. The design was based on a nun's vision. A search online will do it better justice as well as good illustrations of it. And I too appreciate the birds at the shore as well as your choice of music. Your videos are a great way to take a serenity break from the chores of the day. And there's no limit to what a squirrel will do to B&E (break & enter) a bird feeder! Thanks, Nicola.

16:22- Those are the metal bases from Loctal tubes for radios Dates from late 30's through the 1960's. often used in WW2 military radios. I have hundreds of the tubes for restoring old radios. Awesome find on the cannon ball. Very rare item here in the PNW of the U.S. On the cannonball, one can use a product called 'Rust Mort" or similar which will cause the rust to be chemically converted and will stop rust. If you can't find it there, try a panel beaters shop. They use it to stop rust on vehicles. IIRC, weigh the cannon ball. It's weight will indicate the size of cannon. Example: if it weighs 6 lbs. the cannon would have been a 6 pounder. My memory could be faulty on that info though.

Congratulations on being featured as the cover story on Searcher Magazine! Outstanding cannonball find! Silver bullet? Maybe it was used for protection from the Werewolves of London? Maybe the fate of the polish bottle was still in the Mudlarking gods' hands and that it was meant for a new mudlark who sorely wanted to find their first complete bottle. That or maybe it's meant for someone mudlarking in the next century? Treasures come and go but memories are forever. #thesearcher

Ah well, you did find other treasures which you were allowed to keep, so that's not so bad. One of my favourite things, is seeing you find a pipe bowl. Then scrape and pop out a good long stem. So satisfying. I do love all the interesting finds you collect though. So much history scattered in and the mud. X

I’m from Wisconsin,USA. We also have some great treasures here. Pre-historic, pre- American Indian etc. but I’ve only seen them in museums. I love going on your adventures of mudlarking on your own or with the other mudlarkers. The history is wonderful, the scenery stupendous, the squeals of delight make me happy. I feel like I’ve been there along with you. Would love to see more of your artwork. Thanks so much for introducing me to the world of mudlarking#thesearcher

I always love your editing and your wonderful historical finds. Born and raised a Texan but 90% of my DNA comes from the British Isles so I always believe the items you find could be from my ancestors. #THESEARCHER

As always a fascinating insight into lost history being found again. Love the cannon ball & actually seeing the pipe changing back from black was interesting. Congrats on the feature in the magazine too. Glad I stayed to the very end & caught the acrobatic squirrel footage 🤣 They are entertaining to watch. Thank you for sharing ❤️

It is very soothing to one’s soul to enjoy the sound of the tide coming and going. The treasure hunt that follows is a bonus and your fellow mud Parker’s are delightful.

Hello Nicola, I love watching your videos keep up the good work.
Just a note on the pendant, it is a catholic Holy Mary or Mother Mary medal and the wording around the figure of Mary says
'Holy Mary conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee.

Always enjoy watching you find interesting pieces of history. Still don't know how you can spot tiny things in the mud as you walk along... Watching you and Si every Sunday is a ritual now. Cheers from Vancouver Island...

As you were the first mudlarking channel I found a few years ago I have learned so much from you about so many different finds, met many others like yourself from your recommendations of channels, and learned that some finds can lead to quite an adventure and occasionally a long lost relative of the owner. Your videos are always a joy to watch, thank you.😊

I just discovered your mudlarking videos this past summer and have been going back through the playlist. I enjoy catching a glimpse of a landmark and "Google mapping" along the Thames or the estuary to find your search location. I'm in the U.S., so each video is a mini travelogue, history lesson, and nature documentary. Thanks for all the fun.

Congratulations on being featured in the magazine! Love your eagle/bird pendant. I have been looking on line for something similar but smaller. My brother passed away unexpectedly last week after having surgery and his hobby was nature photography and he loved taking pictures of birds especially bigger birds in flight so I have been looking for a silver bird charm. Great finds. Sorry you lost the bottle. #thesearcher

The many copper washers that you found I believe to be copper roves used with a copper nail in the boat building. If you look up copper roves you will see them and they are still used today in small boat building. I trained as a shipwright here in Nova Scotia. Love your channel and my wife and I watch every week.

I've been taken mudlarking on the Thames several times this year. It takes some time to get your eye in, and I found my first pipe bowl on my last visit. I love the way you recreate the experience - the anticipation when you spot something and how it reveals itself as you prise it from the mud. #thesearcher
